22.01.2022 The Path of Yoga...Stand Tall...Burn Bright Its More than just how you look!! There is a widening gap in the current trends of the fitness industry and the ancient practice of Yoga.... This gap may not be obvious, so I want to write just a brief introduction for all of who are bombarded by the Social Media involved on this playing field. The big movement at present is in High Intensity, Short Duration, or Interval, training. Really started by those Olympic deadlifting paratroopers of Cross-Fit, and taken up so strongly by Orange Theory, HiiT, F45 etc etc and there are more and more coming. The science is very very good, and there is no doubt that this methodology works! It changes bodies. But it comes with some substantial costs and downsides to the well-being of modern society. Not that Id throw out the baby with the bath water, Id just suggest a balance that brings you peace, happiness, and not just a tighter tummy! In brief, and this is by no means a thorough dissection, this training style goes hand in hand with the modern day lifestyle. Yoga on the other hand, is like the antidote to the modern day lifestyle. High intensity interval training is high tech, high buzz, loud stimulating music and massive motivation. It is extremely body image expounding and social media engaging. Its intensity strengthens, shortens, tightens and produces outcomes with body weight and fitness levels there can be no doubt. It works! But, it matches a modern society that is so stressed out in their heads and in their hearts. Anxiety driven depression and insomnia. While on the one hand, like all exercise, it can really help with psychological well-being, on the other hand, its emphasis on body imagine without the balance of mindfulness, connection to your intuition, acceptance and non judgement are a tricky path. Especially if you value your long-term well-being and health. Im increasingly grateful for the long term effects that yoga is having on my well-being. Well be discussing how to maximise your outcomes from your Yoga practice with lots of nutrition advice, and how to engage in healthy high intensity interval training that can perfectly compliment your yoga practice and cost you next to nothing!! Bonfire Aspley has been booming again these past weeks, and were so grateful for all of wonderful Yogis who continue to support this amazing path to long term health and well-being. Namaste, Dr.A

Ive just got back from my little december getaway and it was so great seeing everyone on their mats this morning studio side!... Be Energy starts again on Wednesday morning and will be on again saturdays from the 30th (next sat). Sp excited to share these classes with you!!! 07.01.2022 Its that 3rd Yoga class within a week that tips the body into maintaining the many benefits that a regular yoga practice promotes. Pranayama deep breathing conditions and strengthens your lungs, shifting us from autopilot breathing to conscious, deliberate breathing. The chattering mind is brought under control. Intercostal muscles, situated between the ribs, warm up and become supple, improving access to the spine. Lower spine is stretched, counteracting the effects of poor posture. Heart and lungs are activated, preparing them for the postures ahead. Muscles that support the spine are fired up, taking in fresh oxygen needed for activity and improved health. Stimulates the mind and the muscles, encouraging balance between the two. Reinforces the connection between movement and the breath.

05.01.2022 Bear and I are carpooling to our favourite class this afternoon! I hope you dont mind he forgot his yoga pants.... I really believe the class called "Be Energy" is well ahead of its time and is the most effective way I have seen/felt to get the benefits of long lived eastern practises like Tai Chi and yoga while also providing the benefits valued by western cultures (enjoyable, visably tones muscles, releases stress x1000) - while ALSO emphasising enough rest so you leave ...the class centred rather than SUPER pumped or realllllllly relaxed. I jokingly say its like ninja training - this is because we are finding a place where we are both incredibly relaxed but also alert and present!!! A practice developing our awareness , releasing stored stress and empowering us as we RECLAIM OUR FREEDOM ! Have you tried the class yet? Be Energy sat 4-5pm wed-6-7am

01.01.2022 Boom ! Why yoga is so much more than a few stretches ... A practise profoundly effecting the quality of our lives OUTSIDE of our practice. How has yoga changed your life?? Do you move well, eat well and think well? For me its been the ability to have whatever is going on in me that day accepted that has really been a game changer. ... If Im mad, i practice. If Im sad, I practice. If Im happy, i practice. Life is always changing.... Whats more important for us now then building muscles so we "think" others will like us more, is accepting how we are right now. Yoga practices with amazing teachers all complimented by such a loving community . Feeling so grateful for this community Happy friday everyone@ - Brent
