11.01.2022 International White Cane Day: Brisbane commuters blindfolded, challenged to travel with no vision. Bonehams offers the medical caravan towing service along the way. Volunteers at four separate locations across Brisbane have taken the challenge to travel work blindfolded to experience their daily commute without sight.... As part of International White Cane Day, blindfolded volunteers including staff from Queensland Rail, have travelled from different train stations into the Brisbane CBD. This year marks 94 years since the white cane was invented by an Englishman who lost his sight in an accident and painted his black cane white to make it more visible to others. http://www.bonehamstowing.com/

09.01.2022 For You and Your Family: RAC Queensland rescued 76 babies from locked cars in just 12 days. A STAGGERINGLY high number of babies have become trapped in locked cars in Queensland, the states peak motoring body has warned. The RACQ has rescued 76 babies in the first 12 days of this month alone, including 16 in just one day. And modern cars with automatic locking are the cause of most of these gut-wrenching emergencies, the majority of the cases are accidental lock-ins.... Unfortunately its a lot to do with car owner giving kids the (car) keys to play with while they load the groceries or put the pram in, and the baby hits the button or drops the keys. It is one of those cases where new car technology is a double-edged sword. It makes cars very safe and secure from getting robbed, but it also makes them very, very easy to lock kids in and very hard to get them out. All know that most cases of kids locked in cars were accidents. She said the 16 rescues in one day was a bizarre coincidence but still very alarming. We cant really see why there are some days higher than others, but it is a high number and it is a scary number because we usually do about three rescues a day, she said. The RAC also rescued more than 20 pets in the first 12 days of October. And with the weather warming up, it is warning parents and pet owners to be vigilant make sure their loved ones dont become stuck in a potential death trap. Experts say it takes about seven minutes for the inside of a car to reach 40C. It sounds so simple but when youre distracted and if you feel rushed, its not. And if the worst happens, the Bonehams recommends people call for help straight away and see if they can do something to stop the car from getting too hot, such as providing shade with an umbrella or, if it happens at home, using a hose to keep the car cool. http://www.bonehamstowing.com/
