22.01.2022 What's your teak routine and how do you keep it looking good? When well maintained, teak can really set off the styling of your boat, although it does require some regular maintenance to look great. For me, I've always found it pretty simple using a 2-part cleaner and then sealing it once per year. There are plenty of brands that all do the job, and I'm certain plenty of boat owners have argued over which is best at length.... The first step is wetting the teak (with a spray bottle) with the part 1 cleaner, scrubbing it lightly, and then hosing it off. The second step is wetting the teak (with a spray bottle) with the part 2 cleaner, scrubbing it lightly, and then hosing it off. The last step is applying the sealer, but it needs to be done 24-48 hours after to allow for the teak to completely dry. Which brand do you use?

16.01.2022 Meet Don! Don is the newest addition to the BoatBuy team, and we’re super excited to have him onboard. Don grew up on the Isle of Barra, which is a small island of around 1100 people located on the west coast of Scotland. His family own and operate a number of commercial boats that mainly fish for prawns and lobsters, so naturally Don has been on the water from a very young age. Swipe across to check out his family’s fishing boat. At age 17, Don moved from the Island to Glas...gow to complete his degree in Marine and Mechanical Engineering, becoming fully qualified by the age of 20. His time as a Marine Engineer has taken him to 41 different countries, working on a vast array of different projects. His most notable being involved in the construction of two DP3 Offshore Floatels (which are floating hotels for oil rig employees if you’re unfamiliar with the term). The floatels he built are some of the most technologically advanced vessels in the world, and now operate in Brazil at full capacity. Swipe across to check out the floatel. After the drop in the oil market, Don moved to Sydney in 2017 and worked for Lacey Marine Engineering in Newport as a Marine Mechanic. After a short period he was promoted to run the business. It was here that he gained great insight into the marine industry in Sydney and has now joined us at BoatBuy for the next exciting challenge. Make sure you say G’day if you see Don out and about, and stay tuned for the expansion of BoatBuy!
