25.01.2022 Check out our weekly update! We say goodbye to Emma Martin at the end of next week and hello to Phoebe Conway from PheebsFoods for all your nutrition needs :)

24.01.2022 Info Post: Tendons vs Ligaments What is the difference between a Tendon and Ligament? Both tendons and ligaments are made up of fibrous connective tissue. However, ligaments attach bone to bone and help stabilise joints; and tendons are located at the end of a muscle and attach muscle to bone ... The most common injury to a ligament is a sprain. This is when a ligament is overstretched or torn. The most common injury to a tendon is either a strain; where it is overstretched or torn, or a tendinopathy; where the tendon becomes inflamed due to overuse. #bodyplusphysiotherapy #physiotherapy #physio #stonyfell #adelaide #ligamentinfo #tendoninfo #ligamentinjury #tendinopathy #learnmore #bodyawareness #educate #wecanhelp #ligamentvstendon #physioinfo See more

23.01.2022 Telehealth consultations now available With the recent recommendations set by the World Health Organisation and Australian Government involving social distancing and self-isolation to mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus, we understand that this may limit physical access to the BodyPlus clinic and our services Therefore, to enable our patients to have access to ongoing treatment, we have introduced telehealth (video) consultations through @physitracklimited... Whilst telehealth consultations do not allow for hands on therapy, various face-to-face assessment techniques; exercise sessions; and education can continue to be used to allow for appropriate injury management So, if you are unable to make it into the BodyPlus clinic for any reason, book a telehealth appointment with one of our physios or exercise physiologists! #bodyplusphysiotherapy #physiotherapy #physio #exercisephysiology #adelaide #stonyfell #telehealth #physitrack #videolink #healthpromotion #accessinghealth #coronavirus #covid19

22.01.2022 Unfortunately, the BodyPlus clinic will be closed for the next two days Due to COVID-19 isolation recommendations from SA Health, Tatum will be working from home, but she will still continue to offer telehealth consultations and classes A close family member is awaiting COVID-19 test results, after having been in direct contact with a positive case.... We will keep you updated and appreciate your ongoing support! #covid19 #isolation #clinicclosure

21.01.2022 Please see our latest update regarding how we are implementing a hand sanitisation station and telehealth consultations in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.

16.01.2022 Patients will often ask if they need a scan on their injury Whilst diagnostic imaging can be a very useful tool to see how different tissues look, they don't always reflect how a patient feels For example, a patient may present with severe pain, but their scan shows no tissue damage; or a scan may show significant tissue damage, but the patient is symptom free ... A physiotherapist can assess your injury and other lifestyle factors that may be contributing to your symptoms and develop an appropriate treatment plan to reduce or eliminate pain and other symptoms, without the need of a scan However, sometimes assessment findings (either initially or throughout a rehab program) may prompt a physio to refer a patient on for a scan in order to get more information. Are there any red flags? Is the patient not progressing as expected? What type of scan is appropriate? Will scan results change the treatment plan? Is exposing the patient to radiation from the scan necessary? Take home message Evaluate the need for a scan on an individual basis and have your physio assess your injury first #bodyplusphysiotherapy #physiotherapy #physio #stonyfell #adelaide #scans #xray #ultrasound #CT #MRI #pain #imaging #assessment #health #injury #diagnosis

15.01.2022 No more clinic-based classes In light of current COVID-19 social distancing recommendations, this week we have transitioned all of our group physio classes to telehealth classes, run via video link However, whilst the weather remains glorious we will still be running one face-to-face class each week - outdoors on the oval opposite the BodyPlus clinic!... - Saturdays, 8:30am - BYO mat/towel and drink bottle - Low, moderate and high intensity exercise options will be provided throughout each class so everyone will be accommodated for We do require bookings for this class in advance to ensure we meet the 10 person restriction on group exercise classes currently in place - book online or give us a call! Transitioning to telehealth classes has been a reasonably seamless transition, and we thank all of our wonderful clients for helping us to iron out any potential problems As gyms are now closed, we encourage everyone to book into our telehealth classes - all you need is: - space in your home to set up - internet access - laptop or tablet ...its that simple! All classes will not require equipment, but if you do have gym equipment or household items on hand, progressions and modifications can be made to facilitate their use #bodyplusphysiotherapy #physiotherapy #physio #groupexercise #telehealth #telehealthclasses #stayhome #stayactive #isolation #covid19 #stonyfell #adelaide

10.01.2022 "Should I stop if I get pain?" Whilst recovering from and rehabbing an injury, you can come across some blurred lines as to whether to stop due to pain or to push on through the pain. Unfortunately, many people will stop any activity that creates pain. This isnt always the best course of treatment and can ultimately extend the rehab time.... As a general rule, you can ask yourself 5 questions to see if an activity is suitable. 1. Intensity - is the pain bearable? - up to 4/10 YES: Continue NO: Cease 2. Night Pain - are you struggling to get to sleep following exercise? - are you waking up at night due to pain after exercise? NO: Continue YES: Reduce next time 3. Activities of Daily Living - can you perform tasks after exercises such as washing, gardening, or ascending stairs? YES: Continue NO: The pain is likely more than just general muscle soreness from exercise - reduce volume or intensity next time 4. 24 Hours - does you pain come on or worsen 24 hours after performing the exercise? - does your pain take more than 24 hours to subside? YES: Youve done too much - reduce volume or intensity next time NO: Continue 5. Goals - are you improving at distance, repetitions or resistance whilst maintaining a similar pain score? (e.g. 3/10) YES: Continue NO: Re-evaluate activity If these questions dont bring you to a clear decision, book and appointment and get one of our physios to get you back on the right track! #bodyplusphysiotherapy #physiotherapy #physio #stonyfell #adelaide #pain #rehab #painmanagement #exercise
