20.01.2022 According to AAE research, 99 percent of general dentists refer at least one patient to an endodontist every year. Don’t be the one percent who goes it alone. P...artnering with an endodontist benefits patients and practices. Check out the AAE’s treatment planning resources at http://www.aae.org/treatmentoptions/. See more

08.01.2022 Diagnosis is EVERYTHING! The patient’s dentist started endodontic treatment on tooth 46 and after monitoring the tooth for 3 months, the dentist noticed that the radiolucency was getting larger and so he referred the patient to us. Periapical radiographs and pulp vitality tests were performed. There was no tenderness to percussion or palpation. However, there was considerable expansion of mandible buccally in the area of teeth 46 and 47. Periapical radiographs revealed a wel...l-circumscribed radiolucency in the mandible adjacent to the roots of teeth 46 and 47. The radiolucency did not appear to be associated with tooth 46 or 47. The radiolucency was more than 3 times the size since the radiograph was taken by the dentist. A CBCT showed expansion of the mandible. The lesion did not appear to be endodontic in origin. Endodontic treatment was completed and the patient was referred to an oral maxillofacial surgeon. The 4 canals were filled with MTA (Mineral Trioxide Aggregate). The access cavity was filled with GIC and GIC orifice plugs were placed. Oral surgeon’s biospy result: Simple Bone Cyst with elements of benign fibro osseous lesion. 1 year recall shows complete healing. See more
