24.01.2022 Important Notice Bonbeach Open Water Swim After much consultation with Life Saving Victoria and government authorities, the board of Bonbeach Life Saving club has made the difficult decision to postpone the Bonbeach Open Water Swim for 2020. In light of recent events, with the escalation of the COVID19 virus, the board felt that as a precautionary measure this was the best of option for members, swimmers and the community in general.... Our club is about to undergo a rebuild, so our plan is to coincide this swim to celebrate the opening of our new club rooms. We would like to thank everyone for their understanding and hope to see you all at the next Bonbeach Open Swim when the club reopens. Lloyd Thomas President Bonbeach Life Saving Club

23.01.2022 IMPORTANT UPDATE; BONBEACH OPEN WATER SWIM Hi everyone, The club is currently seeking advice to see if we are still able to hold the swim next weekend as planned. Even on our busiest swims, the attendance numbers have always been well under the current governments size limits, we dont want to disappoint our swimmers and members however we dont want to put them at unnessecary risk either. ... We will get back to everyone as soon as possible as to whether the swim will or will not go ahead and if so in what format. Regards Lloyd Thomas President Bonbeach Life Saving Club

We owe a massive thank you to the amazing team at City of Kingston, and our local member Sonya Kilkenny MP for all the work they have put in to make this exciting development of the club become a reality. 15.01.2022 Mixed emotions...

15.01.2022 2020 has been a challenging year for everyone and circumstances have made it even more important for us all to stay connected and, for those who are able, be willing to support those around us. You dont have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says theyre not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before theyre in crisis, which can make a really positive difference

04.01.2022 VOLUNTEER PROFILE: ZAABI JALALI In eNews, Media Tags #enews, #watersafety, CALD, Multicultural October 19, 2020 19 Views... lsvmedia For this month’s volunteer profile, we catch up with Bonbeach LSC youth patroller Zaabi Jalali, who is now into his fourth season at the club and is also one of LSV’s casual multicultural team members. Current Club: Bonbeach Life Saving Club. How long have you been involved in lifesaving? It’s been nearly four years that I’ve been involved in lifesaving. Why did you become involved in lifesaving? The four-year journey with LSV has involved different volunteering activities and multiple programs that were running through the Multicultural department. these have helped me learn more about water safety and enable me to teach others. I have gained experience that I now realise is important to give back to the community. What are some of your responsibilities at your club? I’ve done many qualifications, including Surf Rescue Certificate, Bronze medallion, IRB Crew, Spinal Management and First Aid. The responsibilities I carry out are to maintain the safety of people at the beach and follow-up the club protocol to report any hazards. What do you enjoy most about lifesaving? I enjoy working in a positive team to achieve a set outcome. How do you encourage others to get involved with lifesaving and volunteering? By sharing my experience and guiding others about the importance of working as a lifesaver. What is your greatest achievement in lifesaving so far? Working with LSV’s Multicultural department as a water safety instructor. When you’re not lifesaving, what keeps you busy? I usually keep myself busy with my school studies and working with a non-profit organisation called Nasle Baba, where I am the volunteer media and training officer. Current LSV volunteer roles: Patroller and IRB Crew.

04.01.2022 This is the perfect way to say goodbye to the old clubhouse, she has stood tall and proud since 1936. In the next couple of weeks she will make way for a new version of Bonbeach Life Saving Club as we rebuild for the future. We say thank you to this building for nurturing past generations of lifesavers and for providing a community hub for members. - Deb Jordan Huge thanks Paul Saunders
