25.01.2022 Every second day I jump straight from the opening sequence to the second half of primary series! It’s such a different experience practicing these postures without having warmed up or opened up with the first half! Building up to a posture and ensuring we have developed the strength and mobility to do it safely is essential! There is also value and benefit to be gained from preparatory exercises and stretches, but as long as it’s safe to do so, there’s also a time and a place for experiencing not being 100% ready, for it to feel more challenging than usual, to feel the posture itself working its magic, in just doing it!x

25.01.2022 Friends it’s the last Tuesday pick/up delivery for 2020! The following week orders will be for Thursday 24th pick up only! Orders for that will open tomorrow evening. We will be back again for Tuesday 12th Jan!

25.01.2022 Did you know you can purchase a gift pack for a friend? It’s been so heartwarming to see so many of you sharing the gift of nourishing, sustainably sourced local food with friends! (Order through website) Potentially better than gifting chocolate..... and I LOVE chocolate Orders closing tonight 6pm incase you want some for yourself too

23.01.2022 Last weekend was spent with great friends, climbing, walking, laughing then sitting around a campfire in colder than expected weather eating as fancy as it gets packet Japanese curry! All I’ve been craving since then is Japanese curry with pickles and I thought it would be rude not to share it with you all.x

23.01.2022 When your friend gets a new cookbook for her birthday and you get a little bit of inspiration!

22.01.2022 Flipped from Asian to this in about 5mins! Once I had beetroot falafels on my mind it just kept flowing! X

22.01.2022 On Monday’s we make tofu! All tucked into bed ready for tomorrow.x #handmade

21.01.2022 Most things in life get easier the more you do them right? ....... except Navasana! Boat pose should actually be called death pose as I am constantly telling myself I am not going to die! Eyes darting everywhere trying to distract myself from the discomfort (only just realised this) and a little smile to help relax my face! 2 minutes (let’s be honest it’s more like 1.5 when I’m counting) feels like 10! Then it’s all over and you forget how hard it was until the next time! I guess there are inevitable experiences in life that no matter how many times we go through them they are just plain uncomfortable and all you can do is grin and bear and hope they only last 2 minutes! #navasana

20.01.2022 Rocking the @loop.growers radishes

20.01.2022 Nothing more grounding and calming than primary series, no extra drills, not too many extra breaths, just continuous breathing and concentration! #saturday

20.01.2022 A collection of beautiful photos by Imogen Jade (@sister_willow) highlighting what’s in season, recipe ideas, no waste tips, grow tips and fun facts for every month of 2021! With input from our friends @wanderingcooks @allmyfriends.grocer @thescratchbar @alphabetcafe and @loop.growers, @negomi and I are so grateful and proud to be able to share this with you all and hope to inspire you on a journey of cooking and growing with local seasonal produce! You can order your calendar through our website and they will also be available from @allmyfriends.grocer this coming Sunday! Love Imogen & Elaine

20.01.2022 If someone tries to serve you broccoli in the middle of a Queensland summer you need to have a serious conversation with them about where their produce is coming from! We are making the most of this delicious and nutritious brassica from @blackcroworganics (@foodconnectbrisbane )while it’s still growing locally and the intense summer heat hasn’t quite set in! This week we are blitzing it up and roasting briefly with lots of fresh parsley, lemon and green apple for a grain-free tabbouleh! Orders closing this evening if you haven’t got yours in already.x

19.01.2022 My friend @negomi has been busy harvesting and drying a huge crop of tulsi from @loop.growers farm over the last few weeks! It’s great as a tea but this week we blitzed it up with some sumac, salt & sesame seeds for a holy za’atar! In your broccoli salad if you ordered this week!x @bushbaskets

19.01.2022 Something a little different for next week!x

19.01.2022 Tuesday to Thursday we practice like this...... learning 1-1 but in a group (Mysore style). We moved Led Class to Monday 6.30 - 7.45am, where we practice all together and reinforce what you learned by yourself! Maybe see you tomorrow anytime between 6.30-7am @wanderingcooks #ashtangayoga #halfprimary #halfprimaryledclass #mysorestyle #ashtangayogabrisbane #yogaeverydamnday

18.01.2022 @foodconnectbrisbane rhubarb..... simply roasted for 15mins w a generous sprinkle of sumac! No sugar just pure delightful batons of tang once they come out of the oven!

18.01.2022 This was so fun to create! I made a Curried chutney w some leftover lime skins I had preserved months ago then blended it into a sauce with fresh tomatoes! Pan-fried tofu w starch so it captured all that sauce, added loads of greens, curry leaves, puy lentils then topped w kombucha pickled turnips! Inspired by @noorishbynoor black lime tofu

18.01.2022 This time a whole year ago we were serving you up dosa from the window of @wanderingcooks ...... this week we are recreating the fermented pancake in potato cake form, ready for pick up Tuesday if you get your orders in this evening.x

16.01.2022 It’s a first in the history of Bond Street! If you would like a selection of show stopping dishes that are filled with love and care made by ingredients that are sourced locally and sustainably then check out our selection of packages! All packaged in home compostable sugar cane containers or drop in a bag full of your own containers & jars in advance and we can safely sanitise and fill them for pickup Thursday 24th for a completely waste free option. Orders close Wednesday 16th 5pm but some items may sell out so don’t leave it until the last minute!x

15.01.2022 My favourite section in a recipe book is the spice blend used in different countries! I came across this Ethiopian book in Ange’s library this week and was blown away at how complex the traditional method of making Berbere spice blend is but was intrigued as to the ingredients we have around us that could replicate some of the flavours.... like holy basil So while it’s not super traditional (I mean you know that’s not my style by now right?) and il be grateful if my lentils turn out half as good as @kiyasinjera I guarantee it will be a super yumm and fun week next week! Orders close Sunday 6pm.x

14.01.2022 Orders closing tonight friends...... cause we all need reminding.x @negomi

13.01.2022 Our Christmas menu prep is in full swing! Thank you to everyone who ordered for putting your trust in us! Today I hand-made the tofu, added curry leaves picked from the streets of west end to coconut yoghurt I made on Sunday, slow roasted tomatoes, garlic & onion for harissa, made tahini from sunflower seeds & added preserved lemons from skins we used months ago, this went in carrot mash with ginger, I pickled plums to make a sauce for the carrots, reduced the flesh from plum cores to make a miso glaze for the beetroots & shelled fresh tamarinds for pumpkin dressing! Tomorrow my friend @negomi will help roast all the things & Thursday morning we put it all together! Locally sourced produce, all hand made with love and care!x

13.01.2022 Friends! Next week’s pick up/delivery marks the 1st December! We will continue with the usual Tuesday programme until 15th December which means 3 more weeks! We will announce a very special Christmas Salad offer soon so pick up that week will be on Thursday 24th not Tuesday but for now, stay healthy and organised with a meal pack for yourself or invite some friends around for dinner on a Tuesday to share the love!x

13.01.2022 Middle Eastern vibes for next week..... with a hint of tamarind...... because no lemons! #seasonal #local

11.01.2022 We used the last of our pomegranates this week so I’m pretty excited for some rhubarb and green apples from @foodconnectbrisbane to sharpen things up next week!

11.01.2022 I’ve had my fair share of being vegetarian/vegan at a Christmas dinner full of meat, amongst extended/partner’s family or friends! It can be a huge cause of stress for everyone which completely misses the point of these gatherings. We’ve put together 3 fully #plantbased meal packages that are so delicious no one will feel left out: Fancy salads you can add to/bring to a gathering as sides, a mixed pack with proper #vegan mains plus salads to share or a full on Feast with 5 salads and 2 mains! All the produce is sourced locally and sustainably from friends at @foodconnectbrisbane @allmyfriends.grocer @thaihoa_grocer @sovereignfoodsau and pick up from @wanderingcooks South Brisbane on 24th.x Orders closing 5pm Wednesday 16th. Link in bio.x

10.01.2022 Next Tuesday 8th is extra special! Not only do we have yummy new recipes, my nephew turns also 4!

09.01.2022 Love this photo @negomi captured of @loop.growers corn .... with the sneaky amaranth photobomb I almost missed 2 orders this week cause I need reminding EVERY week so this is your reminder for Tuesday pick-up....in case you’re like me and forgot to order!x

07.01.2022 The bones of each menu is written up and posted to you guys almost a week in advance based on available local produce, but sometimes I think of little additions I would like to make between then and cooking! Since @wanderingcooks #urbanproducemarket has started Billy has been my little angel, sometimes even reading my mind as to little extras that might be leftover from the market that I can use to make your meal packs extra special! Sour green mangoes and turnips.......

07.01.2022 Thanks for rolling all the falafels @negomi .... all 147 of them

06.01.2022 Peanut butter kefir sauce! This life-changing sauce has the ability to turn a simple salad or stir-fry into something magical in less than 2minutes..... Blend or stir 1 heaped tbsp peanut butter w about 1/3 cup @oldcossackkefir ginger turmeric water kefir! Add a pinch of salt if peanut butter isn’t salted. Optional add a splash of tamari or soya sauce, chilli powder or flakes, garlic if that’s your thing! Double or triple and store some in fridge! So yumm poured over sauté...ed veg & herbs, a starch like potato or brown rice, fried tofu/tempeh and topped with seeds/peanuts, pickles/sauerkraut! Don’t forget you can order @oldcossackkefir and krauts directly through them (link on our website) for free delivery to Wandering Cooks on Tuesdays! See more

06.01.2022 It’s been too long between red curries! This week’s featuring our hand-made tofu, roasted chat potatoes from @foodconnectbrisbane and pineapple from @thaihoa_grocer Last few hours to get your orders in for Tuesday pick-up/delivery.x

05.01.2022 #truestory ........ last week @negomi blanched an ENORMOUS overflowing bread tray full of spinach from @loop.growers and it shrunk to about 10 handfuls! Half went in last week’s sesame salad, we froze the rest so we can add all of that vibrant nutritious goodness to this week’s dahl! Orders closing this evening for Tuesday.x

04.01.2022 Did you guys like the #eggplant coconut chutney in your beetroot salad this week? It’s the South Indian equivalent of babaganoush made w charred eggplant, ginger lime & coconut!

04.01.2022 Tomorrow @northeystorganicmarket we are swapping our usual chickpea tomato #shakshuka for a more vibrant green! Using warrigal greens (native spinach) straight from the Northey Street farm and some #organic zucchini from @foodconnectbrisbane you can, as always, enjoy with baked eggs or hand-made tofu (Healthy Pulse), served w quinoa tabbouleh, preserved lemon tahini & almond dukkah! See you tomorrow 7.30-11am.x

04.01.2022 I wasn’t sure if I had eggplants for this week’s menu so it’s not written there but thankfully Billy came through with some for the @wanderingcooks urban produce market (on every Saturday morning) so we will have some beauties roasted and charred alongside chunks of sweet potato in a smoky black cardamom coconut curry! Orders closing shortly for Tuesday pick up.x

03.01.2022 It’s that time of the week where you need to get your orders in for meal packs or individual meals on Tuesday friends!x

03.01.2022 FYI for next week too.x

03.01.2022 We ran out but we have some more of our beautiful calendars with photos by the talented @negomi back in stock just in time for last minute gifts or for your own personal enjoyment! Order online through our website or pop into @alphabetcafe and enjoy a coffee and cake while you plan what you will grow and cook in 2021! Xx

03.01.2022 From half-primary onwards I can tell you a story about how I met every single posture, like meeting different friends in life! One went on to become a serious long-term relationship! It took about 3 years of fun, games, hard work and lots of tears to get to a point where it felt comfortable, so comfortable we got married & had a great honeymoon then in the space of 3 weeks it all came crumbling down! Injuries and life events reveal who our real friends are! Standing postures... and half-primary are our family and best-friends! They will always be there for us and have our best interests at heart! All the others require some juggling, a careful consideration as to how much energy we give to each one or how many friends we hang out with in one day! Just like the marriage, while it’s slowly starting to rebuild, if I had put more into it today I wouldn’t have the energy to see all my other friends! There is always tomorrow! #kapotasana See more
