24.01.2022 I was asked recently about this technique and so am sharing this post. In a nutshell it describes exhaling on every 3rd or 5th stride to avoid always exhaling as the same foot lands which the author claims will overload that side. Happy running.
24.01.2022 Good luck to everyone participating in the Fat Bike National Championships today and the Gibb Challenge- hope youve packed your foam rollers and massage balls! Make an appointment with Hannah today for any last minute niggles or advice.
24.01.2022 Agreed- lower back pain is rarely sinister and reassurance is powerful medicine. Physios are well trained to make a clinical assessment and offer treatment and advice tailored to that individual presentation.
23.01.2022 Bodyrite Physiotherapy Wembley will open doors in 2 weeks! Sue Bendotti available for appointments. Online appointments at www.bodyritephysio.com.au where you will now be able to select from Broome or Wembley locations. Happy days
20.01.2022 Thanks everyone for your support and well wishes for the Lake Argyle swim 2018. This is just before the start of the 20km. Thats our boat at the bottom of screen- hiding from the 6ft freshie wed just seen. What great opportunities and scenery we have for sporting events in the Kimberley!
19.01.2022 Great to see this evidence that 2 out 3 disc bulges/herniations will heal in a few months. This pushes the barrow for conservative treatment - #physio with appropriate and specific #exercises will aid the resolution of most cases of #discogenic LBP. Ph 0466 123 727 or visit www.bodyritephysio.com.au
18.01.2022 Thanks ABC for a clear and informative report on what we at Bodyrite Physio have been saying. Physios have stayed at the forefront of exercise for rehab and recovery and the latest pain science findings. Ph Kate or Hannah for an appointment 91925375.
17.01.2022 TRAVEL TIP FROM AN EMERGENCY NURSE I've worked in rather a lot of rural Emergency facilities over our travels, and I regularly see other travellers and grey no...mads presenting to my triage window, with anything from minor illnesses & injuries, to major life threatening events. But the one thing all these travellers have in common is they're presenting to a facility they've never been to before, that knows nothing at all about them. And the problem that I face as the triage nurse, is that often they don't seem to know very much about themselves either! There's nothing more frustrating then asking about past medical history, allergies & current medications and receiving answers like: 'Yeah I'm allergic to those tablets they gave me in hospital once. I stopped breathing. I can't quite remember what they're called' Or 'yes I take 5 tablets in the morning, and 4 before bed. I think maybe one is for blood pressure?' Or 'no I've got no medical history' only to discover a huge scar down the middle of their chest from the cardiac surgery they had a few years ago. Not only is it frustrating from the perspective of making my job a little bit more difficult, but it's also frustrating that people don't take more responsibility for their own health. If you're taking 9 pills a day, you should probably at least know what they're called, and why you're taking them. So I LOVE LOVE LOVE when someone comes in with something like you see in the picture. It's useful to help the patient remember in a stressful situation (your memory can do strange things when emergencies occur!), it's useful for a loved one to use if the patient is unable to answer questions themselves, and it helps the patient keep track & take some ownership of their own health. A little laminated card like this is a great idea, and can be carried in a wallet with your medicare card so it's always with you (& can be easilyfound in an Emergency if you're unconscious). If you don't know this information, your GP should be able to provide it to you. In fact it's a great idea to see your GP before you travel and get them to print out a document with this information on it that you can use to make up a card like this, or to show if you need to see a doctor elsewhere in the country. Now hopefully you'll get through your travels with no Emergencies occurring, but these things do happen, and on the odd chance they happen to you I promise your future triage nurse/doctor/paramedic will definitely thank you if you carry a little something like this! EDIT: as many people are pointing out, an emergency contact number would also be a great addition! Preferably of someone you're not travelling with in case you're both in a car accident together. www.thegreatescapeaustralia.com

04.01.2022 Great explanation of bursitis- rest allows it to settle but the thickening is protective of the surrounding tissue and load responsive, rather than a problem.
04.01.2022 Interesting to share what we now know about pain. Kate and Hannah are well placed to assist you in progressing through long term pain
03.01.2022 In a nutshell....
03.01.2022 At least 30 minutes of physical activity a day could reduce the risk of heart disease by 35 per cent and could also help manage depression and anxiety. Exercise could also reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes and some cancers, and lower the risk of dementia later in life.
03.01.2022 Back pain responds best to exercise and light, attentive movement.
