07.01.2022 WEEKEND WRAP UP It's been quite the weekend for our Rescue 300 crew after responding to two tasks within a few hours of each other on Saturday. Just after 3pm ...Saturday afternoon, the #RACQ #CapRescue crew was tasked to locate an activated EPIRB in the Keppel Sands area. Using a hand held beacon detection device, the crew quickly located the beacon laying in thick grass on a private property. It is not known why the beacon activated, though it was disabled by the crew and reported to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority - AMSA in Canberra. It’s a timely reminder to check and make sure your boating safety equipment is serviced and within used by dates given this beacon expired in January 2020. Shortly after returning to base, Rescue 300 was tasked by Queensland Health in response to a female in their thirties who had fallen from the back of a utility vehicle moving at low speed. Suffering a suspected collarbone fracture, the patient was airlifted to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
