25.01.2022 These are tough times for all Australians, if you need some inspiration look no further than Nat and Khan. #9News
25.01.2022 Do you need anything painted? Deck stained? My daughter’s delightful partner has been running a little painting business during his degree and is spending summer with us on the peninsula. He painted this whole Queenslander while we were on sabbatical and did a fabulous job. (It was custard yellow before.) If you are interested in getting a room or two spruced up, then PM me and I can put you in touch. He’s available immediately. More references available if required. Cheers, Jo
25.01.2022 How lovely are the rooms? Staff equally lovely

24.01.2022 As of 24 July 2020, the position for maternity patients coming to The Bays remains unchanged. Partners or a support person are welcome to stay for the duration... of admission. We are however encouraging that partners or the support person minimise their movements in leaving and returning to the hospital as much as possible. We thank you for you cooperation during this time. Wethe community #caringforthepeninsula #thebayshealthcaregroup #lovewhereyoulive See more
24.01.2022 Meet Emma Macreadie.....how divine is this wellbeing box she has created? Had to share. Two and a half years ago I was diagnosed with post natal depression, anxiety, and ptsd after the birth of my beautiful son. After a year and a half (including two perinatal psych ward admissions) I began to feel more myself so I decided I wanted to do something for mums who were going through similar or just a tough time in their motherhood journey no matter what the circumstance. That’s ...where I came up with my project in March last year called The ELM Care Box. I create and donate self care boxes for mummas doing it tough. I don’t profit from this at all, I purely do this as a passion and because I want mums to be reminded how important they are and how much they need to look after themselves too! This is all made possible by gorgeous local businesses donating their products and by raising money to buy different things including boxes, labels etc. the only thing I charge is $20 for the shipping or I can drop on a doorstep within 20km of my home. So far I have made around 200 boxes for mums all across Australia and also donated to perinatal psych wards and respite centres here in Victoria. I also just had a feature article on my project in the herald sun yesterday I am reaching out anywhere I possibly can to see if you might know of a mumma who is doing it tough right now (especially during these times) and I would love to make up a box for them! A gorgeous mum in your life who is going through some hard times and could do with some special self care time. I want to be able to create and donate as many self care hampers as I can for mummas all over Australia! X If there is a deserving mumma in your life please let me know!! Comment, message me, or check out my Instagram page @the_elm_carebox and I would be so honoured to put something together for them! My aim is to share a box of self care goodies with these women, raise as much awareness as I can about mental health in mummas and to share my story so others don’t feel so alone! If you got this far (haha) then thank you for reading and I hope I hear from some of you soon!

21.01.2022 Gosh - wouldn’t be too happy if my girls came home from daycare with a message written on their tummy!!!!!
21.01.2022 Just looking through some old documents and found a piece about when I started my business in Perth in 2002. It was originally called Babylon and the main focus was pregnancy meditation. I had just completed a course at the Perth Meditation Centre. I’m quoted as saying ‘even if you are having the best pregnancy, it is still nice to meet other mums and enjoy that special time in your life.’ And it definitely still applies.
21.01.2022 Stefanie Poole from Mumma Bees, and myself are doing a live Q &A using Zoom: On anything related to pregnancy, birth or beyond around COVID virus. We start tom...orrow am 10.30am. Will post link at 8.30am. Just go on the link and I will admit you. Very informal, just like our Coffee and Chats. No question too silly. Let's get rid of some of the myths out there, which are making women even more anxious than before. It's just 40 mins. If you miss it, it will be recorded. Stef will post it on her page. Hope to talk to as many as can make it. Don't forget your coffee and bikkies!!! See more
21.01.2022 Wonderful sleep tips here from Katie Cortes from Katie's Babies.
21.01.2022 Findings from a study published today in the journal, Nature Metabolism, has discovered that even moderate exercise during pregnancy increases a compound in breast milk that reduces a baby’s lifelong risks of serious health issues such as diabetes, obesity and heart disease. Kristin Stanford and her team from The Ohio State Wexner Medical Centre - including researchers at the University of California, San Diego, Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center, and the Joslin Diabetes Ce...nter - studied mice born from sedentary mothers and fed them milk from mothers who were active throughout pregnancy. They found that the health benefits from fit mums transferred to the pups, proving that they were, in fact, passed through breast milk and not simply inherited genetic traits. Researchers also followed about 150 pregnant and postpartum women using activity trackers and found that those who had more steps per day had an increased amount of a compound known as 3SL in their breast milk, which they believe is responsible for these health benefits. "The increase in 3SL were not necessarily related to exercise intensity, so even moderate exercise like a daily walk is enough to reap the benefits," said Stanford, an associate professor of physiology and cell biology at Ohio State's Dorothy M. Davis Heart and Lung Research Institute. "Exercise is also great for your overall health during and after pregnancy, so anything you can do to get moving is going to benefit both you and your baby." Because many women are unable to breastfeed or experience complications that require bed rest, researchers are examining if they can isolate this beneficial compound found in the breast milk of active moms and add it to infant formula. "This human milk oligosaccharide had a significant impact on offspring healthy. Being able to add this into formula could provide benefits for babies when women aren't able to breastfeed," Stanford said.
21.01.2022 Important information
20.01.2022 . When your baby is born, no matter what the mode of delivery, he or she may be covered with a thick white paste called vernix caseosa. If you are overdue there... may be less or even no vernix. This is because the later the gestation, the more chance there is that it has already been absorbed. The World Health Organisation advises delaying baby’s first bath for at least six hours although 24 hours is ideal. (The exception is to wash it off if the baby has meconium staining or if mum has HIV or hepatitis.) @ Noosa, Queensland See more
20.01.2022 Check this out. A great way to connect with other local mums
20.01.2022 Are you pregnant or know someone that is pregnant? We are halfway through writing Pregnancy Wellbeing and are looking for pregnant women to fill out a very quick questionnaire about resources that women access during their pregnancy. Thanks so much, Jo and Jolyon https://forms.gle/oAbtRLqxDDwTBnkF8

18.01.2022 A beautiful post to start the day
16.01.2022 When it comes to baby names it seems that the posher you are the greater the need to call your offspring something completely and utterly ridiculous. Perhaps unsurprisingly most of these announcements are not from The Daily Star, but from The Telegraph.

13.01.2022 Guess who stole the show at our breast feeding drop in this morning! Too cute for words, best friends holding hands.. But seriously it was such a lovely morni...ng - just spending time with one another, listening to each other's stories, hearing the struggles. And hopefully starting to heal some of that difficult breast feeding journey, by finally gaining some HANDS ON support. Often the interventions needed are only slight, but can make a huge difference to a difficult latch, or a latch that has never been deep enough for baby to become milk drunk. Or even stay on the breast for longer than a couple of minutes. Cannot wait for next week, and helping more mum's to the help that they need to MOVE ON and SUCCEED. No need to book next week. Babies not included in nos as from 22nd June. When you are looking for us: turn off Rutherford Rd into Keppler Crt. We are number 3 on left hand side. See photo below. Thank you Rachel and Lisa for a great start. See more
13.01.2022 Another adorable sibling
13.01.2022 . Everyone reacts differently to a positive pregnancy test. How did you feel? I remember seeing the two lines and feeling numb. What would pregnancy be like for me??? I was lucky enough to share my second pregnancy journey with a wonderful friend @helencrowleyart and we had many laughs - it definitely helped! Our daughters, Poppy and Rose were both a few days apart at the same hospital. If you are pregnant or have a pregnant friend, tag them and urge them to come along to Bodybump pregnancy Aqua. A fabulous way to meet other local mums to be. Great for your body and the float is perfect for your mental health. Who wouldn’t want to float weightlessly in the water especially at this time of year? Call Jo on 0414 781826
13.01.2022 When I was pregnant I used to describe how I felt in my first trimester as feeling permanently hungover. So where did that term originate???? (Would not want to be hanging over a rope all night during pregnancy, that’s for sure!!!)
13.01.2022 Not pregnancy related but fun to see the adult versions!
13.01.2022 Check this out. So great to hear about more support for women.

10.01.2022 Exercising during pregnancy is recommended but high intensity training needs to be avoided. Check this article out for more information. https://www.google.com.au//high-exercise-levels-early-pre/
10.01.2022 Nice to do something else for a change.
09.01.2022 Jolyon always wanted to call our first born daughter Cinammon Ford. I talked him out of it and won with Lily Agnes Ford. Jolyon was named after a character in the Forsyth Saga because his mum was pregnant with him when it was on tv. (He has spent his lifetime spelling it out of course!) Are you considering or did you consider a unique name?
09.01.2022 Many of you know that I love yoga and I’m writing a chapter about antenatal yoga in the book. I’m just reading a piece of actual research carried out by St Thomas’ Hospital in London where Jolyon trained. The conclusion was that antenatal yoga seems to be useful for reducing women’s anxieties toward childbirth and preventing increases in depressive symptoms. No surprises there

08.01.2022 Despite not being the biggest McDonald's fan, I think this is a really sweet Mother's Day video. It is really interesting to find out what pregnant girls crave. I craved black olives which I loathed before getting pregnant. Now I love all olives. But I can honestly say McD's pickles - nah!!! If you are not able to see your precious mum this Mother's Day, share this video with her and tell her that you love her. For my mum Sheila Dewey-cox xxxxxxxx
07.01.2022 I know Tessa as she attended a Bodybump Aqua with her second son. She has such a lovely nature and I have no hesitation in recommending her Hypnobirthing course. Check her out if you are keen.
