11.01.2022 Trapezius & Levator Scapulae Stretch Video Tutorial Hi, hello and G’day So, these are the 2 big muscles that I encourage you, my patients, to stretch to help with headache reduction, tight musculature and the neck pain.... Stretching these two muscles in particular can have a monumental positive impact on your existence. These muscles are involved in just about every activity you do that involves your head, neck, upper arm and upper back. Whether it be; driving a car, using a laptop, working out, doing a sport, using a phone, cooking, cleaning, playing guitar, reading a book or even just watching the telly. You are using these muscles all day every day! As I have discussed with you, stress, whether it be mental, physical, emotional, spiritual or other kinds, can affect the trapezius muscle via one of its direct innervations. This is the Accessory Nerve, which is a Cranial Nerve coming directly from the brain. It relates to Fight or Flight response . That is why you might feel your Shoulders are up around your ears when you are dealing with stress Remember, stretching should not be painful. Maybe slightly uncomfortable but not painful. Starting at the lower back, the psoas major runs through the bowl of the pelvis, where it picks up the iliacus, just inside the ilium. Your hip flexors are a group of muscles near the top of your thighs that are key players in moving your lower body. They let you to walk, kick, bend, and swivel your hips.... Regular stretches may help keep your hip flexors loose and prevent injuries. The iliopsoas plays a role in posture, supporting the lower back, but its main job is to flex the hipit contracts to move the thighs toward the spinewhich it does more powerfully than any of the other hip flexors (which include the rectus femoris, sartorius, and tensor fasciae latae).
