25.01.2022 Sleep Kits Bonnies would like to thank SleepSafe which is a great program run by StreetSmart and Sheridan in partnership to create Sleep Kits for people who are homeless. We received our kits and they are fantastic for the women and children who arrive at Bonnies door homeless with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The kits have a towel and sheet set included and this is exactly what these women and children need at this time in their lives. Sleep Kits are manufacture...d by Sheridan suppliers using excess material so its great for the environment too. What a great idea! And so practical. #bonnies #sleepsafe #streetsmart #sheridan #donations #grateful

21.01.2022 We are really happy to share the news that the NSW government has made it easier for women who are not covered by Medicare e.g. women on temporary protection visas, to access treatment for injuries sustained from Domestic Family Violence (DFV) in public hospitals. These women no longer have to report the crime to Police before accessing public hospitals at no cost. See the Press Release in the link below. https://www.dcj.nsw.gov.au//easier-hospital-access-for-dom
20.01.2022 Bonnies Creative Group is still delivering creative/fun packages weekly to mums and their children. This is week 5, so we are half way through the program. 20.01.2022 Close the Gap Day What is Close the Gap? Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples have some of the poorest health outcomes of any group of people in the world. On average, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples die more than 10 years younger than other Australians. ... How long has Close the Gap been running? The Close the Gap campaign launched in 2006, when Tom Calma, the then Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner, released his report highlighting the appalling gap in life expectancy and health standards in Australia. 16.01.2022 At Bonnie’s, we received hearty food from Two Goods for the women and children in our service. It comes in pre packaged meals. When the women and their children come to seek support from us and we provided them with these nice warm meals that are cooked from the heart, it can transform a cold and lonely evening until we get to see them again the next day. We visited Two Good today and get to chat to a team of people that are keen to make positive changes in their corner of ...the world. It was nice to walk away and think, wow, we got people in our corner and we are not alone in seeking safety for the people we have the privilege to support. Thank you for your continue support and inspiring stories. Read more about the wonderful Two Good story here: https://www.bonnie.org.au/two-good/

07.01.2022 We at Bonnie’s congratulate Kamala Harris. She said today: While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last, because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities, Said Vice President-elect Kamala Harris... And to the children of our country, regardless of your gender, our country has sent you a clear message: Dream with ambition, lead with conviction, and see yourself in a way that others might not see you, simply because they’ve never seen it before. And we will applaud you every step of the way, she added And So I am thinking about her (her mother) and about the generations of women, Black women, Asian, White, Latina, Native American women, who through out our nations’ history have paved the way to tonight. Women who fought and sacrificed so much for equality and liberty and justice for all. Including the Black women who are often, too often overlooked but so often proven they are the backbone of our democracy. All the women who have worked to secure and protect the right to vote for over a century, 100 years ago with the 19th Amendment. Fifty five years ago with the Voting Rights Act, and now in 2020, with a new generation of women in our country who cast their ballots and continued the fight for their fundamental right to vote and be heard." We thank you for being a feminist.
