23.01.2022 Have you just realised that you've got no plans this long weekend? Because the Chalet is in desperate need of some muscle. We are wanting to remove our IXL woodfire stove to take it away to get it reconditioned, but it's more than a two person job. We don't need you for the whole weekend (but feel free to come for the whole time). But if you are local, or only available for a couple of hours then the priority is the Saturday or Sunday (depending on when we get the numbers). ...Even if you aren't available yourself, please share this with any potentially interested parties as this is a timely manner (we have the stove booked at the specialist on the 30th). So please contact us via bookings 0407 CHALET (0407 242 538) or [email protected] before 9pm Thursday 21st Jan so that we can organise catering (yes, it will be a catered event). Our bathroom working bee continues (we'll be sharing some updates soon!), but this is another project we need to get done this summer. Video credit to Brad Peters.

18.01.2022 It's even snowing in Mt Beauty

18.01.2022 Our AGM is starting now! Check your emails or the event for details.

16.01.2022 R.W. "Wilkie" Wilkinson was a great friend of W.F. "Bill" Waters, they skiied many miles together in the 1920's and 30's. Contrary to what you might think (if you know the surroundings of the chalet), Wilkie had no involvement in the construction of Wilkinson Lodge (which was later named after him), but was instrumental in the construction of Cope Hut, which was used as a base for the first Rovers to explore the Bogong High Plains. Wilkie's plaque is located on the highest knob of Rocky Knobs - you'll have to keep an eye out next time you're in the area! Thanks to the Scout Heritage Victoria Centre & Archives for keeping these artefacts safe for us and sharing their stories!

11.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who popped up to the chalet last weekend to successfully remove the kitchen stove for its refurbishment! We look forward to having all 750kg of it back and better than ever in time for this year's ski season (bookings open February 1st).

11.01.2022 We need your help! Each spring, Mountain Pygmy-possums wake up from hibernation, hungry for nutritious Bogong Moths to eat. Bogong Moths usually fly to meet ...Mountain Pygmy-possums in the billions, but this hasn’t happened in the past three years. Our scientists want to know where the moths are. If you see a Bogong Moth at your home this spring, take a photo and upload it to Zoos Victoria's Moth Tracker: https://bit.ly/3caC9s4 Thanks for your help, Federation University Australia!

04.01.2022 We’ve come to the end of our recipes for the season, and hope you’ve enjoyed reminiscing about some of your favourites, or favourite fails! While we were a bit cheeky with our first ‘apricot chicken’ recipe, we couldn’t leave our devotees hanging. So here is the recipe for the original chalet apricot chicken. Thanks for sticking with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back for the true chalet flavours soon! Apricot Chicken INGREDIENTS (Based on 4 People) 1kg Chicken Fil...lets cut into pieces 30g french onion soup mix 1450 ml Apricot Nectar METHOD 1. Cut chicken into pieces. Remove skin and roll in plain flour. 2. In a small bowl, mix onion soup gradually with the apricot nectar. 3. Pour the mixture over the chicken pieces. Cover with foil. 4. Bake in moderate oven for 1 hours or until done. Foil may be removed 25 - 50 minutes before serving so chicken can brown. 5. Serve with rice, sweetcorn, beans and carrots. NOTES: You may find the sauce may not be as thick as you would like. If so, blend a little cornflour with water, then add to the above until thickened.

03.01.2022 Last night the Fisher family held a Bogong Rover Chalet week 13 party night! They dressed in their snow gear, had a traditional, formal chalet meal - comprising tomato soup, lamb roast, sticky date pudding and green cordial. They then played hide and seek and Ric gave a dubious 3 min talk on "Why Carlton is such a sh*t team" for leaving empty boxes in the pantry. Sounds like a great party night!
