25.01.2022 Those winter aches and pains! During the cold and rainy months of winter, it is not uncommon to feel increased joint pain. Some of this pain may be related to joint osteoarthritis. Wear and tear of our joints over time is quite normal, however some people will feel joint pain and many others will not, for many reasons. Some tips which may help ease symptoms: Keep active... Do not sit too long change your position often Keep the muscles strong around the joint Stretch any tight muscles Exercise at least 20 minutes a day Reduce stress and anxiety Apply a warm pack to the sore area (if not an acute injury) If your symptoms become too bothersome, or if you must take medication, then visit your physiotherapist. Physiotherapists are experts at assessing and treating joint pain, so will tailor a specific programme for you to reduce or eliminate your symptoms.

21.01.2022 Building renovations are currently in progress for the next few months, so onsite car parking spots will be reduced during this period. Overflow parking will be down North Street. Apologies for any inconvenience during this period.

21.01.2022 Updated advice just received from the Australian Physiotherapy Association is that there will be no face to face physiotherapy consultations. If you feel you need a consultation, tele/video health will be available. At this stage, face to face consultations will resume on Saturday 3rd July pending no further changes with the current lockdown. We look forward to resuming normal activities then.

18.01.2022 OUR STORY Body Potential Physiotherapy was founded in 2010 by its now principal, David Bryde. After playing on the European tennis circuit, David completed his physiotherapy degree at Curtin University in 1992 and his Master of Manipulative / Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in 2003. He has published research in a peer reviewed journal and has been a clinical supervisor of the University Postgraduate Masters students since 2005. He does presentations to GP registrars as part of... the Western Australian GP Education and Training Program and has also presented to sporting clubs and personal trainers courses through Sports Medicine Australia. He has worked in private practice since 1993, including contracting to a private hospital and nursing homes, and has spent 10 years at a multidisciplinary sports medicine centre. He has provided physiotherapy services to local, state and international sporting events. At David’s previous practice, he employed other physiotherapists and staff, however his love was in the clinical aspects of physiotherapy and not so much in the running of the administration aspects of a larger practice, so David became a sole practitioner at the practice. David’s special interest area is in the assessment and treatment of chronic / recurring pain and headaches / migraines. This is a challenging but rewarding area as a very thorough assessment and multi-faceted approach must be implemented, including social and lifestyle factors. Conditions treated include: Back / pelvic / neck pain acute and chronic, including pregnancy related Headaches / migraines children and adults Sporting injuries, including tendinopathies, plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow Dizziness Joint pain eg shoulder, knee, ankle acute and chronic Chronic pain Postural related conditions Arthritic pain Post surgical conditions Neurological conditions eg sciatic and brachial plexus pain, neuropathic pain, complex regional pain syndrome Elderly patient poor postural and musculoskeletal control and strength Falls prevention programmes Body Potential Physiotherapy provide a quality service to meet the patients needs. The focus of patient management encompasses a holistic approach as there are many factors that can impact on pain and disability. We encourage the patient to be an active participant in their treatment to help maintain long term results and to prevent recurrence of pain.
