18.01.2022 From 2018 just before my spectacular "drop and roll".

18.01.2022 On RIDE TO WORK DAY (Wednesday 21 October) why not come and check out Canberra's first bikeway. Commuters, students, recreational riders, EVERYONE is invited to... join a guided ride along the Belconnen Bikeway from Coulter Drive to Haydon Drive. We will stop along the way to hear about the different aspects of the new multi-million dollar bikeway the special design features, obstacles that had to be overcome, and future plans to increase links to the bikeway. The tour will start close to Coulter Drive at 7.30AM. Riders are welcome to join or leave the tour at any time. The Coffee Van will be stationed at the start, so ensure you get there earlier enough to enjoy a brew. Everyone who participates will be expected to follow our Simple Steps for keeping riders safe during current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. 18.01.2022 TEMPORARY CHANGES TO SHARED PATH AROUND WEST BASIN Starting on Monday 26 October bike riders will be diverted around the construction site at West Basin using a... new 3 m wide concrete path and parts of the car park. Riders will be required to stop at a controlled crossing where there will be boom gates controlled by an operator. When the operator is not present the gates can be raised by a control button similar to those found on pedestrian crossings. Please note the new path configuration changes the entry/exit to the Parkes Way pedestrian bridge. By routing the path under the bridge the previously hazardous intersection will be eliminated. This section includes a new intersection, where the old path joins the new, which was necessitated by existing trees. The intersection is moderately restricted and will require bike riders to slow when approaching from both directions. Heavy trucks carrying infill will be approaching from the Western (Northbound) lane of Commonwealth Avenue. Bike riders using the ON-ROAD CYCLE LANE will need to exercise caution in order to give these vehicles sufficient space to slow and turn into as well as out of the site. Even though we have been assured sweeping will be conducted on a regular basis, riders on Commonwealth Ave should also be aware of loose material on the cycle lane. The site contractors, Chincivil, and the City Renewal Authority have been very proactive in engaging Pedal Power on the design and implementation of the new path diversion. Please approach the site cautiously, cooperate with the site workers and respect the new safety infrastructure.

17.01.2022 Why we should not be in a hurry to ease restrictions. None of us would want to find we had to be ventilated or to have our loved ones, friends or neighbours go through this.

12.01.2022 A fun tabata with an American influence to celebrate their election result, however I think it's a perfect day to turn off social media and get outside for a hike, cycle, run or walk.

12.01.2022 This mornings Zoom session was MSwing. We worked obliques, glutes and Hamstrings with assistance from our deltoids and our vestibular system (balance) .This program uses light DBs with big movements and lots of momentum.

11.01.2022 Thinking about how we could adapt this for Zoom workout.

06.01.2022 Collect your edible weeds for good nutrition. Just make sure they are not from an area sprayed with herbicide. I am regularly using wild brassica (only just learnt what it is!) and using it in salads, soups and stir fries. https://www.abc.net.au//edible-weeds-and-how-you-c/7406004

04.01.2022 Add a salad to this and you have a healthy meal. Char-grilled salmon kebabs and vegetables with lime mayo. Picture: Supplied Char-grilled salmon kebabs and vegetables with lime mayo. Picture: Supplied Char-grilled salmon kebabs and vegetables with lime mayo This is a great buffet dish served on a big platter for a barbecue or other casual gathering, but would also be an elegant entrée for eight people if you made 16 small kebabs instead of the eight larger ones.... Ingredients 750g thick pieces sashimi-grade salmon, skin off, pin-boned (see notes) 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil salt flakes and freshly ground black pepper, to taste 8 bamboo skewers, soaked in water for at least 1 hour 1/3 cup whole-egg mayonnaise 1 tbsp lime juice 3 zucchini, trimmed and sliced lengthways into 5mm-thick strips 3 Japanese eggplants, trimmed, sliced lengthways into 5mm-thick strips (see notes) 1 red capsicum, seeded and cut into thick slices 2 small red onions, cut into eighths 4 lime cheeks, to serve Method 1. Cut fish into large even cubes, place in a bowl and toss with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Thread the cubes onto the skewers, cover and refrigerate until ready to cook. 2. Combine mayonnaise and lime juice; you may not need all of the juice, it should taste lightly tangy. Set aside. 3. Heat a barbecue or char-grill plate. Brush the zucchini, eggplants, capsicum and onions with remaining oil, salt and pepper, and cook for two to four minutes each side, until well coloured. Remove and set aside. 4. Cook the skewers for 30-60 seconds on each side, until the flesh is opaque almost all the way to the centre. Don't cook them all the way through, as they'll continue to cook after they are removed from the heat. 5. Arrange the vegetables in the centre of each plate with the skewers on top. Drizzle with some of the lime mayonnaise, garnish with a lime cheek and pass the rest of the mayonnaise separately. Notes: Sashimi-grade fish is normally sold trimmed, if it is not, trim off any skin and dark muscle and check for bones before cutting it. Japanese eggplants are long thin purple eggplants, sometimes also called slipper, or baby, eggplants. Alternative species: Albacore, bonito, mackerel, striped marlin, swordfish, tuna. Serves 4.
