This is the law that will ensure our foreign policy is set i...n Canberra and our national interest is determined by the federal government without being undermined by state and territory governments, local councils or universities. It’s also the law that will give the federal government the visibility of all agreements with foreign powers and the ability for the first time to veto any that are not in our national interest - such as the Victorian government’s Belt and Road deal with the Chinese Communist Party. This is a major win for Australia’s sovereignty, democracy and national security.
