18.01.2022 A mid-week throwback to earlier this year when we attended the CaFHS nurse educator training session at the Womens & Childrens Hospital The session aimed to teach the educators how to more efficiently identify and screen developmental dysplasia of the hip, better known as click hips. 16.01.2022 Introducing Dr Rami Al-Dirini Dr Al-Dirini graduated from the University of South Australia in 2015 with a PhD in Biomechanical Engineering. Dr Al-Dirini , has been awarded a #BoneHealthFoundation seed grant for his project his project ‘Intrinsically Stable Total Knee Arthroplasty’ to be carried out at Flinders University where he is also a senior lecturer in bio-medical engineering.... Total knee Arthroplasty (TKA), or knee replacement surgery, helps to restore mobility and function for patients with advanced arthritis of the knee, a disease that affects around 3 million Australians. Through his research, Dr Al-Dirini hopes to improve injury prevention, care, and treatment for those suffering the debilitating effects of Osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is the leading cause of disability for those over the age of 65. The progressive pain associated with OA have been linked to the formation of bone marrow lesions. The clinic is a pioneering program which is helping raise awareness for the condition that affects 11 Aussie newborns and families each day. Known as clicky hips, hip dysplasia is a condition where the ball and socket of the hip joint dont form properly. The condition is often symptomless, but when left untreated it can cause distress as a child ages.
