07.01.2022 Water must stay in motion; it has a rhythm, a cycle which is primarily ruled by the movement and gravitational pull of the moon. The daily expansions and contractions of the oceans in the tides is like the breathing cycle of the Earth. The moon is yin, the receptive, feminine, relating to the subconscious. Water in turn has these same characteristics. The state of Water energy in your body may reflect the state of your emotions. Like the planet, you can also have drought and floods, stagnant pools and fresh flowing streams.

The same action after we exhale is called the bahya kumbhaka the emptying. . On a physiological level, this purposeful suspension increases our carbon dioxide levels sending signals to the medulla which slow our heart rate and respiratory system, returning us to a state of calm and focus.
