24.01.2022 This Friday is National Walk to School Safely Day. This community event seeks to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment. Australian children are becoming less active and one substantial contributor to this is the decline in walking. Walk safely to school day is held annually to promote the health benefits of walking and to create regular walking habits; to help children develop vital road crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedest...rians. We encourage parents, guardians and friends to get involved in walking their children to school this week. Students will be greeted at the gate with stickers and fruit to celebrate walking safely to school. We gratefully thank and acknowledge the support of our P&C who have donated fruit to support this wonderful initiative. Even if you drive your children to school, perhaps you could park a little further from the school and take a short walk where you can practice crossing the road safely. See more

17.01.2022 This week our behaviour focus is ‘looking after my own belongings’. We will be completing activities at school to help us remember to look after our own hats, jumpers, lunchboxes, toys etc. We will also be discussing why it is important to look after our own things. Ways you can help: Sit with your child and label all belongings... Encourage our school’s ‘one toy rule' See more

16.01.2022 Our students were encouraged to walk and commute safely to school today for National Walk to School Day. It is a community event seeking to promote Road Safety and for our students to understand the health benefits of walking and to create regular walking habits. A massive thank you to the P&C for their kind donation of the delicious fresh fruit that all students received.

15.01.2022 Our Kindergarten Transition children had another wonderful visit this week. They are all settling in happily to their new school. 06.01.2022 SCIENCE WEEK @ BPS

03.01.2022 BOOK WEEK PARADE Wednesday 21st October. Term 4 Week 2. Starting time: 11:40am. Theme: " Curious Creatures. Wild Minds".... Watch via ZOOM. Book Week has been delayed this year due to Covid 19 restrictions. Our book week parade will take on a new, but now not unfamiliar, form. The ZOOM cameras will roll and hopefully you, as parents and visitors, will be able to watch your child/children parade in their costumes for Book Week. This is an opportunity for the children in our school to have fun and dress up. The children can use the upcoming school holidays to plan and prepare their costume and so be prepared when Week 2 comes around. We look forward to celebrating Book Week together. BOOK FAIR We will be holding a Covid friendly Book Fair from the 19th to the 30th October - Term 4 Weeks 2 and 3. The existing Covid rules will apply to parents and visitors attending school functions and this will mean that only the children will be able to actually view and handle the book for sale. There will be an inschool colouring competition for the children where one child from each class will be chosen to receive a book voucher to be spent at the Fair. The children will, as in previous Books Fairs, write a wish list. These books can be purchased online - the details of which will be available to you closer to the event. We will endeavour to photograph a variety of books, with their prices attached, and distribute these photographs via our Facebook page and/or the newsletter or perhaps a ZOOM virtual Book Fair to show you at least some of the books on offer. This will be new for us all and I thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we work our way through any obstacles.

03.01.2022 Dear Parents and School Community, We have been advised by the esafety Commissioner that there is a distressing video circulating on several social media platforms, such as TikTok, that involves suicide. Although, the age to create these accounts is 13, we are aware that many of our students have access to these platforms. We ask that parents be extra vigilant about what their children are viewing over the next few days. We ask that parents exercise discretion about this ...incident to students as we don’t want to draw undue attention to this issue or cause worry/distress or increase exposure. Please note that the Department of Education is encouraging people who encounter this content to report it to the social media platform they have seen it on, or to the eSafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content Thank you for your support. 03.01.2022 Bombala Public School has been privileged to host two practicum students from the University of Wollongong. Kaitlin Harris has been working with Miss Buchanan in the Year 1/2 class while Larni Cowgilly has been with Mrs Moreing in the Year 2/3 class. Kaitlin and Larni will be with these classes until the end of Week 9 this term. This will be their last prac. teaching period before they both complete their teaching degrees. Good luck to you both for your future teaching careers. Maybe we will see you back in Bombala in the future as fully qualified teachers.
