25.01.2022 Day 2 of Strength and Conditioning. Can't wait to see what today reveals.
25.01.2022 Taking time for yourself and relaxing is probably one of the most important things we can do to support both or physical and mental health and fitness. For me it's meditation, music and yoga nidra. What is your go to relaxation technique??
24.01.2022 What did everyone get upto this weekend? I enjoyed a nice Sunday morning run along the Brisbane River. I really do live in one of the best parts of the world.... #brisbaneriver #running #riverrun #runningfriends #motionislotion See more
23.01.2022 RECOVERY !!! One of the most important things with our workouts be it weights, running, riding or what ever you use is our recovery regime. As much as we like to push ourselves and get better, lift heavier or run faster the body needs to recover from the work it had just been put through. ... Good nutrition, hydration and relaxation are all key in a good recovery. The trick is figuring out what works for you and depending on your workout your recovery will More than likely be different. For me after a good long run my recovery is as follows: A nice slow walk to cool down. A chocolate milk when I get home to replenish the carbs I have used in the run. A roll out of muscles or a massage. A good healthy feed. Nice warm bath or sometimes I use a contrast between hot and cold for 15-20 min to stimulate blood cell recovery and I personally find it helps reduce DOMS. What do you do to recover from your workouts. This was brunch after this morning's run. 3 egg omelette with capsicum, mushroom onion, drizzle of bbq sauce and some parmesan cheese.
22.01.2022 I'm doing another run of the hoodies going in next Friday if you want to grab yourself one to keep warm this winter. They are very warm and toasty. $45 will be the best $45 You spend this winter... If your interested just send a message for payment details.
22.01.2022 On December 6 i will be running a 30km race down at Burleigh. Although i do it as i love to run I am now also doing it to help raise some much needed support and funds for Autism. My nephew and most recently my grandson are both diagnosed with Autism and this is one way i know i can help and raise awareness about the condition and the journey these two little champions will have in front of them. If anyone could spare even a few dollars it would be greatly appreciated. i wou...ld also like it if you could share around the link far and wide and give it as much exposure as possible. Thankyou https://gc50runfestival.gofundraise.com.au/p/Jason-35971440
22.01.2022 Who got upto what this weekend? With restrictions eased I had the pleasure of running with a few of my running friends again as well as a nice ride on the pushy. Don't forget as much as exercise is great for our physical fitness it's also just as great for our mental fitness. ... Exercise can be anything that gets you moving for me it's running and riding my bike, other things could be yoga, Pilates, walking, dancing or even pottering in the garden.

12.01.2022 Decided to venture out with some great friends this morning for a hike out at Mt mitchell and Mt cordeaux which is at the top of cunninghams gap. The hoodie's were well and truly put to the test today that's for sure. Where's your favourite hiking spot?
11.01.2022 The one choice we all have, myself included lately.
11.01.2022 With a long run coming up tomorrow I thought i might do a post on fuelling and hydration for long runs 10-15km+. As we all know fuel/nutrition is paramount for for being able to have a good run whether you be a seasoned professional or an average joe who just likes running. If your training for a race fuelling can start as early as a week or more before your race, but today im more gonna talk about fuelling for training runs and practicing your nutrition for a race.... Nutrition WILL NOT be the same for everyone as we are all different in our body compositions, our stomach tolerances and our food preferences (vegos, vegans, raw food and omnivores). The trick is finding what works for you and practicing it on yr long training runs BEFORE you get to race day. For me i like to have a carb rich diet the day before my long runs 15km+ so my body is fuelled up ready for the flogging the next day, now I'm not disregarding protein and fat just not as much as normal (for me), we still need both those things though. If I'm doing an early run say 6-7am i like to have a small carb rich low fibre snack about an hour before i run just to top up from the previous day and having around an 8 hr fast. Ill add a link in the comments from Sports Dieticians Australia which gives some good suggestions for pre race fuelling. As for hydration i will start again the day before and continually sip on water most of the day, that as well will vary on how far I'm running, what kind of weather it could be and the terrain as well. Ill throughout the day throw in a electrolyte drink just to boost up what i will lose in the run, again everyone is different in what they can tolerate so this is why we practice before raced day. PLEASE DON'T TRY SOMETHING YOU HAVEN'T DONE BEFORE ON RACE DAY. In the morning before the run i will have some more water before i head off as i usually carry fluid with me on the run. For run fluid i will usually take a couple litres of water and depending on the run some electrolyte replacement as i know my stomach can handle that and a gel or 2 again depending on the run length My favourite part of all is the recovery fuel after, for me once i have finished i go straight for a chocolate milk it has the required CHO requirements to put back in to yr body 30-45 mins after you run, then generally followed up with a group breaky at a local cafe. As i said this is only a guide and what works for me if you want to get your race nutrition on point go and see a registered dietitian or nutritionist so they can set you a plan that suits YOU. Hope this helps anyone reading and have a great day and if you are out running go smash a PB and above all have fun .
06.01.2022 I am living proof that this is 100% true. Without exercise in my life over the last couple of years things would be so massively different. I use my own personal experiences to help others get through the tough times, i know how it feels and how much effort it takes to get up off your backside and go for a walk/run/ ride or gym, but i also know the benefits of getting it done too.... Even 10mins makes a difference it truly does, once we start exercising the brain releases afar is referred to as the "feel good" hormone Dopamine and it floods your system to help stimulate the mind. If you are after help with any thing relating to this please reach out and let's have a chat. Mental health is a massive priority, especially in our current climate, please be safe and reach out if need.
06.01.2022 Quite often we will have the best of intentions on our health and fitness journey, then we will have * a blow out on food (this is me) * miss a session or two or three... * might be sick for a week and can't train *You might just not feel like it (this is me too) That's OK it's not the end of the world, these things happen to us all. How do we fix it you ask? You have your little self pity party, have a rage, have a cry, get that self doubt out of your system THEN get your ass back to work!!! Just because you have a stumble its not the end of the world you haven't failed, you have HAD a setback. THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN FAIL IS TO GIVE UP!
04.01.2022 The first batch of hoodies have arrived. I will arrange drop off ASAP. You can still order yourself one of these super warm hoodies to keep you toasty through winter. $45.
02.01.2022 It's no secret I am a big advocate of mental health. Jim Carrey hits the nail on the head with this one. Exercise, nutrition and sleep are so important in the battle against mental health. We all have our bad days, I most certainly do that's for sure, but exercise, eating right and getting enough sleep have been a big part in my own battle.... Don't be frightened to reach out and ask for help or take some time out for yourself. Please reach out if you need anything
