24.01.2022 In true Heck family style, we have changed our family farewell from this upcoming Sunday (Father’s day) to Saturday (31st August). It is the perfect opportunity to end our time here in Middlemount with a community event The Middlemount Bowls Classic. This will be a great day for all to enjoy some good ol’ fashioned cracker jack bowls, a bbq, some cold bevies’ and even a chance to win the lotto, well $700 prize pool LOL. Hope to see you there! ... 05.01.2022 THANK YOU AND FAREWELL TO MIDDLEMOUNT FROM THE HECK FAMILY On behalf of my family I would like to say HUGE THANK YOU to Middlemount for embracing our family over the last 7 years. Our time in Middlemount has allowed many opportunities for my family. Firstly, through my husband’s employment with AngloAmerican (a great chance to be a stay at home mum for as long as I could or wanted to be) academically (the community school which strives to ensure the best for our children) an...d sport and other extra-curricular activities (definitely the Heck families biggest love). We have encountered so many amazing people and personally my heroes Karen Kidd and Mark Anderson who work tirelessly to be involved and support everything there is to offer in Middlemount. With this said, our family also has had the opportunity to be involved with or simply support the local sporting clubs, Isaac regional council, community churches, local businesses and the biggest supporter of Middlemount namely AngloAmerican. We were lucky to experience a free town Christmas party every year, the greatest annual race day event, a rugby league club run by solid volunteers to stage community sport and entertainment, a bowls and golf club primarily run by volunteers to hold community gatherings or sports events, a youth club accommodating to teenager activities from the school chaplain, a community church catering to younger children with kids club. I am sure you get my drift and apologise if have missed anyone. But, I would like to add that the most memorable experience personally was the 30 year celebrations of the township of Middlemount. It left me amazed in where Middlemount came from to where it is today. We have also had the unpleasant feeling when good friends have come and gone. It is the nature of the beast living in a mining town. But, this is where we have lived and learned in the experiences we had and evolved as a family. It is our time to move on, and although we are looking ahead our family will always remember where we came from, because our kids were born and raised here. Thanks Middlemount Lastly, in true community spirit I would like to help promote the Middlemount Bowls Classic. Our family will be attending this event and we have so many people we would love to see before the move as time is of the essence. So, in the event that you are in town this weekend come and enjoy some Cracker Jack fun with bowls, a bbq and some cold bevie’s. Hope to see you there!
