13.01.2022 CANBERRA GAMES SOCIETY RESUMPTION OF CGS MEETINGS CHECKLIST FOR MEMBERS... Given the recent easing of COVID-19 restrictions the Canberra Games Society (CGS) will resume Thursday evening meetings at the Canberra Bridge Club (CBC) from 2 July 2020. The CGS in conjunction with the CBC’s COFID-19 Safety Plan and Checklist, which is based on the ACT Government’s guidelines, have developed conditions for access and use of their facilities. If you wish to play at our club room in the Canberra Bridge Club building at Deakin you must agree to the following requirements: BEFORE THE MEETING Renew or register your annual membership. Membership enables you use our facilities any week until April 2021. (See separate Membership Form) Non-members must pay $10 per game night but will need to prepay or use the e-payment (Square) facility provided. No cash will be handled at the club. Consider whether you should actually stay at home, eg: if you have a fever, are unwell, or have recently returned from overseas; or if you have been in contact, or suspect you have been in contact, in the past two weeks with someone who has COVID-19 or a similar illness, or who has recently returned from overseas. Bring a pen with you to sign the check in form necessary for tracing purposes. Consider bringing your own hand sanitiser (60% alcohol) to the club Bring your own personal refreshments such as tea, coffee or hot water in a Thermos, and bottled cold water the kitchens will be closed. If not already done, consider downloading the COVIDSafe App on your mobile phone and have it activated while at the club. AT THE CLUB In the early stages of our reopening, stay in your car or away from the entrance until you are invited to enter the building, i.e. when appointed convenor has opened the door or the lights are on in our room. Refrain from congregating with other members e.g. in the entrance foyer and elsewhere in the building. Al all times observe a 1.5 metre distance between you and others; face to face players using our table tops will come close to this. Boardgame players will be restricted to four per table. Confirm you are well, and have read the COVID-19 protocols and are prepared to abide by them On entry and before play sign the check in and tracing form. Your temperaturewill be checked before commencing play. The Bridge Club is expected to move the small card tables to their main room consequently we will be using the larger trestle and large white square tables. Given the smaller number available please only use a table necessary for your game and store figures etc on chairs or the floor. DURING PLAY Embrace the new arrangements with enthusiasm and goodwill Follow all instructions from Committee Members/meeting convenor. Use hand sanitiser if you share dice or other playing aides Do not enter the kitchens Wash your hands thoroughly and as regularly as you wish while at the club Do not turn the bathroom lights off Avoid touching your face Practise good respiratory hygiene, eg, cough/sneeze into your elbow or directly into a tissue, then wash your hands or use hand sanitiser After play AFTER PLAY Dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided After use sanitise and return tables and chairs to the side walls where they were stacked before the meeting. If you are the meeting Committee Member or meeting convenor, ensure each chair, each table, table top or any surface touched by players is sanitised. Leave the premises immediately. See you on the 2nd July!

01.01.2022 G-day, The Canberra Games Society Convention team and the club committee have discussed the current Covid-19 situation, and have come to the sad conclusion, t...hat Cancon 2021 is unable to be run in a manner to make it a viable or safe event. The current 1 person per 4 square meters would reduce our capacity for players in each hall, by at least half. Our traders would be restricted in numbers of staff and customers allowed in their stands, our games library is unable to sanitise board games between users, and even card games would only be able to run with 50% participation. There is also the probability the canteen would not be allowed to operate. One other issue is our main hall (Budawang) is currently the main ACT Covid-19 mobile (Drive through) testing centre. This removes the hall, the link building and the main carpark from our access. The organising committee will meet again in October, but this will be to consider an ACT only, Wintercon style event for the weekend before Australia day. This will only happen if there are no restrictions of any kind, in place, or likely to occur. One a happy note We will be offering Cancon 2021 T-shirt and Polo shirts. These will be available online, and will be made to order, so no spares. The price will include postage as applicable. Keep any eye on the CGS page for T-shirt and Polo Shirt details. They will be available until late December 2020. and will be posted on mid to late January.
