01.01.2022 Welcome to the new facebook page of Boar's Rock Winery! A little about us: The wine industry was booming during the 1990s when 1970’s university friends David and Ros Watkins and Warren Randall decided to plant a forty hectare vineyard at Currency Creek, near McLaren Vale, just south of Adelaide. The boom times stopped but the trio did not and today the Fleurieu Vintners Group has more than 400 hectares of vineyards in McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Adelaide Hills and Curren...cy Creek, as well as wineries in McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills. Fleurieu Vintners is now one of the largest premium bulk wine supply companies in Australia’s cool climate regions and it specialises in producing truly premium grade bulk wines which are sourced mainly from its own company vineyards. This means consistency and certainty of quality supply which is critically important to our customers who, after all, are trusting us with their long term supply relationship. In 2012, the Fleurieu Vintners Group purchased the 10,000 tonne Boar’s Rock winery in McLaren Vale. The Boar’s Rock name derived from a small hill called Creag an Tuirc.in Scotland's famous Loch Lomond, rising above the church in Balquhidder and which in ancient times was the rallying point for the war-like clan MacLaren. Quite naturally, the clan's war cry therefore became "Creag an Tuirc" or, as it's translated into English, "the Boar's Rock". With 15,000 tonnes of grape processing capacity, 13 million litres of stainless steel tank space and 6,000 square metres of temperature influenced barrel hall area, in addition to premium bulk wine supply, Fleurieu Vintners now also offers contract winemaking and storage services. The application of these hard earned skills to contract services allows like-minded customers to provide their wines with the best possible start in life. We believe that life is too short to make bad wine and we spend our every waking minute ensuring that the wines made by us, whether ours or for our contract customers, are made to the best possible standard.
