18.01.2022 Hello Fabulous Members! Well Congratulations to us!! We have done it! We are now 100% online! 18 Chapters, 2 core group information sessions, hosted over 550 members plus 26 core group applicants!... WHAT A WEEK! OK, let’s recap What have we actually done? We have overcome the fear mongering in the media, overcome the obstacles of home schooling children, overcome the challenges of supporting members of all different ages and backgrounds how to make the move online, overcome the fear of disconnection, overcome the fear of the unknown, overcome our own personal anxieties, overcome the fear of our own business’ survival. What a rollercoaster. And where did we land? Stronger. United in a common cause. Greater sense of community. Positive spirit. Supportive. Belief in ourselves. Belief in the system. And grateful. So grateful. Grateful for all the things we took for granted just a fortnight ago. Grateful for our children safe in school. For the freedom to meet whoever we want, whenever and wherever we want. Grateful for our clients, our businesses. Grateful for the cafes and restaurants ability to provide a hot coffee and a meeting place, grateful for the ability to find our basic weekly groceries, but more than that, we have emerged GRATEFUL FOR EACH OTHER. The world has seemed like it is crumbling all around us, yet you stand tall and defiant in the face of adversity, crying out, we will not give up, we will not be defeated. Your BNI meetings, a weekly reminder of the beacon of hope that lies in front of us, that good prevails, that consistency is key, and that the journey only stops here if you want it to stop here. AND WE DON’T! So, as the wonderful Winston Churchill wrote in his own time of adversity; If you can’t fly, then run. If you can’t run, then walk. If you can’t walk, then crawl, but whatever you do, keep moving forward. And this is exactly what we will do. Have a restful weekend and just don’t worry. There are so many things we have no control over. It is now that we learn how to dance in the rain, so when the beautiful rainbow shows itself, we are ready to bask in its splendour and enjoy its wonderful view. This is the core philosophy of BNI. It’s incredible that so many people in our organisation understand and practice this value. The idea of ‘what goes around comes around’ is intuitive and a key part of successful networking. Remember it’s a standard to apply to yourself, rather than a sword by which to cut others. 2. Building Relationships This was the foundation of BNI when it was first set up and is what we are all about today. Networking is about building positive, strong relationships. 3. Lifelong Learning The more we see members, leadership teams and director consultants immersed in a culture of learning, the more successful our chapters are. More education and learning leads to greater engagement and more successful networking. 4. Traditions & Innovation This value may at first seem counter intuitive but as the Apple example proves, it is the secret to success for contemporary businesses. Our traditions lay the foundation to who we are by showing where we came from. However, we must always be leading with innovation to stay current. This means that new advancements in technology and thinking must be absorbed into our process. Don’t lose touch with new changes in business and don’t be afraid to try new things at BNI. 5. A positive & supportive attitude Survey after survey has shown that this is the top criteria that people look for in someone to network with. Life is too short to surround yourself with negative, unhappy people. Instead, surround yourself with people who want you to succeed; positive people who will uplift you. 6. Recognition Recognition is something that we really believe in at BNI. We want to recognise people who’ve done a good job and celebrate their achievements. This starts at the chapter level. If you see something that deserves recognition, let others know including BNI Support so that they can help spread the word! 7. Accountability This is such an important value in the contemporary business world. A networking group without accountability is a coffee club. It’s like playing a game of football with no rules.
