25.01.2022 One of the founding principles of Victoria Police was the idea that "The Police are the public, and the public are the Police". Never has this been more true th...an in the last 24 hours. The overwhelming sympathy, understanding and condolence of the community we serve has truly been a source of comfort for the Police serving today; not only on the Mornington Peninsula but across the entire state of Victoria. We are truly grateful for the support and are struck by how profoundly the community has felt the tragic loss of our Police members. Incredibly, many members of our community have asked how they can do even more. To this end, we strongly encourage people to head over to Police Legacy (Link in the Comments) and make a donation. We also encourage our community to share this post to let as many people know about Police Legacy and the incredible work they do as possible. Four of our Police families move forward now bearing an unimaginable grief, but we hope that the support they receive from Police Legacy will go some small way to reinforcing to them that we stand with them, and that their loved ones who made that ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.

24.01.2022 If your going to have a household BBQ tonight don’t forget to check your gas connections for leaks. Leaking connections aren’t safe for you or your family. It’s... easy to check! Spray the hose and connections with soapy water. If soap bubble appear you know there’s a leak! 13.01.2022 On this day.. 19 years ago, 246 people went to sleep in preparation for their morning flights, 2,606 people went to sleep in preparation for work in the morning..., 343 firefighters went to sleep in preparation for their morning shift, 60 police officers went to sleep in preparation for morning patrol, 8 paramedics went to sleep in preparation for the morning shift. None of them saw past 10:00am Sept 11, 2001. In one single moment life may never be the same. As you live and enjoy the breaths you take today and tonight before you go to sleep in preparation for your life tomorrow, kiss the ones you love, snuggle a little tighter, and never take one second of your life for granted. #wewillneverforget

10.01.2022 Today we mark one year since the start of the devastating bushfires which deeply affected Victorian communities across the state. On 21 November, 2019 the first... ‘code red’ fire danger rating in almost a decade was declared in the Mallee and Northern Country, and dry lightning strikes in East Gippsland that started three fires which grew to a widespread bushfire disaster that burned for months. Today we reflect on the devastation and challenges that followed 21 November and the incredible support from all emergency services who came together to aid the communities impacted by the unprecedented fire season. 01.01.2022 Multi-agency response to Mornington Peninsula Bushfire Picture: Courtesy Ben Wain, CFA District 14 HQ Brigade Firefighters from twelve CFA brigades, Forest Fire... Management Victoria and Fire Rescue Victoria quickly brought a bushfire at Main Ridge under control yesterday afternoon (7 September) after it appears that an historic roadside burn-off flared up in windy conditions. A fire broke out along Limestone Road in Main Ridge just after 2pm before, spreading into adjoining Greens Bush, which is public land. 35 emergency service appliances, including both fire trucks and support vehicles, from several agencies responded to the scene, including 16 CFA fire trucks. Additional CFA Ultra Light Tankers were brought in to help with mobility in the park. The Firebird 304 Helicopter was also dispatched from Moorabbin Airport, providing surveillance from above to help guide firefighters through dense bush. Peninsula Group Officer (IMT Operations Officer) Timothy Desmond said it was believed an historic roadside burn-off had flared up in this afternoon's windy conditions. He thanked SSO Neil Schlipalius from FRV Station 95 who was first on scene and ran the fire until we arrived. The fire burnt approximately 4.5 ha before it was declared under control about 5.30pm. Mr Desmond said as the Park is managed by Forest Fire Management Victoria, FFMVic firefighters monitored the scene overnight and he thanked all agencies and members involved in what is believed to be the first major fire for the season across the State. Also thank you to Narre Warren Brigade who are the District Catering Unit who attended Boneo Fire Station to feed the members before they departed home. This is a timely reminder that those permitted to burn off in rural settings need to be careful that they are fully extinguished as this is not the first time fire has taken hold due to a burn off that had re-flared sometime later.
