21.01.2022 This week is also birth trauma awareness week. (What a week for two amazing initiatives to sit hand in hand!) Although giving birth can be a wonderful experience for most families its not always that way...... 1 in 3 Australian women identify their birth as traumatic. Partners can experience birth-related trauma too.... An initiative by the Australasian Birth Trauma Association this years awareness week theme is Journeys where the sharing of unique and challenging journeys that many families face as they start parenthood helps raise awareness and for others to know they are not alone. #startingtheconversation provides families a platform to speak out instead of suffering in silence. The call is to health professionals to recognise how truly individual birth-trauma can be and hopefully encourage better support not only through the birth process but long afterwards. Many families often take a long time to have their trauma diagnosed and this may be why we see such fractured care pathways and such little recognition and support available. To follow their amazing work and initiative this week head to their IG page OR more information, head to their website OR sign up for their virtual fundraiser: https://fundraise.birthtrauma.org.au/event/walkntalk/ We wholeheartedly believe in the work of ABTA and stand with them in helping more women get the help they need both during pregnancy and postnatally. No woman should be suffering in silence. #birthtraumaawarenessweek2020

19.01.2022 Sometimes mum-life can feel a little isolating and very unlike your previous life. Rachel Leman of Miss Motivator Women's Workouts explores why joining a mums' fitness group can have many benefits, not only for your physical health but also for your mental health.

19.01.2022 **Trigger warning*** But we had to share. Its in the silence of mothers that stories like this are buried and things never change. No woman should have to go through a traumatic delivery and NOT get the FOLLOW UP care and support that she needs.... We stand with this brave woman who has shared her story in the hope that it moves the needle and helps to change the way women are looked after in their journey to motherhood. If you have had a traumatic delivery and are in need of support we recommend the following things you can do. Go back to your carer and ask for a full de-brief (if you feel able to go back) Visit a Womens Health Physiotherapist (ideally that is experienced in working with trauma - ask them) to gain confidence in understanding where your body is at right now and the right steps to move forward. Visit our friends at Australasian Birth Trauma Association (they have a private FB group where you can gain support) and Seek out a therapist that is experienced in Trauma to support you; we love Thea Baker Wellness And most of all, know you are not alone in what you are going through

17.01.2022 Social isolation - something we have all experienced to varying degrees this year. But when you are a new mum, the disconnection can be felt in ways you may never have experienced before. Louise of Strong Mums: Mums and Bubs Fitness, Gosford shares a very personal account plus also gives some great tips on how you can stay connected.

16.01.2022 We started the year with 23 fitness professionals and services with a shared mission to ensure that all women are looked after safely and effectively once they become a mother. We will end the year with 56. And from ALL 58 of us (including Jen Dugard & our trusty support Jac ) we want to thank YOU for choosing to be part of our community. ... Being a mum this year has been HARD and we know that the communities our team create offer support in so many ways AND we know that many of the women that train with our team pivoted and supported them throughout this year when we just couldn’t do things the same. And whatever 2021 brings we know we have built our skills, our resilience and our HEART and we will continue to look after the women that we work with to the best of our ability and to collectively raise the standard of our fitness industry. Watch this space mammas as this team is evolving and has some awesome stuff on the horizon for 2021. 12.01.2022 Woohoo!!! We are so excited to intro you to Brittiney Here is her #nomoreprebabybody message... "To me #nomoreprebabybody doesn't just speak for the body, it speaks for the mind too! Once we become mums, we can lose who we are so easily. ... Not only do we look in the mirror and see our pre baby body is no more, but we are also try to stay so strong because we are the mother of the family, we are the leaders. Deep down we are drowning and don't know where or who to turn to for help. My journey was not just about weight loss, it was never to recover my pre baby body, it was to find myself, to learn to love myself again, to challenge myself to beat my depression and anxiety. Once I became a mum,I lost the motivation to do anything for myself. I felt guilty, like I was being selfish. It mutated into a mental block where I just couldn't do anything for myself at all. I learned to push those barriers. I’ve finally gained control of my mind, through exercise I’ve learned how to challenge myself, how to be motivated again and smile every day. Each day I get closer to loving my body, and I'm ok with that. Things take time." You ROCK Brittany To join our mission take a photograph of YOURSELF, alone, with your kids or friends wearing something that represents this message for you with the #nomoreprebabybody hashtag written on your, your clothing or the image. Tag @bodybeyondbaby and share with us (and the world) so you can be represented too & so more and more women can see that no one size fits all and we are all BRAVE and STRONG and ENOUGH. We are all in this together and we can create real change!

06.01.2022 Tonight marks the start of our #nomoreprebabybody campaign for 2020. We are proud to be standing with the whole Body Beyond Baby affiliate team to share this important message. This campaign began in 2019 to PUSH-BACK on the ‘get your pre-baby body back’ pressure mums feel and that the fitness industry often drives (even if we don’t realise it) It’s about helping all women to truly understand that their worth is NOT wrapped up in the size of their body and that they do not n...eed to strive and punish themselves to look a certain way. Our key focus for 2020 has been diversity and inclusion and we feel we have come a long way since last year HOWEVER we know not everyone that see’s our images will feel represented and so; once again we are asking for YOU to get involved and share YOUR #nomoreprebabybody message or story, to represent YOU and all women. Now we are asking fellow mums to stand with us! To join our mission take a photograph of YOURSELF, alone, with your kids or friends wearing something that represents this message for you with the #nomoreprebabybody hashtag written on your, your clothing or the image. 06.01.2022 Mags from Mums Going Strong Fitness has some great information about toilet habits... Do you do any of these things One of the most common mistakes we as women do is to go to the toilet just in case. ... We do it before we leave the house or go to bed, even if we dont need to go. Its a bad habit! By doing this, we teach our bladder to send signals to our brain that is full even when it isnt. So cut out these just in case visits to the toilet. Of course, use your common sense to avoid accidents if there isnt a toilet when you need to go. And when you go, dont rush. Dont say, I will be quick and run. Your PF needs to be relaxed to allow urination, and when you rush and want to go quickly, you will probably try to force it and strain your PF. Even by making these simple changes, you can improve your bladder function. 06.01.2022 To wrap up our week of information for #womenshealthweek we have a final message for you from Brooke R S Wright And thats a wrap for Womans Health Week 2020 Its really important to know your own body, internally and externally, if something doesnt feel right, get it checked. ... The same applies when training or working out, there is no one way of training that suits every body type. If you have been doing one type of training that no longer feels like it is doing your body any justice then be open to change and find what feels right for you, at the stage of life you are in. Be open with your trainer as to what feels good and what does not, they cant feel what you feel. You want to make sure you are getting the most out of your training sessions, and they will want to provide you with the best possible sessions. Tune into your body and check for changes often, if you notice anything unusual or different please dont leave it. 04.01.2022 Can I return to exercise after my 6 week check? Do you know what happens at your 6-week check-up after having a baby? You probably expect a long, thorough chat about your birth, pregnancy and what should and shouldnt be happening now and in the future. ... But does this happen? And is your 6-week check-up really enough to resume your pre-baby activities? Midwife and trainer Anita of Fit For 2 explains why its usually not enough... Her latest article is now on our website

03.01.2022 We believe every mum deserves a Safe Return to Exercise What we currently offer is just not good enough. Many women leave the hospital after having their baby confused about what their body has been through during their birth experience.... They are given little to no information about where their body is right now, what to ‘expect’ or how to start to move into the exercise or movement they want to do safely & effectively. We are committed to changing that. The Safe Return to Exercise for New Mums BETA program was born on the 1st July and we have been testing it ever since. This is THE education that fills the gap between leaving the hospital or 6week check-up and returning to exercise or movement. It’s a forever FREE program that every mum needs to do. Raising the awareness of the information that needs to be given is the biggest hurdle in making sure all mums are looked after. You don’t know what you don’t know and unfortunately any women don’t seek this information until there is a problem (that often could have been avoided if they had had more knowledge) The BETA program is available for anyone to experience via this link - https://bodybeyondbaby.com.au/sre-program/ AND we are currently crowdfunding to be able to make a bigger IMPACT and help more Mothers. It’s an all or nothing campaign so we MUST hit the tipping point goal of $10k by the 31 Dec (the actual goal to make a huge difference is $40k ) We would absolutely love your support in ANY way that feels right Head to this link to find out more - https://startsomegood.com/safe-return-to-exercise-for-new-m Donate if you can Share our crowdfunding link with YOUR accompanying message of WHY you support this project Comment below and tag your friends
