17.01.2022 November’s word of the month is ‘Coeliac’ (pron. see-lee-ac). Coeliac is the name given to a disease where people are unable to tolerate gluten in their diet. Gluten is a protein found in wheat products, as well as barley and rye. Coeliac disease leads to damage of the lining of the small intestine which then leads to poor nutrient absorption by the body (aka malnutrition). This condition affects both sexes and all ages. It helps to move the arm backwards and also straighten the elbow. The word triceps stands for ‘three-heads’, which refers to the three attachment points of the muscle in the arm and shoulder region.
