24.01.2022 Have a look in your flour or rice or cereals the next time you open a packet from the shop!

22.01.2022 Termites are attracted to water/moisture, so make certain nothing is leaking. A termite inspection will tell you because one of the instruments used is a moisture meter & it will tell us if you pipes are leaking inside the walls.(Where plumbing is actually).

21.01.2022 Asian honey bees (AHB) are introduced pest bees that have established in Far North Queensland north of Cardwell. The AHB known infested area (KIA) has recently ...been extended south to include the locality of Carmoo near South Mission Beach. The extension is due to a public report of a swarm of Asian honey bees on 3 June 2021. The swarm has been destroyed and no varroa mites were detected. AHB cannot be eradicated in the KIA, but together we can slow their spread. If you live in the infested area (https://www.daf.qld.gov.au//asian-honey-bee-known-infested), check your equipment, boat, vehicle and trailer before travelling, so you don’t spread AHB to new areas. And remember, under the Biosecurity Act 2014 it is an offence to keep or move AHB. If you live outside the infested area and suspect AHB, report it to the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline 1800 084 881. ‘Bee’ biosecurity aware and help protect our honey industry. More info on Asian honey bees at https://www.business.qld.gov.au//restrict/asian-honey-bees

20.01.2022 Termite/timber pest inspections for your home don't just tell you if you have termites or not. All inspectors are suppose to use a moisture metter & this tool not only detects any leaks you might have inside the walls behind taps & etc but also detects termite bodies because their bodies are made up of mostly moisture.

20.01.2022 Gum trees anywhere are also very attractive for termites & usually when a property gets termites, Bob looks around to see if Gum Trees in the yard or neighbours yard.

20.01.2022 Tis the season for rodents to look for warmth via your homes. Rats produce 6 litters a year with 6-10 live rats in each litter. Just a few rats would soon become a hundred as their babies have babies when they are only 2-3 months of age? young parents thats for sure! Dog biscuits, bird & chicken seed & nuts/Macadamia they love. They can flatten themselves like a ribbon to get under doors & any small holes & also climb your downpipes & even inside the downpipes.-

19.01.2022 Who am I? I am native to the South American countries of Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina. I have thousands, if not tens-of-thousands of siblings and... we all live together. I have some anger management issues and can inflict a painful sting. I can raft on water when my home is under threat. Tell us your guess in the comments? If you guessed fire ant, you are correct! Fire ant nests become more obvious after wet weather events and the pest can even raft to a new location. After recent rain events, it is important all South East Queensland residents check their properties for #fireants. Head to bit.ly/fire-ant-top-5-places for tips on where to look when checking your yard. If you have found suspect ants or nests, please report them at bit.ly/reportfireants or by calling 13 25 23. #NRIFAEP #LookReportTreat #biosecurity

17.01.2022 Lot of big cockroaches around at the moment. We can eradicate them.

17.01.2022 Cooler months means mice & rats want to shelter in warmth- they can flatten themselves down like a ribbon to gain entry into the tiniest of gaps, cracks, downpipes, holes. Branches of trees against your house or hanging over the roof means they can get in really easily.

16.01.2022 Springtales & yes these are in Brisbane. Bob said if you throw water on them they turn orange like a prawn. Yes, he has treated them before. They congregate in moist areas in a yard or even under pot plants if you don't have trays under them (trays or plates hold the water so will prevent them & termites)

16.01.2022 With the Covid 19 and everyone at home, there are more pests around !

11.01.2022 Do you have unwanted ‘friends’ in your pantry? Now that the weather is warming up, insects of all kinds are becoming more active including ‘pantry pests’ l...ike weevils in rice, beetles in grains, larvae in seeds, and moths in flour. Living in a warm, subtropical climate, most Queenslanders have had insects in our cupboards at some point. But what if your rice, flour or grain comes from overseas? Does that mean these insects are exotic pests? They might be! While Australia does have some stored grain pests, there are many that aren’t established here. The one pictured here is larger grain borer - https://www.padil.gov.au/pests-and-dise//main/135593/34642. Be alert for pantry pests, especially in grain products produced overseas, and if you suspect an exotic pest in your pantry report it! Call the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline on 1800 084 881.

09.01.2022 Who can tell us what insect did this?

08.01.2022 We saw this and wanted to share as it shows the importance of tick prevention..... all of these babies are from one single tick.

08.01.2022 FLEAS: 10 fleas can reproduce up to 250,000 in 30 days. No such thing as a "ground flea" (read on) Old wives tale -place lime on the ground everywhere NO NO !! It will cause any flea treatments to be useless & you will have to shovel it all up very carefully & dispose of. ... How to get fleas if you don't have a pet: 1. Mind someone's pet & it hasn't been on flea treatment for more than a couple of months- pet leaves & you will be left with fleas. 2. Neighbours cat goes to the toilet in your yard. 3. Dogs next door run the fence especially if chainwire, or gaps in paling fence. 4. Your yard has rodents (rats/mice especially if you have chickens or bird aviary), possums 5. Your pet dies Now is the time to make certain pets(dogs & cats) are on flea treatment. Yes, it is not cheap, but neither are kids & it is so much cheaper than having to get rid of fleas in house or yard & so much unnecessary work & who has the time to waste. To get rid of: Flea treatments are very expensive & people usually answer 'oh thats too expensive' but massive amount of chemical needs to be placed (nothing like a cockroach treatment) heaps to prepare- the house owner has to do The problem is that fleas lay their eggs in many different places throughout the house or yard eg. dirt,(under a tree that has no sunlight, so grass doesn't grow), in garden beds that are sparse on plants. Mainly cats see this as a great place to toilet whether it is in the neighbours place or yours & so once they put their bottoms down, fleas jump off & breed. If you are outside, fleas regularly jump on your jeans, shoes & then you walk inside- flea then jumps off & proceeds to lay eggs in:- carpet, mats, grout in between your floor tiles or jump on the inside cat/little dog & have a blood meal then jump off & lay eggs. Marking the date that you applied flea treatment on a calender every month means you won't forget to do your pets flea treatment.

08.01.2022 Important tip: for a successful Pre-Purchase Inspection(when buying a house & required by your bank). Contracts to buy houses are often short & only for 1 week from the day you sign the contract. (Very little time to get a large amount done) Wonderful if contract is 2 weeks !! We always answer the phone on the week-ends or leave a message if we are out, & so it is better to ring & organize as soon as you have signed the contract. 0427646606 or text.... That gives everyone plenty of time to do the inspections as often it takes quite a while to type it up & usually they have other jobs to go to, so may not get back to the office straight away. (Reports are very long now usually 17 pages & include photos- then is emailed to you to read, send to your solicitor/conveyancer & still time to ring & consult Bob about the report BEFORE you commit to this major decision.

06.01.2022 Very few of these around at the moment unfortunately & Think maybe they have became caught up in the spraying for lawn grub

06.01.2022 32615544 & we can help you by doing a very thorough job. 32years he's been treating & 25Years as Bob's Bug Busters

05.01.2022 Such warm winter means flowers are opening instead of Spring/September & also bugs will start earlier than normal to produce. So could mean we are going to have a very long hot summer.

05.01.2022 Check out these holes in a persons yard in NSW. Venomous spiders burrows (likely apparently) but found in the dry parts-West but any holes need caution & monitoring.

04.01.2022 When booking a job it is always important to allow yourself enough time on the phone to ask about a job. If for instance, you ring & book in a cockroach treatment because you have sighted some, don't be surprised if a bit later you see ants - then ring & say oh I thought ants were covered in the job I got. Often ants go places that we don't have chemical there because cockroaches don't go there. Usually, the pestie has to use at least 1 different chemical for ants(but usually at least 3 different chemicals only for ants) that he doesn't use for any other bugs. If the person doesn't or can't answer your questions or want to hurry you- ask when they will have more time to talk. If there isn't a time then maybe they are not the best company for you.

03.01.2022 We are [email protected] & you are very welcome to send us an email/ or to answer any queries.

02.01.2022 pot plant trays often contain water too for breeding of mosquitoes.

01.01.2022 Love it when I get a little helper. Thanks for the gift and shortbread Lesley
