17.01.2022 KINDERGARTEN CHICKEN VISIT KJ and KP have been very lucky to have had 15 chickens visit our classrooms as a part of our Science unit this term. We have been eagerly watching the incubator for the babies to hatch and we have had lots of cuddles with them (as well as learning all about life cycles!!). We now have 3 black baby chickens and 12 yellow ones. Unfortunately, they will be leaving us on Friday 19th March to go back to the farm to hopefully lay eggs, however if any fam...ilies would like to adopt any of our fluffy friends, Mrs Parker and Mrs Johnston have all of the adoption information. We are very excited to share some of our learning in Kindergarten with everyone! Mrs Jo Johnston K-2 Assistant Principal

12.01.2022 Dear Parents & Carers, Lake Macquarie City Council would like to remind parents, carers and all road users to park safely when dropping their children off and picking them up at school. Parents and carers should leave themselves plenty of time for the school drop-off to avoid rushing and inadvertently parking illegally. ... Parking or stopping on or near a pedestrian crossing, double parking or parking in a bus zone put children’s lives at unnecessary risk and attracts hefty fines. Parking signs around schools are designed to protect children and it is timely that we remind parents to obey these parking signs when dropping off and picking up children from school. Parking restrictions near schools that provide a safer environment for children include: ' ’ - you must not stop your vehicle at any point on the road or kerb, unless there is a medical or other emergency; ’ - you must not leave your vehicle parked or unattended. You may stop in a No Parking zone for a maximum of two minutes to immediately pick up or set down your child and drive off as soon as possible; ‘ ’ you are not allowed to stop your vehicle in this area;Pedestrian and children’s crossings you must not stop within 20m before and 10m after a children’s crossing or pedestrian crossing; and Council officers are patrolling local schools and issuing fines for breaches and offences to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all school students, particularly younger children. ‘ ’ Drivers are also reminded to slow down in the police-patrolled 40km/h school zones. A school zone is the area around a school with a speed limit of 40 km/h. Between the 'SCHOOL ZONE' and 'END SCHOOL ZONE' signs you must obey the school zone speed limit. Shaun Dixon | Principal
