20.01.2022 It’s not about the asana. You don’t need to push your body to the limit to find happiness. Sure, tight abs and nice buns are gratifying. But do they bring long lasting, true, deep joy? Every time you simply walk into the studio or step onto you mat, magic starts to happen. Beacuase you’ve affirmed to yourself that you’re worth the time and focused attention. You’ve made your health and well-being a priority, and that’s special. That’s part of the real magic of yoga.

We offer many different practices in the studio to bring you back to your essence - sometimes stillness and receiving moves you more than an asana class. With one leap, Love's horse will carry you home" - Rumi Now more than ever is the time to be in your yoga practice. This is what we've trained for.... taking our yoga off our mats and out into the collective. As a sense of uncertainly and fear begins to expand into our community, we can embrace this as an opportunity to practice balance, reconnecting to our essential nature of love an...d being a beacon for those in our community who are deeply afraid. We've got this guys. Cleanliness or Saucha is, and has always been, a top priority for our space, but in these times we are being extra attentive and we do encourage you to be the same. We disinfect our props, but for the time being, you may like to bring a towel to pop over your bolster and perhaps clean your mat before as well as after class, or bring your own mat to roll over the top. You're also welcome to bring your own blanket if you prefer. But as a community, let us carry out these extra precautions from a place of love and compassion and not contribute to excess fear and panic. This is especially important as fear, which is a form of stress, will inhibit your immune system. When you're in fear mode, your body prioritises mobilisation (being ready to run or fight), not healing and nourishment of your vital functions and organs. So breathe guys... get your legs up the wall, continue your practice of yoga or meditation or whatever balances you. Provide your immune system with everything it needs to thrive and listen to your body. And when you wash your hands and clean your mat, we invite you to carry out these actions in a state of gratitude. After all, cleanliness and hygiene are beautiful values that affirm our worthiness of purity. We can be thankful for the reminder that these current circumstances are offering up. One of my favourite spiritual teachers Matt Kahn says that the current circumstances hold "an equal opportunity to allow any form of collective hysteria to act as wake up calls to greater consciousness - within you and the planet". 18.01.2022 The return of Birgit Roach! Some of you may remember Birgit from a short while ago teaching Friday nights. Well, she’s back on the coast and pumped to return for this sweet and fiery Pilates workshop! This workshop is for anyone who has always wanted to give Pilates a go OR someone who wants to deepen their love for Pilates as we flow through a entire practice. Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. Joseph Pilates. ... Very similar to Yoga, the practice of Pilates is not just about great posture. It is more than just a physical exercise, and can radically enhance mental, emotional and spiritual well being too. However, there are a few differences and great benefits if you practice Pilates regularly. In this workshop we learn about the Pilates principles and how to practice them accordingly. Control, Precision, Centering, Concentration, Breath & Flow The traditional method is low-impact, focusing on flexibility, muscular strength and endurance. The exercises are performed with an emphasis on precision technique, balanced postural alignment, core strength, controlled & flowing movements, and using the breath to centre the mind. Our main focus is a healthy, supportive and strong core, which involves a deep utilisation of the back & abdominal muscles and the pelvic floor. The Gluteus muscles also play an important part of pelvic stability. Hence, we will flow through a beautiful Pilates practice with the main exercises working exactly these muscle groups. 15.01.2022 They’re nude! Studio props in the buff enjoying a field trip and some sun bathing/sun charging while their suits are washed with eucalyptus and lime. Purification (saucha) is a practice we embrace - for our own bodies, for the space itself and everything you find in the studio :)
15.01.2022 Once an old monk sat in deep meditation in Japan, when, suddenly, his meditation was interrupted by the harsh and demanding voice of a samurai warrior. Old man! Teach me about heaven and hell! At first, there was no perceptible response from the monk. But gradually he began to open his eyes, the faintest hint of a smile playing around the corners of his mouth as the samurai stood there, waiting impatiently, growing more and more agitated with each passing second. You wish ...to know the secrets of heaven and hell? replied the monk at last. You who are so unkempt. You whose hands and feet are covered with dirt. You whose hair is uncombed, whose breath is foul, whose sword is all rusty and neglected. You who are ugly and whose mother dresses you funnily. You, of all people, wish to ask me of heaven and hell?’ The samurai uttered a curse, drew his sword and raised it high over his head. His face turned to crimson, and the veins of his neck stood out in bold relief as he prepared to sever the monk’s head from his shoulders. That is hell, said the old monk gently, just as the sword began its descent. In that fraction of a second, the samurai was overcome with amazement, awe, compassion and love for this gentle being who had dared to risk his very life to give him such a teaching. He stopped his sword in mid-flight and his eyes filled with grateful tears. And that, said the monk, is heaven.

It’s time to consider what you truly care about ‘a whole awful lot’....for me it is this beautiful natural world that surrounds us and my desire for humanity to step into our rightful role as guardians and protectors of this planet and all beings who call Earth home. Only love can lead us there :)

Let’s empty the shelves of vitamin C and Sage and green vegetables instead... give your immune system everything it needs to thrive. Spend time on your health - EVERY DAY - whether it’s being active, nourishing your body with good food or looking after your stress levels. We’ve got this guys. Love yourself and your body into health now and the fear can’t touch you.

06.01.2022 Have you met Mandy? We are so lucky and proud to have this teacher of teachers as part of the Bodhi Body team! Mandy is a self-confessed yoga nerd :) She still recalls her first taste of yoga vividly, it was back in 2007 in a Body Balance class. From this very first experience Mandy was aware of the profound ability for yoga to provide a 'work in' rather than a 'work out’ (i.e. her eye's leaked).... At the time she was working as an engineering consultant spending her spare time training for long distance triathlons, using the yoga practice to stretch it out and aclimatise to heat stress. You could say she was on the express route to burn out. It was during the periods of complete exhaustion that she tuned to yoga in a big way, slowly coming to realise that the practice continually picked her up and restored some balance when she ran herself into the ground. With that realisation came a calling to go deeper. It was during 2013 that she put aside her engineering career and answered the calling immersing deeply into the practice, study and teaching of yoga. Since then she hasn’t stopped. Mandy has completed more than 1200hrs of formal yoga training covering a range of different styles including Vinyasa, Hatha, Vini Yoga and Yin. She has been blessed to have many inspirational teachers along the way, each of them greatly influencing the way she practices and teaches. She views our yoga mats as the perfect training ground for life, always inviting the opportunity for self-enquiry, growth and transformation. She loves nothing more than guiding students towards their true potential using the tools and ancient wisdom of yoga. . . This is the place to come to remember how much reverence and love you have for yourself and all existence. This is the place to come and feel again what it means to be part of a community, where openness and compassions reigns. It’s all here, in the showing up and the slowing down. Let’s remember together. Let’s create this New Earth as one force.
