18.01.2022 The Harts were an Australian rock band formed in Adelaide, South Australia in 1966 becoming Adelaide’s top group in the late sixties. The bands original line-up included Bob Gardiner (Vocals, Rhythm Guitar) Peter Mackay (Vocals, Drums) Harry Herni (Vocals, Lead Guitar) and Derek Manning (Bass). The group had major changes through the years with one member Derek Manning leaving the band and being replaced by Phil Carr. ... This line-up would endure throughout most of the groups duration. The Harts disbanded in 1972.

Prior to Manning leaving, the band were sign...ed to the HMV’ label recording their first release with two original songs Little Girl and Cry Nomore For You which were recorded at the Armstrong’s studios in Melbourne in 1967. Both songs were produced by David Mackay and written by the groups lead vocalist Bob Gardiner. Further recordings never eventuated due to line-up changes over the required three year period. Another contract would be renewed by Darryl Sambell who eventually took over management in later years for a similar three year contract with EMI. See more
13.01.2022 Looking back THE HARTS to be inducted to the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame on the 15 November 2017. The Harts well known group during the sixties and seventies with Bob Gardiner (Guitar) Peter Mackay (Drums) Harry Herni (Guitar), Derek Manning (Bass) and Phil Carr (Bass) will be inducted into the South Australian Music Hall Of Fame on Wednesday 15th November 2017 at the Norwood Function Centre as part of the monthly Support Act lunch ‘Daisy’s Debonairs’ On behalf of Th...e Harts induction into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame we thank everyone who was involved with putting the show together for the day such as Support Act. To all the people that came to the show again to you we thank. A great night for all of us and seeing friends we haven’t seen for so long.
