16.01.2022 How isolation can slow down your progress & what you need to change now gyms are open. We all have that friend who can eat anything they like & not gain a kilogram, or that other friend who looks at a candy bar and turns into a puffer fish. This all comes down to metabolic flexibility. Over the last three months most of us have seen a dramatic exercise reduction & calorie surplus. These changes may have led to weight gain along with reduced metabolic flexibility. So what do w...e need to do now to springboard our results & get our bodies functioning optimally. Optimal mitochondrial function is a key to increasing our metabolic flexibility, so lets look at what that means & how to optimise it. What are mitochondria? Mitochondria are tiny organelles in your cell that break down electrons from the food we eat to create ATP. As part of our oxidative metabolism, which uses oxygen to transfer energy from carbs, fat, and protein, mitochondria produce ATP that powers all physiological processes. When mitochondrial function decreases we can find energy levels go down & it also becomes difficult to lose body fat. How do mitochondria impact exercise performance? It makes sense that mitochondria will have a positive impact on exercise performance being the powerhouse of the cell converting fuel into energy. By increasing our exercise activity it can lead to a greater yield of mitochondria in the cells thus increasing our calorie burning capacity. Simply put when everything is functioning well we can eat more, train harder & do more. What dietary changes can I change to increase my mitochondrial function? 1) Avoid added sugar & refined carbohydrates 2) Eat omega-3 fats from fish because these fats will help improve mitochondrial function 3) Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. Brightly coloured plant foods contain antioxidants that will reduce damage to mitochondria 4) Dont shun saturated fats 5) Supplement magnesium this will also help manage your delayed onset muscle soreness By increasing your time in the gym & fine tuning your diet, youll be able to fire up your mitochondria to dramatically improve your health & fitness. Now is the perfect time to lower your carbohydrate intake inline with your huge spike in aerobic activity this will dramatically help in getting your mitochondrial function back to normal in turn losing the Rona-kilos!

16.01.2022 Hey fam Victorian government has today announced new restrictions coming into place as of midnight Wednesday. These new restrictions will mean the studio will have to close our doors Wednesday night. Normal sessions until then but please if you have any cold symptoms stay at home. As of Thursday we will be moving online with BFT2U 2.0. ... We learnt so much from the first round we will be working even harder to keep everyone engaged over the coming weeks. We learnt that it is the community & human interaction that keeps us together. We will be adding new layers to the BFT community with the support of all seven coaches We will update everyone over the next 24 hours with everything you need to know. 16.01.2022 BFT Bendigo TURNS 1 Well will you look at that BFT Bendigo is 1 already. Pretty amazing 12 months of training, laughs, sore legs & coffees. There has been some awesome highlights from launch day with BFTs highest members on day 1, to an epic xmas party where they ran out of beers n limes, some killer cardio summit sessions & amazing weight loss journeys.... & of course some lows when the Bendigo car bandit stole Jaynes meal prep & we are still on the hunt for the shampoo thief! We are so blessed to have Bendigos strongest community which was really shown over the Covid lock down. The energy and support from everyone over the last few months has been sensational. Huge thanks to all the staff working the long hours, scraping ice off their cars in the dark each morning when most of the world is sleeping to run the sessions we cant thank-you all enough! Only Jay, Jayde & Reece got to see it but these 2 did more zoom sessions than anyone of a morning. Some mornings it would just be them in their lounge rooms taking up the lives in the cold. ... If you have seen Jenn in the studio youll be able to see the amazing transformation she has been working on all of 2020. Seeing the great progress continue over the isolation period is really incredible.
