25.01.2022 This was the last time we’ll hear this for the 2020 Covid season. U16LT enthusiastically singing their team song after winning their game against Merimbula Pambula Bulldogs.
21.01.2022 An early start saw the Bombala Under 11’s head to Tathra on Saturday morning. The first quarter was very tough with the opposition getting points on the board very quickly. By the second quarter, the Bombala team rallied and continuously improved as the game progressed. Mia Stone and Keira Chamberlain had a great second half taking tags from marker. Dakota Simpson was a great leader and organised the team from the first receiver position. Grace Murphy and Piper Sullivan weren’t afraid of their opposition, making quick runs up the middle. April Kimber was awarded the player of the match for her excellent defence which is consistent every week. Well done Little Heelers!
21.01.2022 Game Day Photos U7's Thank you to the Mums who provided these great shots of our young under 7's in action on Saturday. I love the facial expressions these little champions get!
20.01.2022 Don’t forget our meeting 6pm at Club Bombala Board Room. We are looking for a President and a Canteen Manager for our 2021 season.
20.01.2022 The 16 League tag double header. Our girls travelled up the coast knowing that they had 2 games to play as usual they showed plenty of commitment with 17 players turning up for the 2 games. First game was Moruya for a 12:30 kick off. With the girls starting strong but missing their first couple of try scoring opportunities it didn’t take long for them to turn it around with some nice hands and some excellent line runs the girls started to turn on the points.... They kept the pressure on Moruya scoring 52 unanswered points. With the try’s being shared out throughout the team our players player was shared between Annie and Tanner. GAME 2 Back to Narooma for a 3:30pm kick off our Bombala girls again starting strong. Putting plenty of pressure on the home side and forcing a few mistakes which led to a try to Annie under the post and converted by Zara. Then it wasn’t long until Zara took it upon herself to score a 60 meter run away try which was converted by herself. It was a game of two halves Bombala girls couldn’t score any more points and Narooma coming hard at our girls with Narooma sneaking through for a couple of try’s the score was suddenly 12-10 to Bombala. With our girls having to dig deep in defence for the rest of the game it was a great defensive effort by all our girls. Our players player went to our leader in defence Paige tag em Hurley. A big congratulations to our girls for a wonderful day of football. Regards Matt and Waz See more
18.01.2022 We are holding a meeting on Wednesday 11th November 6pm at Club Bombala. All positions were not filled at our AGM and we are looking for interested parents to fill the following roles; ** President ** ** Canteen Manager **... Without a Committee, Junior Rugby League in Bombala will struggle to continue. We have a very supportive, constructive committee and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday night.
15.01.2022 Saturday saw the end of our 2020 season, and what a season it was. COVID-19 set us some challenges but these were met head on by our committee, capably led by Mick and Rocky and everyone should be very proud of the results. Watching the kids take the field every game with smiles on their faces was a testament to the success of the season.... Additional thanks goes to the coaches for taking the time to guide our children and help them grow and develop their skills throughout the season. To our referees for making sure that the games ran on time and the players understood the rules, encouraging them throughout. To Waz Martin for being our first aid officer and strapper. To the volunteers who marked and set up the ground for each home game and pulled it apart at the end of the day, and to those who helped man the official table. Last but not least, a big thank you to Warren and Wendy and their team of volunteers for running the canteen to a high standard for all to enjoy.
15.01.2022 AGM - Wednesday (28/10/20) night 6.30pm at Club Bombala. WE NEED YOU IF YOU WANT Junior Footy in Bombala in 2021.

14.01.2022 Our final game for the season was at home against Merimbula Pambula. With weather conditions not so pleasant our girls had to concentrate on the game so mistakes were minimal. Our Bombala girls started well putting pressure on the opposition which forced them to make mistakes. Our girls started to capitalise on some good possession which lead to some try’s to Paige and Maddie. Our defence holding strong M/P not looking like breaking though our line. Our girl...s started to rack up a few more try’s with Paige, Tanner, Brandy and Heidi crossing the line. With the end score 30 to 0. A special mention to Matilda and Kay - Lee for playing for M/P and being two of their best players. I would like to thank the girls for a very successful season with a large playing group with 13’s and 16’s combining wasn’t a problem, training and playing well together and playing at their best every week. This made the coaches very proud , regards Matt and Waz.
14.01.2022 Game Day Photos U7's What a pleasure it is to watch the U7's play each week. They play the game with such joy and spirit, regardless of what team they are on, or the colour of the shirt. What a great day you had again on Saturday against Tathra boys, well done!
13.01.2022 The Little Heelers headed down the mountain to play Bega on Saturday. The Bega side were very tough and too quick to tag at times. However the Bombala side put in a great effort pulling off some amazing tags! Lorelli Kidman took the tag of the game, whipping the tag off at the last second to save a try. Chloe Milliner was excellent in attack running on to the ball and slicing through the line. Asher Caldwell was very fast and hard to tag, while Joey Sullivan and Henry Power steered the team confidently. Miller Stewart was the player of the match for her solid tagging all game. The team is improving every week and we look forward to taking on Tathra next weekend.
12.01.2022 The last one for season!! It was a cold morning for the last game of the most unusual season ever. The lil pups took to field full of enthusiasm, it may have been their way of conquering the cold but they got off to a flying start. Long runs from Breanna, Stephie, Georgie & Emma G laid the platform and resulted in tries for Summer, Brynn and a sneaky dummy half try from Charli. Emma G and Harper showed their pace scoring long range tries. Not to be outdone by... her little sister, Stephie also scored from dummy half. Amelia, Meagan and Lily continue to grow in confidence making valuable contributions making some great tags and running nice and straight with the ball. Paige and Essie, while a little reluctant to start with, rose to the occasion and made ground with every run. Jack had some nice runs and made some great tags. A number of our players helped out the opposing team a big thanks to all did this I think some just wanted to wear two jumpers to stay warm! A huge thanks to Zara for assisting this year, to Waz Martin for being our dedicated first aid officer. Also a big thanks to all parents for bringing their kids to training and games. Last but definitely not least to all the players of the lil pups the improvement and enthusiasm you guys bring every week is amazing. Thanks for a great season and can’t wait for a hopefully less disrupted 2021! See more
12.01.2022 3 DAYS TO GO until our AGM. Wednesday 28th October, 6.30pm at Club Bombala. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to have a successful 2021 season.
08.01.2022 Local lads in U18's For those of us who had the late game on Saturday it was a pleasure to finally see our local lads, Connor and Reagan in action with their Bega U18's side.
07.01.2022 7 On a chilly and windy spring day, the U7s played their final games for 2020 against Merimbula. As has been the norm throughout the season, all boys were in attendance and played to the best of their ability whilst having fun along the way It has been a pleasure to coach again this year and see the improvement in skill amongst the team. Harry always ran the ball with a smile on his face. Dwight and Darby enjoyed being part of a team and running alongside their ...mates. Ned wasn't afraid to be apart of the action and was always eager to take the field. Ian always showed enthusiasm and tried his best. Oscar tried hard each week and showed constant improvement across all areas. Cooper B took what he learnt last year and 'run away with it,' literally. His little legs produce a lot of speed. Banjo's confidence has grown over his 3 years in the team and this showed in both attack and defence. Cooper I is very reliable, tackling and running the ball with determination each and every time. Zac has learnt the art of palming, often pushing away his opponents to open up space and make the try line. Hudson is very good in cover defence, using his pace to chase down the opponent and produce a try saving tackle. Lakyn could often be seen running the length of the field, ducking and weaving past the opposition, to score multiple tries each game. Gus, our team manager, handled the sideline well and was an asset at training, thanks mate. Thank you to all the parents who bring their kids each week and encourage from the sideline, it does not go unnoticed. A special mention must go to Rocky and Mick for ensuring this season went ahead for our kids, we appreciate everything you have done. I look forward to following the players in 2021. 05.01.2022 Bombala 16LT verses Bega with a late 4:30pm kick off with again all girls committed and a full squad our girls took to the field. Bombala kicked off to start the game. Our girls looking good in patches but making plenty of mistakes forcing themselves to do plenty of defence which to their credit they stayed solid. It took a while for Bombala to find the try line it was through some good attack from a couple of our juniors Ella, Tanner and Heidi helping them ...out, come up with a move that the Melbourne Storm would be proud of which led to a try which was finished off with a beautiful inside ball from Brylie to Annie with Annie under the post and Zara converting. Bombala still making mistakes our girls still having to dig deep we went into half time 6-0 up. The second half was much the same too many mistakes letting Bega into the game. Bombala coming up with some good plays, some good kicking from Zara, kick chasing led by Jess and Lily, some good runs down the side line from Brandy and Rachael and some trade mark show and goes from Bridie. This led to Bombala getting on top of Bega which led to another try to Annie under the post. Bombala coming away with a 12-4 score line and our players player went to Annie. Regards Matt and Waz
05.01.2022 Bombala verses Tathra. The girls took on Tathra in what would have been a grand final clash in a normal season. With a 10:00am kick off the girls were focused and looking good putting plenty of pressure on Tathra with their ball handling skills, with Tathra’s strong defence and Tathra also looking sharp on the day it was going to be a close game. Half time came and it was still nil all. Tathra having the wind behind them had the advantage with a good kicking... game Tathra put our girls on the back foot with our girls getting caught 3 times behind the try line with a small mistake by our girls Tathra took the lead 4-0. With our girls not panicking and trusting their ball skills they stayed in the game. Then the break come with a trade mark inside line from Paige found her through a gap and scoring a try beside the post with the Bombala attempt of converting the try hit the upright and the game finished 4-4. I’d like to congratulate the girls on their best game of the season, their defensive effort excellent and their ball handling was a showcase of the game. The coaches pick went to Paige Hurley, well done girls. Regards Matt and Waz See more
05.01.2022 This week the ‘Little Heelers’ U’11’s travelled down the mountain to Moruya. The weather was very warm and made for tough conditions for the mountain kids! The mix of ages on both teams gave the younger kids the opportunity to shine. Grace Murphy made great yards for her team with Miller Stewart and Keira Chamberlain tagging well. The player of the match was Jenaya Tonks for working hard in both attack and defence. The Bombala side scored many tries and put in a great effort in the warm conditions. They also took great delight in giving their coach a ‘cool down’ with their drink bottles afterwards! Great job team!
04.01.2022 If there are any 15/16 yr old girls who would like to play in the girls 9’s tackle comp - Bega Roosters are looking for some more players for their U16’s team. Please make contact directly with Bega club.
04.01.2022 With the season not running to schedule a decision was made to replace the usual awards and trophies with a shirt that the kids could use and that would be a reminder of 2020 - the year that was! A big shout out to Southern Monaro Cattledogs for their assistance with the funding of the shirts.... We Survived 2020 Drought, Bushfire, COVID 19 Bombala JRLFC STRONGER TOGETHER
01.01.2022 The Under 11’s ‘Little Heelers’ played their final game on Saturday in freezing conditions. The game was try for try with Merimbula narrowly coming out on top in the last few minutes. Despite the score, the game showcased the big improvement they have made since their first game. Their passing across the field was great and their defence excellent. This year’s team was made up of many ages yet they managed to work together as a team, encouraging and support...ing each other. Dakota, our leader was always encouraging her teammates and leading by example in skill and sportsmanship. Joey and Henry transitioned over from tackle seamlessly; their fantastic ball skills making a huge difference to the team. Keira, Miller and Lorelli showed the younger players the way with their skill and experience, lifting the team at every opportunity. Mia and Jenaya were the quiet achievers always giving 100% and showing great team work. Rachel and Ava were quick to learn and improved each week with a smile on their face. April was a tagging machine & Chloe super fast in attack, both stepping up from the Under 9’s. Pocket rockets; Asher, Grace and Piper also played up from the Under 9’s and displayed excellent tagging skills each week. Well done Under 11’s, thanks for a great season! See more
01.01.2022 Lil Pups report 13 lil pups traveled down to Bega on Saturday to take on the Bega Chicks. After a slow start the lil pups got into their grove and started to play like they are capable of. The chicks were a much older team and their experience was on show. However the lil pups stuck to their guns and scored some great tries and made plenty of awesome tags. After a great run from Stephie, Brynn managed to score the very next play. Breanna continued her try s...coring and crossed the line again. Maegan scored her first try of the season, congrats!! The lil pups had plenty of contributors in defence Amelia, Harper, Summer and Georgie all made multiple tags. Emma A and Charlie shared the dummy half role and were always in the game with some clever runs and important tags. Essie, Jack and Paige also continue to grow in confidence taking runs and getting involved in defence. A big thanks to all parents for travelling to Bega. See you all next week. P.S. Thank you to the Mums who provided these wonderful photos this week!
