25.01.2022 My ballet student Keely has been off dancing as shes having knee surgery next Thursday! What do you do when you cant dance... Pilates of course Working on keeping her upper body strength, flexibility, alignment and working to what she feels comfortable doing

23.01.2022 In all the chaos in the world today what do you think the silver lining is?? To be honest I think Mother Nature is going to enjoy a break ;) Ill leave that there. On another note I find doing my regular sessions of Pilates and home gym workouts is keeping me sane. I had to postpone my wedding which was absolutely heart breaking, and to tell you the truth, Im still struggling to accept it, and it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but I have my health a...nd my family and loved ones are healthy and safe and thats all you can ask for right now. Who knows how long this will all last for. What are you thoughts? How long do you think the world will be banned from travelling or in isolation? Youll find me here as per usual, nothing changes in my life as Im a home body a little bit if Im not working ;). Im excited to film some content for you and bring you Pilates to the comfort of your own home though! Stay tuned. Be happy and healthy! Sending you all love and light xx See more

23.01.2022 Who takes deep belly breaths every. single. day? Did you know Diaphragmatic Breathing - lowers our stress hormone, cortisol - lowers your heart rate after a stressful day/situation ... - helps to lower blood pressure - improves core stability - improves mood - slows your breathing rate which in turn calms your mind - creates a sense of inner peace - connects you to your higher self - helps anxiety and ptsd - helps you sleep better and deeper - increases lung capacity and diaphragm elasticity Try siting in a comfortable position, one hand on your belly the other on your chest, breathe in through your nose for 4 counts filling those two points where your hands are with air and then slowly exhale for 4 counts through your mouth. See if you can work your way up counting for 10 counts in 10 counts out. I can now get to 20 counts and it feels incredible See more

23.01.2022 Instagram vs reality busy working on flexibility for Jordan tonight. Top pic is of what the end result should look like Disclaimer: Pilates has no rules or expectations. Everyone works at their own level and pace and range of movement. I have been a dancer all my life and flexibility was something I had to work at all day everyday. It doesnt come easy for everyone. Beginning is key. No matter how long the process. If it makes you feel good, you know youre doing the right thing. Lets all keep posted in a few months time and see how much further down Jordan can get #instagramvsreality #hestrying #willgetthere @tripodi12

22.01.2022 ~When you open your heart, you open your mind~

21.01.2022 Pilates was something I did through my whole dance career. It was what I thought only dancers had to do to stay strong and flexible and it helped me through my injuries from hip, hamstring to breaking my foot injuries. To an extent that is correct. But I know now that Pilates is for EVERY BODY. ... Pilates has lead me to learn and experience things for the human body I didnt know possible. How posture can effect mood, digestion, lung capacity, core strength. Pilates for me is like dancing. Its controlled, centered, poised, strong. It teaches you to listen to your body, to feel and tune in to what it needs. No two days are ever the same and I encourage all my clients to listen and understand what their body is telling them. We all spend our days going at 100 miles an hour. But in Pilates its ok to stop, breathe, stretch and align back to your true centre. Heck you might want a Pilates workout one day and a stretch the next. And that is OK! Dancing and being fluid go hand in hand. The same as being able to DO and BE in our everyday lives. DO our work and BE able to relax and slow down as well If you havent tried Pilates, do. Be present, tune in to your body and LISTEN. Work with your body, not against it. Private sessions available at Gippsland Osteopathy Clinic Traralgon. Details in bio x @ Bodhi Align Pilates See more

20.01.2022 The work is always continuing with movement. There is never an end goal. Always a journey

20.01.2022 Ive been struggling with a left hip injury for over 2 months now but 4 weeks ago was the worst. I could barely stand or lift my left leg up without nerve pain and it then moved to my right hip, knees and pelvis. How incredible that our entire body is connected. One slight thing thats off, throws everything out of that precious balance. Its been years that Ive dealt with hip issues from all the years of dancing. Mentally and physically its been hard because I kn...ow what my body can do and to take a step back and focus on just release and alignment was hard. Its taught me that I and all of us, need to work WITH our bodies and not against it. Its also taught me how MOVEMENT can impact your mood. I havent been moving my body like usual because of pain and I havent been my happy self. One walk yesterday and my mood was completely shifted Its easy to push through, keep going, but I knew if I didnt do the right things now, Id be paying for it long term. Fast forward 4 weeks and Im SLOWLY getting back into bigger ranges of movement and stretching my hip flexors. Which I couldnt do for a while. Walking is feeling good with no pain but Im yet to try rebounding on my trampoline which I would do 3 x a week PILATES is my saviour and honestly if I didnt have that who knows what my body and function would be like. Lets not think about that Heres to correct alignment, strength and happiness xx See more

14.01.2022 @tripodi12 working hard on his Foam Roller Back Extension! He almost doesnt even need to hold on! Our back extensors are one of the most important muscle to keep strong We all are guilty of spending TOO much time in flexion (hello grandpa posture) Desk Jobs, Teachers, Musicians, and pretty much everyone needs to keep your Erector Spinae strong for better posture Improved core stability... Getting rid of the pooch belly Proper shoulder and scapula stability Stronger neck muscles As long as you are activating your core, keeping your ribs closed, active legs and pressing tops of feet into the mat properly, this exercise is safe and will benefit EVERYONE!!!! (Not to be done if pregnant of course or recently diagnosed with disc bluges. A smaller range of back extension is recommended) See more

14.01.2022 I cant go more than 2 days without doing some type of Pilates! My mind and the way I view movement has changed completely. You dont always have to do the stock standard and what everyone else does there is no one size fits all and I couldnt agree with it more. Find what lights you up and do it! 05.01.2022 One of the hardest exercises I find in Pilates! This requires so much upper body strength, core strength, and muscle control! Something Im always working on. Yes even us instructors are always working on improving our form too Ive never had super strong upper body strength, my legs and booty have always been the biggest to carry me but working all parts of the body together is where the real total body results come from #pilates #pilatesinstructor #pike #swissballpike #strength #control #precision #josephpilates

04.01.2022 LOVE THIS!!! We all know when that Pilates instructor says 5 more, she really means 15

04.01.2022 Challenging stability, control and alignment by reducing our surface space underneath to activate glutes and hamstrings more with no help from arms

04.01.2022 As the great #josephpilates once said... Never slouch, as doing so compresses the lungs, overcrowds vital organs, rounds the back and throws off your balance. Oh my what a genius he was! Extension is my most challenging yet favourite movement to do.

03.01.2022 Eve Gentry was a Pilates elder (an original student of Joseph Pilates) she was also a dancer, a teacher and a healer. I find this quote so powerful and beautiful. Eve believed pilates was a concept. If it was just for the exercises she believed Pilates would not exist how it does. She said: ... Remember, the body is a moving object. Every part of it inside and outside is designed to move. Should movement be inhibited, or stopped or misdirected there is sure to be trouble. Muscles degenerate very quickly. We should take as least as good care of our bodies as our car, dont you think? Our body is the most complicated instrument we will ever own. It is also the hardiest, and contrary to all appearances, the most valuable. Do give it a little of your time and devotion. See more

03.01.2022 FOR THE DESK WORKER - RELEASE AND ALIGNMENT CLASS IS LIVE Joseph Pilates once said Never slouch as doing so compresses the lungs, overcrowds vital organs, rounds your back and throws you off balance. How correct he was. (Disclaimer- a lot of people sit for their job and dont have an option to stand, all this means is you need to strengthen & release certain areas of your body that support sitting, that way you can gain longevity out of correct postural alignments ...and be pain free overtime when sitting day in day out.) It is said that getting up from your desk every 20-30 minutes is ideal. Your body needs to move, it needs blood flow and circulation to keep sustained energy Sitting leads to WEAKENED AND TIGHT posterior chain muscles such as the glutes, hamstrings, leading to LOWER BACK PAIN, weakened upper back muscles that can lead to SHOULDER & NECK PAIN It can lead to a weakened core (lower belly pooch an issue for you?) which will also cause LOWER BACK PAIN The longer you sit, the more you slouch causing your spine and lungs to compress If your screen isnt at eye level it can lead to neck tightness and misalignment which can cause headaches. Crossing your ankles and legs can lead to HIP tightness, displacement and misalignment Increased sitting leads to wear and tear on your spinal discs @ Bodhi Align Pilates See more

03.01.2022 If there is a reason to not do Pilates, Id really like to know! I bet you wont find one

02.01.2022 Age is definitely no limit when doing Pilates. Starting small and progressing is whats important. Pushing boundaries and limiting beliefs. Jan thought she couldnt get that far and then BOOM! Shes almost in splits Dont worry she walked out of her session perfectly fine Pilates is really for every body and even if youre dealing with injuries and issues, it can be tailored to you specifically which is what I love so much about it. Its a safe environment to help you feel your best
