This years Joondalup/Wanneroo Relay for Life is happening on Saturday the 17th of October, 2:30pm - 8:00pm and I had an impulse to create a team, so I did!... If you or anyone you know would like to join the team, please register below. $10 registration fee. Team Name: Collective Once registered, please can you let me know: 1) How long you would like to walk 2) Any preferred time frames 3) If there is someone else in the team you would like to walk with I'll then put together a schedule. 17.01.2022 I was facilitating a Mindfulness Meditation at work today where we discussed one of the attitudes of Mindfulness : Dna (Sanskrit word for Generosity/Giving). It is about generosity, openness, and our capacity to embrace others with compassion and love. My first thought was monetary generosity but instead this attitude is about being generous with our time and energy, too. We don’t have to give $100,000 or even $10; instead we can offer a smile. We can listen to someone witho...ut being distracted by thoughts of the ego - about what we look like, how we sound. We can give the gift of our calm, concentrated presence to help someone who is anxious. We can make an offering of our time to the homeless, the less fortunate, the wonderful environment around us, without requiring thanks and recognition. It made me realise that we in fact have plenty of gifts to offer and that we are far more abundant than we think. We can help cultivate the happiness of many people even if we don’t have a single dollar to our name. In Buddhism it is believed that when we are motivated by the desire to give, even if we have not yet offered anything yet, just the intention to offer our help and understanding, our willingness to listen and communicate, begins to lessen our own and others’ suffering. 17.01.2022 MEDITATION Such a beautiful way to spend time in your day. Meditation is an opportunity to connect in with your true self. Not the self that desires praise or material items, is attached to outcomes, judges others, worries about the future. No, the true self, the soul, the higher self (whatever you want to call it). Connecting in with your true self allows for wisdom and clarity and with that comes a sense of that ease about your life's journey. I've been lucky enough to prac...tice Meditation for over 13yrs of my life but if you're just starting out, know that it will take time to get used to it! A lot of time! If you can begin with even one minute a day, quietening your mind and observing it's thought patterns I can assure you, you will feel peace start to slowly trickle in.
