20.01.2022 This aspect of driver education is so important!!! - as a child I saw the consequences of road crashes as my Dad was a RAC tow truck operator in Mt Barker. I often assisted with rescue and recovery and the destruction wrought by high speed road crashes and the power and energy involved has stayed with me forever - as has the sight of human blood all throughout the vehicles! It is something that all drivers should have in their minds as they make their everyday driving judgements and decisions. These are always potentially life and death decisions and yet so often you see poor or aggressive driving with little obvious regard or consciousness of the consequences.

Current emergency braking test for the DOT Practical Riding Assessment is to achieve a lock up free stop in 12 metres from 50KPH - something that takes practice - the Practical Driving Assessment doesnt require an emergency stop to be performed - I think it should.
