09.01.2022 Be very careful befriending people you don't know. Romance scams can be elaborate, involving telephone and video calls, and will break your heart as well as your bank account.

07.01.2022 Do you use the same password over and over? It might be easy to remember, but it puts you at real risk. Once a data breach has occurred on one site, hackers can then use that password on other sites, opening you up to theft and privacy invasion there as well. Think data breaches are rare? I've been breached five times, according to the excellent website https://haveibeenpwned.com/. Check your email address(es) on that site to see if you have been breached. Passwords are hard ...to remember, so use a password manager on websites, such as LastPass (but make sure you set it up to log out regularly). If you have a mobile device, you can use Apple's Keychain or Google's Smart Lock. Or write them down (e.g. in an address book) but hide them well. It is also helpful to add an extra layer of security by enabling "two factor authentication" where available, e.g. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Apple, Microsoft, Yahoo, Dropbox, Snapchat, Paypal, etc. Usually this works by sending you an SMS with a code you need to enter after you enter your password. 06.01.2022 One of the best things about Facebook is Messenger. When I once took a month off Facebook, I still used Messenger for one-on-one or group communication. On my computer, I used http://messenger.com. On my phone, I had Facebook notifications turned off, and Messenger notifications turned on. Still do. So it's great to hear from TechCrunch that I'm now able to share my live location in Messenger, which also shows my arrival ETA by car. If I'm running late, especially on a long journey where it's hard to estimate an ETA, this will be very useful.
