Share your thank you messages, pictures & videos by private message, or tag us @BoltonClarke #IND2020 This is Matron Shaw. She oversaw our Fernhill community in the 1980's and was awarded an OAM in 1994. She began her nursing career at 17, training in Victoria, going against her family's wishes that she take on secretarial work. She worked at Ferhill for over 18 years.

24.01.2022 Ron French - nicknamed Frenchy - last week enjoyed checking the Fernhill fence 'post' with fellow aged care community residents. The old-school messages were sent via fence suspended with string from neighbouring Caboolture State School primary students in a heart-warming community gesture during the COVID-19 pandemic. The residents were thrilled to see the special notes, and responded in kind with posters of love and thanks in their windows. 20.01.2022 Have you heard the 101.5FM - Moreton Bays Own Radio Station podcast featuring our Residential Aged Care Manager Ram? Ram spoke to Rosemary recently about Fernhill, our history and the community water tower project. Please vote for your favourite design - and as Ram says, we think both designs are lovely - but we'd love to see the ANZAC design honouring our veterans out the front of Fernhill. If you want to listen to the podcast - check out the link below!

19.01.2022 Bolton Clarke has a long history of care. From a single nurse walking the streets of Melbourne attending to the poor and sick in their homes, to 'Kingshome' - the very first Queensland War Veterans' Home in Taringa, we honour the work two of our organisations early leaders, Sir William Bolton and Lady Janet Clarke started. This #AgedCareEmployeeDay we celebrate their legacy and say #thanksforcaring to the team members that have supported our clients, residents, veterans, the homeless, pregnant mothers and our older population for over 200 years. #ACED2020 #wecaredifferently

19.01.2022 Just hatched! Watch some of Fernhill's first residents - a family of peregrine falcons, as they nest on the fourth floor of our new residential aged care community building!

19.01.2022 Recently, the Fernhill community gathered together to share with Rosemary from 101.5FM - Moreton Bays Own Radio Station the history of Fernhill including how we are honouring the legacy of key people who shaped Fernhill to be what it is today. We were joined by special guest Juliana Newman, grandaughter of JM and Gwendoline Newman who donated the original Fernhill property in 1947, then called Newman House. https://1015fm.com.au//rosemary-captures-the-history-of-f/

19.01.2022 Thank you Brightsiders for celebrating our veterans with art! This incredible artwork was commissioned by Unitywater and the final design voted in with a community campaign led by our Residential Manager Ram Korla, with support from the Caboolture RSL Sub-branch. The final design honours the legacy of our veteran residents, our organisation and our namesake, Lt Colonel William Kinsey Bolton. #lestweforget

18.01.2022 Did you know that the "Clarke" in Bolton Clarke comes from Lady Janet Clarke - a philanthropist and community leader who was a driving force behind the Melbourne District Nursing Service in 1885? She played a big part in our organisation's history and is one powerhouse of a woman to celebrate this #InternationalWomensDay.

18.01.2022 This week, our aged care residents at Fernhill moved into their brand new home. They've been watching this state-of-the-art building go up over the last two years - and this week, as some of the COVID restrictions have eased, we rolled out the red carpet to welcome them as they moved in, spent time with their families, and began planning trips to the beach! Thanks Tom and the 7NEWS Brisbane team for sharing the moment with us!

17.01.2022 Have a look at these stunning photos of the fresh look the water tower has! What a great job by artists Brightsiders and an excellent community initiative from Unitywater. We think it looks great!!

17.01.2022 Beryl will tell you that as her 29th February birthday has only rolled around 24 times, she's much younger than you may think. Of course, the 92-year-old still celebrates in non-leap years, but on the 1st March. Please join the Fernhill #agedcare community in wishing Beryl a very #happybirthday!

17.01.2022 Coming soon to Fernhill, our Lets Dig In program, in partnership with Therapeutic Horticulturist Cath, from @Soiltosupper

17.01.2022 Ahead of International Nurses Day we have been celebrating our team members and the great work they do. Today marks another special day - celebrating mothers everywhere. Today we share photos of our team members Deb and Chantal with their mothers Kathy and Patricia. #HappyMothersDay

17.01.2022 Today marks the 70th Anniversary of the opening of Fernhill. The building, formerly known as "Newman House" was generously donated by Malcolm Newman when the first War Veteran's Home, named Kingsholme became full and unable to accept anymore returned soldiers. Fernhill officially opened on 4th May 1950 and has evolved over the years into the community that stands today. This anniversary is particularly significant as it falls in the middle of redevelopment works to bring to life the future of Fernhill - while honouring its history and legacy.

17.01.2022 From our community to yours, we're wishing all of our residents, clients, families and team members a Happy Easter.

17.01.2022 The community votes are in, and the water tower out front of Fernhill community on King St, Caboolture once used for Secret Intelligence Operatives to practice parachute jumping is to be painted in honour of our ANZACS. Unity Water have already begun erecting the scaffolding to support the cleaning and artwork creation. What a sight this will be to behold once it is completed! #ANZACspirit

17.01.2022 Fernhill community dearly missed our beautiful mango tree that had to be removed when works started on our new residential aged care building. So when our residents had the opportunity to plant a replacement dwarf mango tree in the new gardens with some students from St Columban's College, we were all tree-mendously excited! Read more about the National Tree Day planting with the link in the comments!

15.01.2022 The keys to the kingdom have changed hands! Fernhill Residential Manager accepted the keys to Fernhill from Hansen Yuncken Senior Project Engineer Terry Welch last week, marking a significant milestone and the one-month countdown to official opening in October! Read more on our website!

13.01.2022 Grandfather and Fernhill retirement village resident Peter Abersold has been using Bolton Clarke's "Hello Nan & Pop" activity pack while video chatting with his grandkids. Sonja and Ivan have enjoyed the finger puppets and colouring in - and everyone's enjoyed the fun! Want to get in on the fun? Download the pack on our website!

12.01.2022 Our residents have always enjoyed their visits from students at Australian Christian College - Moreton. Because they cannot visit at the moment, the students wrote cards in their last week of Term 1, and they were delivered to residents at Easter. The first three photographs were taken during a visit earlier this year, and the later photos show the students proud creations. Our residents were so pleased to receive them!

09.01.2022 It was a very different ANZAC Day this year, but no less significant. We share a few photos of our retirement village taking part in their own doorway and driveway services, and enjoying the bagpipes.

08.01.2022 Residents have made their mark on #FutureFernhill, joining Bolton Clarke board members, team and builders Hansen Yuncken at a Topping Out Ceremony, marking laying of the final slab on the new residential aged care community, stage one of the 10-year redevelopment project. Residents signed a commemorative slab to mark the milestone, alongside Bolton Clarke Chairman Pat McIntosh, and took a sneak preview of the view from the roof. The signed slab will be unveiled with a plaque ...at the grand opening of the new community building later this year. Mr McIntosh said the event marked a significant milestone in Bolton Clarke's history at one of the organisation's most historic sites. The first war veterans moved into Fernhill on 4 May 1950. Over those 70 years, Fernhill has grown to meet the needs of the Caboolture community.

07.01.2022 Did you hear the last podcast Residential Manager Ram did with radio 101.5FM - Moreton Bays Own Radio Station last month? Stay tuned for a very special podcast about our history - coming soon! https://1015fm.com.au//ram-korla-fernhill-community-on-10/

07.01.2022 Can you help us find information about our history? We are seeking photos, audio recordings and memorabilia from a historical event in Fernhill's history. In June 1947, four veterans; John Patrick, Dan Hogan, Charles Moore and Arthur Robert Bob Billaney took to the skies of Brisbane for 50 minutes, broadcasting to 4BC from a plane. They were accompanied by then RSL State President Bob Huish, 8 delegates from the RSL Congress in Brisbane and Mr Tom McGregor from 4BC. Their ...aim was to raise 30,000 for Fernhill. At the time 'Newman House' had just been donated by the Newman family to become the latest War Veterans Home, as Kingsholme at Taringa, where the four men were living, had become crowded. If anyone has any information, recordings or photos from this flight, we encourage you to be in touch with us by private message. Please share this post so we might reach the families and others who would have this information. 06.01.2022 When Fernhill opened on 4th May 1950, the first veterans arrived by bus journeying from the first RSL War Veterans Home, "Kingsholme," which had become overcrowded. This footage shows the men leaving Kingsholme, arriving at Fernhill and settling into life on the newly donated property formerly known as "Newman House." #70thAnniversary

04.01.2022 We're moving in! The Moreton Daily joined us to celebrate our new home, our history and sit down for a chat with residents and Juliana Newman, whose grandparents JM and Gwendoline donated the original property and 'Newman House' which became Fernhill in 1950.

03.01.2022 We have an exciting update on the King Street Water Tower community artwork project. As you may be aware, the Fernhill community originally requested the artwork and asked that the design honour the history of Fernhill as the original War Veterans Home and our strong connection to the RSL and Veteran community. Two design concepts have been created & voting has commenced. The first concept, aptly named ANZAC, is pictured below. If you would like to vote, please do so on the Unity Water website: https://www.unitywater.com//community-/king-st-water-tower
