25.01.2022 Our lovely acting Principal, Allen Kloeden is hosting a Haloumi-making event on Monday (11th of November) next week! This will take place in the Parents Room, across from the Poseidon Classroom. The event will start at 8:45am and go for approximately 4-5 hours (yes, that is how long it takes to make Haloumi!!)... You are most welcome to come for all or a part of the event. The whole process will be videoed so you can have it as a reference if you get a hankering to make haloumi another time. Please leave a comment here, or send us a private message if youd like to attend (even if it is for an hour), so we have a rough idea of numbers. Thank you!

22.01.2022 The P&F are looking for volunteers to help serve sausages at the Jacaranda Festival this Saturday, the 26th of October. We need to cover from 3pm until 6pm. Can you volunteer, even for an hour, if you cant make it for the full three hours?... Everything else has been organised (the barbecue and the cooking of sausages will be by the festival organisers) and all profits go to our school. 20.01.2022 The mangoes are here!!!! If your children are in OSCH, please let us know (here or at the office) and we will put your boxes in OSCH with your name on the box for collecting when you pick the kids up. Boxes that are not collected on Monday can be collected from the back of the hall. The box or (or boxes) will have your family name written on it. And a reminder that the hall is not air conditioned so please arrange collection as soon as possible.

18.01.2022 It is with great regret that we announce that the Book Fair has been indefinitely postponed at this stage. We will not collect any more secondhand books over the coming days, but hold on to them and we are sure that we will get back to it as soon as is feasible.

13.01.2022 Strawberries are arriving! Please be ready to pick up your strawberry orders on Tuesday the 1st of September, at the Peace Pole from 2:30pm onwards. IMPORTANT: To save on disposable packaging, the strawberry punnets are in open cardboard boxes. Please bring your own esky/cooler bags, tupperware boxes or cartons to take them home in.

10.01.2022 The annual BMS P&F Mango Fundraiser has begun! Each mango tray weighs about 7kg and contains between 12 and 20 mangoes. The mangoes are grown on one farm with minimal chemical intervention and are sold directly to schools. Mangoes will be delivered to school in the last few weeks of term with the delivery date dependent on when they ripen. Please see the office for an order form, if you have not received it as an email.

10.01.2022 The annual BookFair is just under 2 months away, to be held on the 26th and 27th of March. Please start collecting old books that youd like to donate to the Second Hand Book Sale, and the P&F will start collecting them by the first week of March.

02.01.2022 Dear BMS community, It is nearly the end of the year, and wed like to leave you with a few thoughts as we finish up. The P&F committee has had a learning curve with many new members, but weve had fun doing it and we look forward to continuing next year. Please consider joining us at the monthly meetings if you can; we have many new ideas in the pipeline, but we need your help to bring them to fruition.... The very first event early next year will be the annual Book Fair. As always, we will have a second hand book sale simultaneously, so please start putting aside old books youd like to donate for this. Lastly, a member of the community would like us to have a think on how we can continue to reduce our impact on the environment in small and not-so-small ways. We find so often that no matter how many changes we make, old habits have a way of creeping back in! We could start by simply ensuring disposable plastic doesnt make an appearance at school events. Friday cafe now uses only compostable/recyclable products. Some parents have put together a "party box" that gets lent out to anyone having a party, even the occasional Class Breakfast and Market Stall has used this! Maybe the school would like to own their party box that can circulate through for Class Breakfasts and Market Stalls? What about parents bringing food on disposable plastic plates and wrapped in clingwrap- can we avoid this in the future? The P&F would like to eventually convert larger events like the Dance to zero-waste, but this may take a little while longer! In the meantime, tell us what you think. Where is change most needed? And how do we go about it? Fire away in the comments section and lets brainstorm together!

02.01.2022 Dear parents and carers, With consultation with school heads, it has been decided that Friday Cafe will be closed until further notice. We will miss our morning coffee and chats with the BMS community very much, and look forward to the day when the madness stops!
