25.01.2022 It’s quite likely when we first start working together (and often for a long time after), that you have the desire to lose weight. Although this is something that we won’t be actively working towards in our sessions together, I don’t judge you for having that desire. We’re bombarded with the weight loss message from every angle, so it’s probably going to hang around for a while. If you feel like you are ready to, when we work together I’ll ask you to put that desire on the back-burner so that we can work on improving your health and wellbeing in the body you have now. If you’re not quite ready for that yet, that’s ok! Just remember that I’ll be here when you are. Check out this link if you're looking for more info about what to expect when we work together on your health and nutrition concerns https://buff.ly/2I3KMGh

25.01.2022 Dieting and meal plans set you up for an ongoing cycle of restriction and bingeing so that you feel so disconnected from yourself that you are convinced you can’t be trusted around food. The last thing I want to do is add to your distress around food, eating and your body - and this is one of the many reasons why we won't be going down the rabbit hole of meal plans when we work together. 24.01.2022 As we start a new week, remember that when things get busy at work, at home (or both!), you still need to stop. And you still need to eat. Often we can put off that meal or snack because we are making sure everyone else is looked after. Your energy levels, mental wellbeing, nutrition and productivity are just as important as anyone else's.

24.01.2022 "Sorry for talking so much!" is a sentence that I hear all to often when seeing women for food and body image concerns. Your story holds one of the main keys to working through your concerns, and you never need to apologise for telling it - no matter how many words it takes. When we work together we're a team, and your insight is just as valuable as any advice I could offer you.

23.01.2022 Times of high stress can often make us lean a little heavier on the coping strategies we have available to us. If you are finding that comfort eating is becoming more regular, or you are spending more time worrying about your body image, you are certainly not alone. It also doesn't help that the pressure to diet and change our bodies only seems to have gotten louder during this time. Sharing your worries with someone you trust can be a great place to start, and can also help you to come up with extra coping strategies for when things get tough. This may be a friend, family member, mental health professional or someone else you trust. I'm here for you too. If you would like help with finding a more positive relationship with food and your body, I'd love to support you. Feel free to get in touch, and we can work it out together.

21.01.2022 Last week I sent out a newsletter, for the first time in quite a while. It’s all about how I’ve been managing the current situation and how it may be affecting our eating patterns and body image. I’d love to provide some more support for you all during this time - so to make sure upcoming content meets your needs, it also includes a couple of questions around what you'd find most helpful. If you haven’t signed up yet but would like quick newsletter check ins with information about how to form a more positive relationship with food and your body, you can subscribe via the button at the top of the page, or via my website. Thanks again for your ongoing support of me and my little business

19.01.2022 ~New blog post~ I'm not going to lie, putting your hand up for help with your food and body image concerns can be scary. It can be even more intimidating if you've never seen a non-diet dietitian before and have no idea what to expect. Check out my post below to get a really good understanding of how we might work together, and feel free to get in touch if you still have questions ... https://buff.ly/2I3KMGh

18.01.2022 Sometimes we just need a little reminder

17.01.2022 If we really dig deep, often we uncover underlying reasons for starting a diet or meal plan, such as: - I feel like I can’t trust myself - I have a lot of stuff going on with the rest of my life and I want to feel like I’m working towards and achieving something positive - I’m trying to distract myself from other aspects of my life that are distressing me - I can’t control other aspects of my life, so I’m keen to get at least one thing in order ... These thoughts and feelings are so valid (and really common, so you're not alone!). However, no matter how nutritious your meal plan is, it’s never going to address those concerns, and any eating behaviours that were causing you distress will likely be amplified in the long run. Accessing mental health support from a psychologist whilst working on your nutritional concerns with a non-diet dietitian can be so helpful in addressing your food and body image concerns from every angle. --- Looking for support? - Check out https://buff.ly/30PI67P to find a HAES psychologist to support your mental health - Get in touch if you’d like to work through your nutritional concerns together I’d love to help!

16.01.2022 Great reminder by @feelgoodeating Day to day (and meal to meal), normal eating can look like: eating enough to feel satisfied, not quite eating enough and craving more or eating past comfortable fullness. Regardless of how you've eaten today, guilt doesn't have to be part of your eating experience. P.S. Give Nina from @feelgoodeating a follow (if you haven't already!) for lots more non-diet wisdom

13.01.2022 Diet culture would like us to believe that we are only worthy of doing the things that make us feel good once we have reached an unattainable number on a scale. Well, I believe that diet culture can go and get stuffed. Your body is never something you need to apologise for, and you deserve to do what you enjoy without changing it.

11.01.2022 Navigating diet chat at work can be tricky, but just know that however you choose to protect yourself in the moment is enough - whether that means speaking out or walking away. ---- Repost via Nadia Maxwell - Dietitian - give her a follow for more nuggets of wisdom

11.01.2022 Working through your concerns with food and body image is certainly quite the process - but it's so worth it. --- Looking for support? ... Check out www.bodyconfidentnutrition.com.au/contact to get in touch See more

09.01.2022 Hearing your story is a privilege that I certainly don’t take lightly, and it's my hope that you feel supported enough to share what you feel is relevant to our work together. --- Curious about what you can expect from a session together? 08.01.2022 You don't have to wait until you've lost weight to do the things that make you happy. You are worthy now.

07.01.2022 Love this quote by nayyirah waheed and I think it encapsulates a big part of why I love working in this space so much. Whether we're working through distressing eating behaviours or you're sharing a massive win, you will be heard. Your experience matters, and I feel so privileged to hear your stories everyday.

06.01.2022 No matter how much diet culture tries to convince you otherwise, you are always worthy just as you are. --- Repost The F It Diet ---

05.01.2022 Food cravings are not a character flaw - they are a natural part of being human which happen to help us to stay alive.

03.01.2022 Times of high stress can often make us lean a little heavier on the coping strategies we have available to us. 03.01.2022 Often when I see someone for their first appointment, they might be reluctant to tell me what they eat because they worry I will judge them. I listen to people talk about what they eat every day, and I can promise you that there will be no judgement here. I’m generally a lot more interested in how you feel about your eating than the actual foods themselves, so feel free to share as much as you are comfortable with.

02.01.2022 If you can, resist the urge to fall down the rabbit hole of comparison. You are enough and you are doing enough, even if it doesn't always feel like it.
