24.01.2022 http:// women’s wellness What an amazing ride this has already been. I am so so grateful for these beautiful women for joining me and making time for their wellness in my menstruation 101 workshop over the weekend. I am so proud to have been able to share so many insights that I have collected over time. Years ago, when others I was studying with were already set on specializing in women’s health I didn’t feel called to it and I felt different for not being drawn to it. S...ince being in my own clinic and having now treated hundreds of women I can safely say this is what I am passionate about, and I am grateful I didn’t push for it initially and instead let it unfold as it needed to. The female body, mind and soul is incredible and each day I am learning so much about myself through connecting with like minded beauties. I truly believe talking about the menstrual cycle can benefit all women - teens all the way through to peri-menopausal and even beyond. I also believe when we can share this knowledge with our partners and children we can be better understood and supported during the natural fluctuations of our flow and life can be much more harmonious. I think sharing this knowledge can also help our relationships, with self and our partners, flourish and be much stronger. Big love to all the amazing women in my life, in my family, my soul circle, friends near and far, in my clinic and my I+A customers

20.01.2022 an opportunity to slow down, to move inward, while also connect with loved ones and community, to appreciate the simplest of things, to remember what’s important and to remember what we are here for.

20.01.2022 hi beautiful souls!! after much thought I have decided to move this page and my acupuncture clinic to my personal account @miriam.drescher and rebrand it as ‘nourished temple’ over there. Apologies for any confusion and thankyou for your support especially those of you who have just recently started following this page

18.01.2022 http:// w e l l n e s s w e d n e s d a y I am so excited about this blog ! A lot of the information I am starting to share is what I talk about to my clients in clinic, and I’m realizing that I’d love to share this with people I don’t see in person too.... I’ve listed these 10 things below although there is a full blog explaining each point and why you should avoid them, which I highly recommend reading as there’s a lot more to each of the 10 things to consider and learn. It’s simple things like these that can make such a difference, support you to feel and look your best and allow you to work ‘with’ your menstrual cycle. So... the 10 things to avoid are : 1. strenuous exercise 2. being too social or doing too much 3. being in cold water 4. raw and cold foods and drinks 5. poor food choices 6. chemical laden sanitary items 7. sex (penetration) 8. inversions (feet above the heart) 9. hot exercises and excessive sweating 10. avoid painkillers and drugs I hope you gift yourself a few minutes to read this latest blog and understand why these are my 10 things to avoid. Feel free to share the love with any sisters or loved ones in your life and community to pass on awareness.

16.01.2022 http:// f e n g s h u i ** one of my favourite topics!! Our home and other spaces we spend time in have a huge effect on our overall wellness and happiness.... The philosophy of Chinese Medicine is based on balance and free flow. We use an amazing concept called the *5 elements* to help balance the physical, emotional and mental body. There is another amazing concept in Chinese philosophy called Feng Shui (pronounced ‘fung shway’) which also utilises these 5 elements. Feng Shui is an art and a science of putting objects in a place that can create the best possible energy flow. It is also commonly used before a new build to ensure the building, its rooms and windows and doors are best positioned to encourage ease. Feng means wind and Shui means water in Chinese. These are the two natural elements of nature that move and circulate everywhere over this planet which create an essence of qi (Chee) or life force. Combined they effect our climate and therefore play a huge role in our food supply. Climate also affects our health, mood, lifestyle and energy. These two elements are also the two basics needed for human survival - wind or air as the breath of life and water as the liquid of life. This qi and importantly flow of qi is vital for healthy sustainable life. Feng Shui utilises this understanding to design environments that are in harmony with the flow of qi to support the individuals own qi. Your space reflects who you are and effects your energy, emotions, immunity, clarity, you name it! Remember we are a whole package. I’ll be sharing much more about this as it is truly fascinating and I think we can all really benefit from it so stay tuned. This is a great time to get more comfortable in your space. Feel into the area you call home. Move things around, DECLUTTER, clean out cupboards and minimise your material belongings, or modify things to make them feel fresher (like a new coat of paint, changing the legs on your couch). Marie Kondo - the sweetest woman ever, has a show on Netflix which may still be available if you need more encouragement to declutter xx Pic by the beautiful @_projectmay x

15.01.2022 we create our reality everything in our life right now, whether it be material items, people or plans are from choices we have made in our past. this may sometimes be challenging when we reflect and manage acceptance of our decisions. but everything that has happened and been experienced has led us to this very moment, right now. ... the beautiful thing of understanding this power is that we can utilize it to create our dream life, find our purpose and offer our gifts. I’m always amazed to think that looking around EVERYTHING was once someone’s idea!! someone went through the creation process to bring to life even the simple things we may take for granted... like a spoon, or lightbulb, a bath towel or mug. it was someone’s dreams and planning to bring it to fruition! there is so much possibility when we tap into our creative potential See more

14.01.2022 granola smoothie bowl // Dragon fruits are here and they aren’t just pretty to look at! They are great immune boosters, can aid the digestive system and are packed with fiber and nutrients. ** In Chinese Medicine fruit can sometimes get a bad wrap and I can see why.... Our western culture tends to do things in excess, and often bikini clad models just drinking smoothies all day can give us a false impression of ‘healthy’. ... Our digestive system LOVES warm and gently cooked foods because they allow the processing of what we eat to be much easier and less work for it. Essentially we have a ‘internal fire’ - like a cooking pot, which cooks all our food and drink down. Eating an excess of cold, raw or sweet foods can douse this fire which can weaken its function of extracting nutrients and processing what we are putting in. The saying ‘we are what we it’ is true, although more-so, ‘we are what we digest’. When eating fruit don’t over do it, instead opting for more veggies. Eat fruits at room temperature or even stewing fruits with spices can aid the tummy to break them down better. ensuring we still keep the fiber of fruits is also helpful opposed to juicing them. balancing fruits with other foods like gentle grains which have a more ‘drying’ nature can help the tummy Ofcourse fruits are an incredible gift from mama earth and are abundant in nutrients! Eating a wide variety and having a higher ratio of veggies to fruits can ensure we are getting lots of the benefits they have to offer without overloading the gut with excess sugars or impairing it’s function. Some symptoms your digestive system might need a little less fruit and more veggies and fiber (if you are consuming a lot of fruit per day): - low energy or brain fog - loose, sticky or incomplete bowel movements - easy bloating - feeling the cold easily Ofcourse these symptoms can be due to other imbalances in the body too but often simply replacing a few serves of fruit with gently cooked veggies can make all the difference. I opt for a little fruit in the morning and stick to veggies and other plant foods for the rest of the day See more

12.01.2022 http:// always exploring I love travelling ! and when I do I always aim to be as open as possible for discovering new things and to what will unfold. For me this is such a freeing way to be and the things I have experienced, the people I have met and the places I have discovered by following this concept have offered me more than I could ever have asked for or imagined. ... I am using this same idea of *exploring* in other areas of my life and I am seeing a lot of similarity in the outcomes. I love having strong goals and systems and I think these are vital, but once I have a path in place now, for all areas of my life: relationships, business or self development, I am really trying to allow the ‘unknowingness’ and ‘exploration’ part to take me wherever feels right, and for me to feel my way through it and let things unfold just as they should. I am so intrigued by the huge aspect of trust this asks for. There is something so humbling about surrendering and seeing what comes from the culmination of hard work, thought, planning, passion, and then letting go. This magical place on the outskirts of Ubud, Bali .... found while exploring

10.01.2022 http:// NOURISHING OATS AND WHY THEY’RE SO GOOD FOR US As you may know I am a BIG fan of oats! I may be making up for lost time as I only started eating them a few years ago because I thought they were boring and goopy. I was very wrong! They are great all year round but especially during autumn and winter. Oats are amazing as they are easy to digest, are packed with fibre and nutrients and are low GI (which helps balance our blood sugar, keeps us fuller for longer and helps r...elease energy more evenly). From a Chinese Medicine dietary therapy perspective (a big part of Chinese Medicine treatment!) oats are great for our *earth element* - our centre. Every aspect of us depends on our centre - where our digestive organs like spleen and stomach are beginning the process of transforming and transporting the food we consume. As oats are easy to digest it relieves burden from these organs so they can better function and as they are high in both soluble and insoluble fibre it means good bacteria can house well in our gut - improving the overall health of our microbiome, and our stool is bulked to help eliminate wastes from our colon (large intestine). FUN FACT In this new fav combo there are pears and almonds (recipe will be one of the first to go up on my new website ) - both of which are what we call *lung* foods. They each help support the lungs functions and help nourish the delicate moisture the lungs need to be healthy. Our lungs play a huge role in our immunity and are more susceptible to the autumn (and winter) months. The lungs have a strong relationship with our large intestine (which can be strengthened by what I just mentioned above about bulking stool ). The lungs also have a strong relationship with the spleen and both of these organs affect our immunity. The spleen loves sweet - healthy sweet only that is!! In this case maple helps nourish this organ while oats are our spleens friend too!

10.01.2022 A few days ago I found myself so stressed and overwhelmed by everything. I didn’t realise how bad it was until I noticed two boils on my face - one very close to my eye which was starting to affect my eye moving freely. I was having very vivid dreams and was feeling so frizzled. Amongst all of the big world chaos going on there has been building next door on both sides of my house and downstairs too. I had also set myself deadlines to get website things finished, was resp...onding to lots of messages and phone calls and overall everything just got a bit much. Way too much actually. I realised I was letting outside things disrupt my internal environment and physically got a warning that I was pushing the line and letting stress affect me and it’s definately not an easy situation at the moment for anyone. The thing is I thought I wasn’t being as badly affected as I really was, eventhough I check in often. But the physical body responds so strongly. Since that happened I have been moving more slowly, focusing on REALLY enjoying the things I am creating and not worrying so much about how or when it will all happen and it has made a huge difference. Yoga, breathwork, meditation and being in nature has helped me as always and I have increased these things even more to get back into a healthy flow. I am so grateful for these amazing tools. I am always so intrigued by how our body speaks our mind and how simply we can move it back into a state of calm and I hope you are all using special tools like these to stay grounded too.

08.01.2022 http:// easy nourish bowl I’m sure you’ve caught on that I LOVE nourish bowls !! They are so simple yet so tasty and there is really no limit as to what you can do or add to create one. This one is a little Mexican inspired and is great because 3 of the veggies are roasted - and 2 of them don’t need any prep, so it’s really simple.... Serves 2 (if you’re flying solo use it as a leftover lunch, or multiply the recipe for more people) INGREDIENTS 300 g pumpkin cubes - skin on 1 medium sweet potato - keep whole 1 cob of corn - keep in the husk avocado - diced 1/8 red onion finely sliced good handful of English spinach - sliced few slices of Lebanese cucumber tin of borlotti (or other beans) 1/2 tsp cumin powder 1/2 tsp sweet paprika powder 1/2 tsp smoked paprika powder good salt + pepper chilli powder (optional) 150g raw unsalted macadamias 1/2 lime - juiced water salt whole stoneground corn tortillas - lightly toasted 1. roast the pumpkin (with a dash of coconut oil), corn and sweet potato till cooked and golden (in preheated oven) 2. while their roasting heat dash of coco oil in pan. Gently cook off spices then add rinsed beans. You can add a dash of water here if needed. Season to taste. 3. Blitz macadamias, lime juice, salt and enough water to cover the nuts in the blender (NutriBullet or equivalent strength) till a smooth cream like consistency. If needed you can add a little extra water. 4. Lightly toast tortillas 5. Plate up enjoy xx NB: I often used soaked beans and legumes but here I used a tin of borlotti beans. You can use any type you like and also use the dry and soaked version instead. You can also easily make wraps with this which is great for kids !

06.01.2022 http:// how to make a great nourish bowl Nourish bowls would have to be one of the easiest, most versatile and exciting ways to eat food. There are endless options of what to fill your bowl with and often I just see what I have on hand and add foods I have leftover to build a nutrient dense meal. Nourish bowls are for any number of people regardless if you’re single, just two or a family of 5+. They’re perfect if you’ve got visitors or are wanting to meal plan ahead for a few... days (prep up lots of different veggies eg roast, pickle etc then plate up when it’s meal time). Also, nourish bowls are amazing for incorporating more plants into your diet and broadening your tastes. If you’re making these for your family you can opt to let your kids build their own nourish bowl to get them excited about the textures and colors of foods while letting their creativity flow. Yes this could get messy . Some easy steps to follow for a great nourish bowl: - 1/4 protein source (tempeh, tofu, legumes like chickpeas, beans, lentils) - 1/4 whole grains (quinoa, rice, barley, buckwheat, spelt etc) - 1/2 vegetables : anything and everything (roasted, steamed, diced, mashed purées, sliced, grated fresh.... the list is endless) - add some good fats : avocado, nuts (I often have mine in the sauce, seeds (Pepita, sesame, sunflower, hemp), drizzle good olive oil, flax or hemp oil - add a little fermented foods if you like : miso in the sauce, krauts, pickled vegetables, tempeh is fermented etc - you can add some fresh herbs or spices to the foods you add to your bowl or add them as a garnish There are no real rules just guidelines for the perfect nourish bowl so just decide as you go from what you have on hand, what you’re feeling like and what your body might be asking for. Most importantly get creative!! Try new things..... Worst case if it wasn’t good either don’t make it again or learn how to improve it. I’d love to see your creations via #nourishedtemple .... by sharing you are also inspiring others M x

05.01.2022 http:// why is the ocean so therapeutic Not only does the ocean and other bodies of water cover a big percentage of our planet, our bodys’ are majority water too. I am always fascinated by the microcosm macrocosm relationship. Basically this explains a mini version of the bigger version. So the way our body functions mirrors how the planet functions. Also each cell in our body is like a mini planet with order and systems and... again is majority water. So roughly 2/3 of the... planet, body and each cell is water. That’s no coincidence !! Ancient cultures took note of what nature was doing to learn and work *with* it. In Chinese Medicine we treat in understanding the cycle of the sun in the sky, the ice caps below storing fresh water, that water is steamed up into the sky then rains back down through the earth, to then be purified by the soil, sand and stone to be released back into streams and lakes for some storage of fresh water and move into the ocean. Our physical body and our organs follow this same pattern or cycle, including the changes of season. It truly is amazing!! If we look at the water element (5 in Chinese Medicine : fire, earth, metal, water, wood) it is linked to the kidneys. Which makes sense as they filter around 180 lites of fluid per day - filtering the plasma (clear part of blood) and lymph fluid (part of immune system) in a continuous cycle. A small pyramid shaped gland is on each kidney called the adrenals. Although small they play a huge role in immunity, metabolism, blood pressure and stress response - they are hormone producing (some glands just secrete) and they make a number of hormones including aldosterone (regulates blood pressure) and cortisol - manages reactions to stress (with 2 other hormones). Cortisol also regulates sugar levels, blood pressure and metabolism. Also where large bodies of water break in the form of waves or waterfalls there are extremely high levels of negative ions. These are like an invisible healer and can enhance our mood and most aspects of our health. Being around water, can balance our water element, therefore strengthen our kidneys and therefore balance the function of our adrenals.

04.01.2022 http:// health is our greatest wealth We all want to feel our best, yet there are many factors that can create imbalance in our lives. The current global viral situation is a great reminder for us to slow down, remember what’s important and take our health and the amazing job our immune system does seriously. With the heightened collective unease I wanted to talk about how in Chinese Medicine our emotions affect our health.... Each of our organs is related to an emotion. Our spleen (pretty much one of the most important organs we have which is rarely talked about) is susceptible to worry and overthinking and our kidneys are related to the emotion of fear. Both worry and fear can weaken our immunity. Our spleen is responsible for extracting nutrients to build healthy cells and tissues and is the main organ of our lymphatic system which plays a HUGE role in our immune responses. Our adrenal glands sit on top of our kidneys and release stress hormones - in response to fear and stressful situations. If both of these organs are compromised we can experience an imbalance in our overall wellness. Our nervous system is also very strongly related to our immunity and I’m sure you’ve experienced getting sick or feeling unwell if you are stressed or run down. Some tips to moving with ease during these times are: keep calm and be prepared - not necessarily hoarding toilet paper but just preparing with a few extra supplies which can calm some of the worry rest up - aim to get good quality sleep and around 8 hours (ideally in bed by 10ish) as our detoxifying organs are working hard during the main night hours stay hydrated - opt for warm or room temperature water opposed to cold eat well - stay nourished with fresh wholesome vibrant foods stay updated but don’t get overwhelmed by media reports - there is a lot of information being circulated around the clock which can be intense *** continued in comments xx

03.01.2022 little intro to my future women’s health workshops

01.01.2022 http:// it’s time It’s time to bring your gifts and passion projects to life!! It’s coming up to @ilaandava second birthday and I still pinch myself! Mostly because I am so damn proud of myself for jumping and following through with this passion project after 6 years of working on it.... This was by far the hardest thing I have done, not because it was difficult to create as such, although it was definately not easy, but because my inner critic was so loud. Producing something that would go into peoples homes and they would use on their face and body daily was so daunting. There are so many factors that would race through my mind, the what if’s. It came down to planning, extra planning, researching and implementing serious systems so I could run this business on my own, make a beautiful product I could be proud of that followed my values and make it into a profitable business. For me it came down to feeling organised and comfortable with my product and systems so that I could let it go out into the world. I’m saying all of this because I would love to encourage you to use this down time to bring your dreams to life!! Those things you wanted to create but have hesitated about or have not had time to pursue. Regardless of income right now there is so much you can do to move forwards with your dream. Research and planning is key for every new venture and now is the perfect time to create a solid foundation to build something on. There is countless information on the internet to help you, although most of the important stuff comes from you. Question how would a customer view your product or service or whatever your dream is?, how would they use it?, how would they purchase it?, why would they want it? What sets it apart from others in your field? Use this time to get inspired by others who are doing something similar. The amount of information I collected during the planning years for my skincare range is huge. Folders and folders, countless images, paper scribbles. It is these processes that help manifest things into the physical. I have mentioned it several times, qi follows yi = energy / life force follows thought. Happy creating
