24.01.2022 Today we pay tribute to the men and women who have served and are still serving in our defence forces. We particularly honour our many residents who are veterans of armed conflict. In the lead up to Remembrance Day, we spoke with Boambee Gardens Retirement Village resident Ross Kingston, 95. Not only is Ross a World War II veteran, but he was involved in D-Day. He tells us what it was like on the HMS Bulolo, where he was when the war ended, and about coming to Australia after WWII. Read his story below: http://ow.ly/sfPA50Chaoe

24.01.2022 Happy Australia Day eve! This morning's Monthly Manager's Morning Tea took on an Aussie theme. Jenny Klinkby took out the gong for best Aussie headwear while Nancy Brook eclipsed the crowd in our Aus Day Trivia. We hope your Australia Day is awesome. Our residents will be celebrating with a socially distanced sausage sizzle so here's hoping for some of our patented Aussie sunshine

24.01.2022 All my favourite colours! Our kitchen staff outdid themselves this evening with our takeaway Fathers Day Dinner. Besides our usual dining room service for our 23 Serviced Apartment residents, 41 independent living residents enjoyed an absolutely deeeeelicious takeaway dinner. Great work, team!

24.01.2022 Thanks for all your support as we worked our way through the first week of Phase 1 easing of restrictions. Please read our latest update by clicking on the link below. http://ow.ly/eIvy50zNjSo

24.01.2022 Our 2020 Residents' Christmas Party finally saw a return to the dance floor! While numbers on the floor were capped and only those who live together were able to dance with one another, there was a whole lot of solo shimmying going on . What a wonderful way to end a very big year: eating, drinking and being merry . Huge thanks to our staff and to our tireless social Co-ordinator, Judy, for their efforts in making this another memorable event. Merry Christmas .

23.01.2022 Happy National Wattle Day! Today we celebrated with a wattle tree planting and then some home-made orange & wattle seed shortbreads for afternoon tea. Oh so yummy!!

23.01.2022 Every Wednesday Merle visits our salon to have her hair done. Her appointment conveniently concludes during our weekly roadside refreshments, hence her lift home now takes a slightly longer than usual route so Merle can wave to her neighbours. She has now been affectionately dubbed Queen Merle. Thanks for making us smile, Merle. Wednesday afternoons just wouldn't be the same without the royal wave .

23.01.2022 So excited to be reunited with friends. Today marks the reopening of our bar, albeit in an Open Air format & with COVID restrictions & bookings in place. Welcome back! And a big thank you to our bar staff who have really stepped up to the plate. We missed you

16.01.2022 Our Village Manager was feeling inspired by our residents artworks and thought colouring in might make for a restful end to the weekend. "Therapeutic" is the verdict. Now if you paired that with a glass of wine it would be the epitome of quarantine quietude!

16.01.2022 Wishing you a very Merry Christmas from the Boambee Gardens team. We hope your day is filled with all your favourite things

16.01.2022 Thank you, Jenny Klinkby, for recognising our members of staff who recently received RA Family awards. 15.01.2022 Today is RUOK day On this RUOK day, and every day, don’t even think twice about reaching out to friends, neighbours, colleagues, and loved ones. Even if they seem OK. It is always better to ask. Because showing that you care, and are willing to listen can make all the difference to someone doing it tough.... 14.01.2022 And the winners are... First place: Jan & Barry Harrison for their window display with a story. Their window was a tribute to each of their Mums and featured one side dressed for a party girl & the other for a homemaker, with photos, a banner and lots of fabulous props. Lots of work and very well worth it. Highly commended: Margaret Litchfield who did a beautiful job on her bunting & fresh sponge cake, Jeannette Thompson whose tea set and colouring in were so pretty & Margare...t Ible whose tribute to her Mum, a past resident of BGE, was beautiful and very touching. Congratulations to our winners and to all those who put in so much effort to present gorgeous displays. We wish we could give each and every one of you a prize. We've had so many residents comment on the variety, quality & volume of decorated windows, so thank you for making a Mothers Day stroll one to remember See more

13.01.2022 The New South Wales government has announced COVID-19 restrictions for Greater Sydney, the Central Coast and Wollongong from midnight Sunday 20 December until midnight on Wednesday 23 December. We acknowledge that these restrictions are incredibly hard. Especially given the time of year and that many of you will have plans to spend time with family and friends. 13.01.2022 As we work our way through the COVID-19 crisis, it’s heartening to see that initial measures and restrictions have been largely effective at slowing the spread of COVID-19 in Australia and keeping it out of our villages and your homes. But we must remain vigilant. We've received some enquiries recently asking for clarification about the measures currently in place in our villages. Read our latest update to find out more about the status of measures in place within our comm...unities. http://ow.ly/ho1I50zy2Mj

11.01.2022 We love this story of Del & Evon who reside in one of our sister Villages. Everyone has a story, and it often influences their decision to move into a retirement village to make the most of their retirement years. We have a number of old friends and rellies at BGE so this story struck a chord for us.

11.01.2022 Happy Monday, everyone . Our residents are staying healthy, happy & engaged whilst continuing with their social distancing measures. Jeanette Thompson has produced some colourful artworks from our recent Confinement Chronicle colouring-ins. Beautiful, Jeanette!

10.01.2022 It was an open air New Year at BGE this year. We are so proud of our residents and the way they have embraced our COVID safe measures: self catering, social distancing, super duper hand hygiene, designated COVID Marshalls, no mingling between tables, no indoor gathering & no gathering in designated communal areas. Where there's a will, there's a way. We hope your New Years Eve was as much fun as ours. Here's to 2021 .

09.01.2022 Merry Christmas in July! We are looking forward to welcoming our residents to a Christmas themed afternoon tea today. We are hosting multiple pre-booked sittings to allow for social distancing. Stand by for pics of our fabulous individual afternoon tea packs. They look delicious .

08.01.2022 Yesterday we were fortunate to host a High Tea for Merle Stevens, who turns 100 on September 2nd. While the real celebration is tomorrow, we wanted to share some photos of the birthday girl and her celebration on the eve of her big day

07.01.2022 More than 100 years ago, at 11am on 11 November 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after four years of the most brutal war the world had seen. In the four years of that war, more than 330,000 Australians served overseas, and over 60,000 had died. Today, on 11 November we mark that anniversary, and remember all those who sacrificed so much for us all, both in WWI, and all the wars, conflicts and operations that have happened since, and still continue today.... We particularly honour and celebrate those among our residents, and their families, who are veterans of conflicts, and hope that you will join us in paying our respects and express our gratitude for all they have given.

07.01.2022 The best game is the one where nobody cares (or knows) who wins! Our Australia Day bocce was a popular choice to round out a day of sunshine, stubbies and snags. .

07.01.2022 What a gorgeous time of year for a Garden Competition And the runner up is....

Judging will take place on Mothers Day with the winner to be announced next Monday. Our staff have gotten into the spirit by dedicating a window in the Community Centre to their Mums and Mother figures. We're hoping this inspires your window dressing this week. Good luck everybody

03.01.2022 We were very fortunate to welcome our first entertainer back to our Community Centre since all this COVID-craziness commenced. Hopefully you get the drift from this selection. Just brilliant. Winner to be announced tomorrow . Happy Mothers Day

A very big thank you to all those who are contributing to beautifying this peaceful green corridor within our Village. Just glorious .
