23.01.2022 WARNING - Social Media We would like to let you know there is a graphic video on Tik Tok that is very disturbing. Children have seen this, recorded it and forwa...rded it. It is now on other social media. We strongly recommend keeping your children offline today or monitor any online social interactions. We are receiving reports that trolls are using videos of puppies and kittens to lure kids into seeing the video. Please check in with your children today about this if it is possible they could see it. Thank you for your support. Warren Fyfe Assistant Principal

20.01.2022 Perfectly said!

20.01.2022 Core Value 3: Positivity When trying new things in a new environment, that little voice in our head usually tells us to run the other way. At our studio, we use positivity to change our students’ mindset and allow them to progress at their own pace in an engaging environment.

20.01.2022 Before we announce our plans moving forward, I wanted to post to our social media to send my love & gratitude to each and every one of our dance family. This has been a brutal year for us all, and what has been especially challenging is while all of us are on this journey, we are also managing in our own unique position. You dont know the magnitude of how you are helping young people through this time by allowing them to keep dancing. The support you give to your dancer ev...ery day is so incredibly important. Personally I am looking at this from the perspective that I couldnt face a Third Wave. So while its a dark time, Im choosing to celebrate our achievements to date and what we are going to do together while our state slowly gets back on its feet. We got this BOLD Dance family. Now go enjoy some sunshine and take a breath! An email will be sent out on Tuesday September 8th with further information.

19.01.2022 Want to get in touch? here’s how! Things to keep in mind... Phone calls that are unable to be answered will be returned during weekdays if a message is left. (Telemarketers are using mobile numbers to contact businesses now, so if no message is left, I will assume it is them)... Email & Social Media is monitored between 10am & 3pm weekdays. I don’t respond to studio correspondence via my personal social media or phone number, so to keep my work & life balance. *please note, once Baby B arrives I will try to keep replies as consistent as I can... but our little man & my mental health will be number one priority

18.01.2022 We need to open. For not only our amazing students, but so we can be there for all of our future students in 2021 and beyond. We can try our best to power through and try all avenues possible till we can go back to in-person classes, in the studio - and we are. ... But in regional Victoria, people can sit at a table at a pub or a cafe and enjoy a meal, full contact sport is now resuming and kids are able to return to school and travel on communal busses to get there. Yet we can’t return to the studio we’ve spent so much time making safe for all students. Help us return

16.01.2022 My first love. My business baby. My safe place in life for so many years. ... The studio has been physically closed twice in the last five months. A total of 18 weeks so far teaching online. We are delivering uplifting classes to our students still, six days a week and are looking forward to the day we can say hello to all of our students in person, again. We can do this! Lets dance these (hopefully) last few weeks of lockdown out in style!

14.01.2022 Question for Dan Andrews Premier, Dance Studio owners would like to know why they cannot open in line with schools, given that kids can have dance classes in s...chools. Response: That’s a matter for health advice but I am more than happy to follow it up. I am familiar with that issue. EXCELLENT! We look forward to hearing from you Premier. TODAY would be great, Thanks

13.01.2022 outdoor classes We’ve had a little interest in holding a few outdoor classes at the beginning of term four. I will be making some calls next week to see where & when suitable areas are available, checking with staff when they’re available (mainly around school exam commitments) and we will plan a modified timetable from there. ... Class days & times will be altered for this option of learning. All classes would be weather dependant - as fun as dancing in the rain sounds, it’s not safe Keep an eye on your emails for further updates dance fam.

11.01.2022 Core Value 1: Passion We strive to create passionate dancers who take pride in every aspect of their dance education. Bringing forward the next generation of empowered young people.

11.01.2022 Sticking to routine at BDA Its come to that time in the term where we revise whats been done so far There will only be week four uploads for our competition classes this week. ... And the following week will be a revision week in Zoom for teachers of our recreation classes, to see how all the students are doing so far and go over everything in detail. Remember danders, if youre not coming on zoom, its advised you send a video of yourself dancing the full routine so your teachers know how your tracking with the videos. We cant wait to (HOPEFULLY) be back in the studio on the final week of term. Lets cross everything we can that these next three weeks show good numbers & then the future weeks stay low so we can continue our end of year performance prep in person. #StaySafe #dancinginlockdown

11.01.2022 Weve noticed our reach on social media hasnt been as big as it usually is. So lets get us back on your newsfeed!

10.01.2022 Ive already put in my vote for Lakes Entrance/East Gippsland. Lets get our area buzzing again with dance!

10.01.2022 Hello everyone! I want to start this post by thanking all dancers, parents and of course my staff for their efforts throughout what has been a pretty tricky year so far. Throughout 2020, our purpose has remained on working together to create opportunities for our dancers to be their best. And to keep our studio values in mind. Although while in the remote and flexible learning period, this has looked a little different than before. As mentioned, our focus has been on the fo...llowing areas: - Provide suitable pre-recorded tutorials for all students. - Provide the same class schedules to give structure for students and families every day. - Maintain connections between all members of our dance family - Be prepared and adaptable in addressing the unique circumstances of our individual staff and students We know that we havent got everything perfect, but weve continually sought feedback from our students and re-assessed what we are doing to try and improve. Thank you to every one of our students who have asked lots of questions along the way! Throughout this term of remote and flexible learning we have tried to increase the amount of feedback that students receive to help them when learning their pre-recorded videos. Teachers have been holding Zoom classes and assessing student videos sent via email, weekly. We understand that learning from home can be very challenging, and we want to make sure we are doing our best to keep everyone informed about what is happening. Were looking forward to having all staff and students back in the studio as soon as possible so please try to do everything you can to keep yourself and others safe. Take care & happy dancing! - Bobbie

10.01.2022 Our new window display Can you spot a familiar face?

09.01.2022 One of our favourite people, saying everything we feel too when we dance

09.01.2022 Not coming to Zoom classes? So we can prepare our sessions accordingly, we will need to know if youre not joining us on Zoom week by week. You can do this by emailing [email protected] ... Remember dancers, if youre not on Zoom for any reason, we need you to film yourself doing the routine each week & send it through to us so we know youre doing okay & we can help you with any questions you may have from your pre-recorded lessons. All the information about this is available on our website, or you can get in touch with Bobbie via email. We know this isnt the funnest way to prepare for our performance, but its the only way we can do it at the moment, so lets work together to make it as fun as it can be! Pre-recorded classes allow students to watch the choreography as many times as they like to understand it. Then our zoom classes gives us the time to answer questions, see who needs a bit of extra help and of course see you! A big shout out to all the smiling faces weve seen in Zoom classes this week so far!

09.01.2022 Right now, its hard to plan for anything. So lets work on getting the results... whether that be knowledge in our routines to dance them without the video, nailing that pirouette youve been trying to get, or simply enjoy the days you see your dance friends on the zoom call All preparing for a stellar end of year dance performance. ... However that may be delivered See more

06.01.2022 Flashback to our last competition in 2019 Being on June & being back on stage for the East Gippsland Performing Arts Eisteddfod!

06.01.2022 Orbost, we need you After seven years of providing dance education to the Orbost & surrounds area, our numbers have sadly dropped to a point where - at this stage - a beginner dance class is not viable to run. I would hate to take away the chance to dance for the younger dancers in the area, so this is my help. ... Beginner dance is aimed at students aged prep - grade three. No previous dance skills required, a happy & supportive environment and provides an opportunity for those kids who aren’t interested in the ‘standard’ after school sports. We pride ourselves in creating a place for our dancers where they feel they can come to escape, let go of stress or worry and be a part of a team that has passion for all things creative. If you would like more information on this class, or our older class available for the area, please reach out via email, phone or social media. [email protected] 0456576109 @bolddance

05.01.2022 Open our dance schools Gippsland dancers and dance studio owners are furious about bans and inconsistent rules stopping regional children attending dance... classes. The Premier has stopped dance schools reopening until 23 November 2020 at the earliest and ONLY if there has been zero cases state wide for 14 days. While U18 outdoor contact sport is allowable, it’s illogical that ballet has been classified a high-risk activity. Studio’s are huge open plan spaces and well managed. Dancers are incredibly disciplined. Regional dance studios should be allowed to open for Term 4 with COVIDsafe plans in place. The glaring inconsistencies in Daniel Andrews roadmap must be addressed. It continues to discriminate against many industries, devoid of accurate science and sound medical advice. Instead of picking and choosing the fate of people’s livelihoods and acceptable activities, Daniel Andrews should be developing restrictions based on sound advice. The decision to ban dance schools will have disastrous consequences for the arts in Victoria and the many young children who will sadly miss out in term 4. 04.01.2022 To the dancers who got burnt out, To the dancers who fell in love with something else, To the dancers who stopped due to an injury, To the dancers whose circumstances forced them to retire, To the dancers who realised dancing wasn’t for them, ... And to the dancers who let dance go for their own reasons, I know you still walk to a beat no one can hear. I know you can’t stay still once your favourite songs play. I know you reminisce on the trainings, jams, classes and performances of the past. I know you still click that play button when a dance video shows up on your timeline or YouTube. So wherever you are in your life right now, whether it’s been weeks or years since you last took it seriously, I hope you remember that the dancer will always be in you. And it will always be there to welcome you back whenever the urge comes.

04.01.2022 We know we have passionate students in our studio. This was sent to us to share & spread awareness as to how our students feel at the moment. The gorgeous Olivia, who has been a student with BDA since the beginning, brought tears to my eyes with her words. ... And she says so much that resonates with so many of us at the moment We are hoping with school opening up next week, we will be soon to follow. Fingers are crossed we can see you all soon dance family

04.01.2022 And as our students return to school this week, I’m sharing this again. We miss you! We miss seeing how your headspace is lifted after your classes! And we miss having our studio run like it should, safely. #letusdance

03.01.2022 What a joy it has been to have Lizzie Jenkins in the studio today to instruct our competition team intensive classes Thank you so much beauty for making the trip from Melbourne to Lakes Entrance! Our students definitely got the challenge to get them in a mindset to push themselves in classes and are now ready to jump full on into finishing their first competition routines for the year ... An emotional day for me as my official last day in the studio watching these girls dance in person before bub comes so extreamely proud of them!

03.01.2022 Question time! How does dance benefit you & your children?Question time! How does dance benefit you & your children?

02.01.2022 Well done dancers! Thank you to everyone who completed our do you need a break survey so promptly! Out of the large amount of responses received, a whopping 70% of you requested a weeks break from Monday September 14th. ... Teachers of course will be available to take videos if you wish to send those through for feedback Those who are in competition teams, teachers have requested this past week that kids send through videos of them doing their full routines. We are still waiting on a few & could appreciate it if this could be done promptly so we can plan formation work We will be in touch once we know where dance studios fit in all the steps - as we are now being told an array of things & arent getting a specific answer from local or state government. Rest assured, we in the dance community are hounding everyone to get an answer before term four commences on October 5th. We all want to extend our congratulations to all of our students for adapting to online dance (again for some!) this term. Whether youve been on zoom every week, youve sent us videos every week, or you have done a mix of both - what you have achieved is incredible! All pre-recoded lessons will be kept active for our students to utilise over the school holidays & when we get back into the studio, we e will piece all the hard work together and complete what parts of the songs havent been done yet. Have a wonderful weekend everybody! We cant wait to see you soon!
