25.01.2022 While working in Stanthorpe I met a lot of people who had sold their houses, bought a caravan or motorhome and hit the road for a holiday with no end date. Guess what the most common thing they heard from other people was? "I wish I could do that".... This year I've found a level of self care I've never known before. I'm going for treatments, doing a daily practice, taking art classes and resting whenever I need. Guess what I hear from other people who have sacrificed their own needs in favour of doing what they "should do"? You got it: "I wish I could do that". Next time you find yourself saying you'd like to be able to do something, I invite you to consider who is telling you that you can't? Is it low self worth which says you don't deserve it? Is it your parents from when you were 5 who told you that the chores had to be done before you had fun? If it's truly important to you, you can always do it. If your inner voice is saying "It's just not that easy...", reach out to me because I can help you find another perspective. What are the things you wish you could do but haven't made happen yet? By typing it out you're already one step closer! Make your first step now by writing in the comments that thing you've been wanting to do, no matter how big or small! Words have incredible power! : Various things I've had a crack at

25.01.2022 Last weekend I took a course with the author of The Secret Language of Your Body, Inna Segal. One major reminder was that we need to SLOW DOWN in order to hear our body's wisdom! There's so much our bodies can tell us, and being an interpreter for this language is my favourite job ever

23.01.2022 I used to hate my nose. I hated how it stuck up at the end. I thought it looked like a pig’s nose. When I finished uni and started earning money, I found a plastic surgeon, Dr Tan, who specialised in rhinoplasty with a great portfolio who worked out of Sydney. I completed the online application and phone consultation, I had $7000 in the bank, and I was booked and waiting to go to his clinic for my first appointment. I was at a party with some new friends and one of the guys a...pproached me and said he needed to tell me something that might sound weird. He said I have a girlfriend and I’m not hitting on you, but I just have to tell you that I love your nose!. I was dumbfounded. MY horrible nose? But it was enough to help me realise that not everyone shared my opinion on my appearance. I postponed my plastic surgery appointment, and eventually cancelled altogether. Years later, I happened to be doing a face reading exercise during the Emotional Anatomy course, and it dawned on me that my nose was in fact evidence of my inherent qualities as a person. It wasn’t a good or bad shape, it was a me shape. I learned that the nose symbolises my personal power. By rejecting mine I was actually rejecting my own identity, and my ability to be energised by allowing my true self to be seen. When I look back at all the problems I had back then, it makes total sense! So finally, thanks to understanding what different body parts actually mean, I learned to love my nose exactly as it was! And reclaim that part of myself that I’d rejected for all those years. The first photo is around the time I booked in for surgery, and the second is from THE NIGHT that Russ planted that seed for me: that the way I saw myself wasn’t necessarily what others were seeing. Does this look like a nose that needs changing to you?? If you are rejecting any parts of your body, there is a part of your own personality and personal history that you’re rejecting too. It could even be a strength of yours! There is so much we can learn from the mind-body connection, and helping people understand theirs is one of my favourite things in the world! So don't go getting surgery until you've spoken with me first, ok?

23.01.2022 If you're putting up with neck pain and headaches, STOP IT! There might be something deeper going on that you haven't addressed yet! Put an Emoji in the comments if you'd like a copy of my cheat sheet which shows the layers you need to look at to fix your problems

21.01.2022 THREE THINGS I LEARNED ABOUT MYSELF BY STUDYING BODY READING: 1. I can be prone to anger - more on this soon (seen in body type and torso alignment) 2. I was holding back my voice/ my truth (neck symptoms/appearance) 3. I had some serious work to do on my self esteem (a chronic stiff area in my back)... These insights were just the tip of the iceberg, but I suddenly had a way to hone in on where I'd been stuck. I found ways to move towards physical and emotional balance and gained a whole new level of self awareness and understanding of others. My life got better in more ways than I could have imagined. If you’re curious to find out what your appearance says about you, I've collated all of my knowledge to present a personalised Body Interpretation Report, which reveals all types of quirks and patterns that you may have, with or without your prior knowledge. It could help you find more acceptance for yourself, and may lead you towards a better life! SIDE BENEFIT: I’m pretty sure what I learned from mine has made me better looking too ;) Comment or send a message if you’d like me to save you a spot, for the next 5 people it is 50% off. Deal and a half I wish I’d have learned all of this 15 years ago.. but I’m so excited to be able to offer it NOW because I’ve seen it change so many lives already!

21.01.2022 A friend recently asked me about a niggly pain in his shoulder and how to get to the bottom of it (as he'd had the same problem previously and it resolved spontaneously on holiday). My answer is on two levels because the way I see it, we need to address the physical side AND energetic side when dealing with pain. Everyone is different, but I've outlined some common themes here. Many people who end up seeing me don't know why their pain keeps coming back. I tell them it's be...cause their treatment has been incomplete, NOT because it's old age and/or untreatable! Have you had pain in your shoulders before? Could it have been linked to any of the issues I've described here? It's the tip of the iceberg, but I think if more people knew this, there would be a lot less pain and suffering in the world!

21.01.2022 If you have lower back pain, you'll want you hear this! Drop a :) in the comments if you'd like me to send you my free report on the 6 deeper reasons for low back pain.

18.01.2022 It made my week to see so many people at Cotton Tree yesterday giving their backs some love with my "Movement for Low Back Pain" class. The Kindness Collective is a wonderful local community and it was great to meet and share with its members! I'm looking towards more in person and perhaps online classes in the near future. Let me know if you have any requests

16.01.2022 I THOUGHT I WAS BEING SHALLOW, BUT THIS DEEPER REASON FOR ATTRACTION BLEW MY MIND! In 2008 I'd been dating a guy who seemed perfect to me. He was fun to be around, he was a professional surfer, he was great-looking, ate healthy, everything seemed ideal. Until that night that changed everything. I happened to wake up very early one morning and saw him sleeping. He looked like a deathly urchin creature from the underworld. I couldn't believe it, and I knew I wouldn't be able ...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Most people I see with long term or chronic injuries have been swept into this spiral in some way. Maybe they've done too much and had their butt kicked with more pain, or maybe they've become afraid of testing their body because they don't want to make it worse. The answer to this is challenging the body in manageable ways. Knowing what the tissues can handle, and then working them to the edge of that, and allowing time to recover. ... If there's something you want to do pain free - for example running - start with smaller, lower impact versions of that activity. Then the challenge can be increased as the body gets stronger. Small versions of running could be single leg squats, step ups, hops and lunges. It only takes a little imagination, and the pain can be gone! #painrelief #chronicpain #bodyawareness #selfhealing #rehabilitation #lowbackpain

15.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who started the weekend with some healthy movement and meditation at my lower back class with The Kindness Collective. It was fantastic to see some new and familiar faces and to share some back care tips and exercises! For those of you interested in the ebook on how emotions can contribute to back pain, please check your email. If you can’t find it or forgot to give me your details, please message me or comment here so I can share it with you :) There are ...also a couple of places left at my workshop this coming Wednesday on the deeper causes of lower back pain at 5:30pm @Worx Health and Fitness. Let me know if you’d like to join, it includes all the things I wish everyone knew from the perspective of a physio and health coach. I hope you’re all enjoying this rain as much as the grass at Cotton Tree Park will be!

14.01.2022 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF IF YOU HAVE A HEADACHE: 1. Have I had enough water in the last 24 hours? 2. Have I been in the same posture for a while? 3. Am I too in my head at the moment?... 4. Do I need rest? I’d love to hear what your headache remedies are! My top four are in the comments

13.01.2022 I THOUGHT I WAS ZEN AF UNTIL I UNDERSTOOD BODY TYPES Years ago I appeared to be healthy, I had healthy habits like eating whole foods and doing regular exercise. I even did yoga and drank filtered water. I thought I was doing everything I could, but I still struggled with energy levels and motivation a lot of the time. I also tended to have a bad time in relationships but that’s a story for another day! I attended a course on personalised health which included a section on bo...dy types, and the information pointed me out to be someone who was prone to anger. Not me!, I said! I’m never angry, I don’t have arguments and I definitely never feel the need to hit things or scream out loud.. I was almost offended that it would be suggested that I could get angry. The research obviously had no idea what it was talking about. A few days later I was getting ready for work, listening to a fascinating podcast on mindset while eating my breakfast. I was listening intently as I walked over to quickly rinse my plate. As the water went down the sink hole, it made a loud gurgling noise and drowned out the voices on the podcast. Internally I RAGED at the water, F. stupid water! F making a noise and now I’ve missed some words and I’ll have to F. rewind it now FFS... I froze. Wait a minute. That seemed a lot like anger. Omg. I AM prone to anger! I had no idea! Over the weeks that followed I noticed just how much I would silently get angry about things. It was like an automatic reflex. I’d get angry with my clothes for being inside out, or angry at cars for going the speed limit!? I’d be angry at myself for dropping something on the floor. It went on and on. This had been there for years, I just hadn’t been conscious of it before. I realised that even though I didn’t snap at people or push tables over, I needed to find ways to move that energy so that it didn’t end up causing me mental or physical health problems. I was amazed that as I looked at my thoughts more, my physical energy responded positively too. I worked this into my sessions with clients and their results took off as well! I wonder how many of us have thoughts or emotions that are holding us back from our best health that we don’t even know about. I LOVE helping people shine light on these things. I also wonder what else is hiding in my mind that I haven’t even noticed yet! Have you ever found yourself getting angry about silly things? Tell me about it!

11.01.2022 FUN AND A HALF ... is how I would describe our Movement for Stress Relief class for The Kindness Collective this morning. I LOVED bringing laughs and unusual surprises to what has been a tough year for some, plus some self care at a time of year that life can get hectic! ... Thanks to everyone who came down to Alex this morning! I'll be hosting one more event this year, stay tuned

10.01.2022 Unhelpful things that medical professionals have said to people struggling with pain. These are all disempowering statements that leave the person without answers. If the tests look fine and there's still pain, we need to look deeper. I've found that often when scans and blood tests come back ok, the symptoms tend to have a less visible source, like emotional stress and life problems which are needing attention. ... If you haven't found answers yet keep looking, because your symptoms are a message. #chronicpain #chronicillness #holistichealth #bodysignals #painrelief

07.01.2022 Self awareness and body awareness are central to my work with clients. When someone finds a new level of understanding of themselves, it creates a better environment for healing to take place. Sometimes all people need is just a little help with shifting their perspective, and their pain can disappear. ... #healfromwithin #selfawareness #selfhealing #waynedyer #quoteoftheday

07.01.2022 Hey you! Stop taking life so seriously! Can you think of one funny thing that happened today? If not, you'd better go make one. #laughteristhebestmedicine #mindbodyhealth #bodyinterpreter

06.01.2022 We can't stay in our comfort zone AND grow. We can't avoid challenge AND expect to expand. Whether it's strengthening our muscles, gaining knowledge or having better relationships, they all involve some kind of discomfort before the goal is reached. ... Each time we move stretch ourselves to reach those goals, we find a new level of personal power, confidence, and trust in ourselves. #personalgrowth #garyzukav #selfawareness #garyzukavquote #howtoheal #selfhealer #confidence

02.01.2022 Have you heard of the placebo effect? It's where people heal their bodies with the power of their mind. They believe that a fake medication they've taken is going to cure their illness. Cool, huh? One of the biggest predictors in whether a client in a therapy setting is going to get better is whether or not they believe they can. If they trust the therapist, that helps! How amazing is that?! Do you tend towards optimism, or are you more likely to focus on the reasons someth...ing WON'T work? #selfhealer #selfawareness #mindbodycoach #placeboeffect #colinpowell #quoteoftheday #dailymotivation

01.01.2022 MOVING FROM ‘EXPERT’ TO ‘GUIDE’ When I graduated Physio I felt like a fresh P plater. Do people really trust me to be out on my own doing this? Then 10 years later I got to supervise new grads and realised how far I’d come. I realised that I knew a LOT about the body. I looked at injuries and knew how to ‘fix’ them, but I wanted to look deeper. I began to notice patterns when I learned about chakras, genetics and the mind-body connection. I saw people have miraculous recover...ies from chronic pain when we considered their LIFE SITUATION as well as their body. My obsession with knowing how energy (thoughts, beliefs) affect matter (our tissues) was born. I wanted to pull together all of the knowledge on this subject and make a definitive this means that resource that people can refer to and cure their ailments. My goal was to become a renowned mind-body expert, but the dozens of books I read in the field weren’t consistent. Neither were the courses I attended. Shit. But seven years later, I found the answer. Every person knows how to heal (or find peace) provided they have a safe space. Maybe they need to be asked the ‘right’ questions, or assisted to direct attention to where their wisdom lies. But it’s always there. Every one of us is the expert on who we are and what we've been through. So my challenge now is to stop diagnosing and prescribing, which has been a central part of what I've done for 18 years. I’m unlearning being the expert, and making room for being the guide. There is 1000% definitely the need for experts in the world, I’ve simply realised that I wasn’t put on this Earth to be that kind of practitioner. I’m here to assist people through transitions and transformations. I help people who are frustrated with their problems and aren’t willing to accept it as their new normal. I show people their power so they can enjoy life rather than being a victim of it. I help people re-discover and love who they truly are. Yes I'm an expert on human bodies, but you're the expert on YOU. ...and I think that makes a pretty good team

01.01.2022 **LAST EVENT FOR 2020!** This class started as a "Movement for Neck Pain and Headaches" class... But then I remembered that whenever people see me for neck pain and headaches at this time of year, 100% of them come to realise with MindBody awareness techniques that it's actually their body's way of showing STRESS! ... It seems to be contagious at this time of year, and it certainly shows up in many more ways than a sore neck. So rather than add to the frantic energy of "getting things fixed" I decided to offer an oasis amongst the craziness: an hour of centring, grounding, self awareness, fun and a few laughs to help loosen some minds and bodies amidst the December madness. I'm looking forward to sharing this experience with a selection of awesome Sunny Coasters next weekend! I hope to see you there
