19.01.2022 Our Pre-Prep 2 friends have been on an inquiry based learning journey this month as they have been working towards building a Fairy Village for their classroom Fairy. The children were at the centre of the learning as they took the lead and planned their project from start to finish. The children came across challenges during their project but as a team used different trial and error techniques to work out how they were going to complete their village. They are now busy building their early literacy skills and learning about Characters to create a story using their Fairy village table.

18.01.2022 Last week our Toddlers room focused a lot on loose part play, it started on Wednesday where the children were engaged with cardboard boxes play, and it continued on Thursday where we added soft blocks, and recycled cylinders. On Friday it was all about recycled household items. What are the benefits of loose parts? When children interact with loose parts, they enter a world of what if that promotes the type of thinking that leads to problem solving and theoretical reasoning. Loose parts enhance children's ability to think imaginatively and see solutions, they bring a sense of adventure and excitement to children‘s play.

01.01.2022 The P2 children enjoyed another incursion from Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre last week. We learned about boomerangs (burragunn in Yugambeh language) and each child had the opportunity to decorate and design patterns in their very own boomerang. When participating in this experience, children were showing increasing respect for diversity and exercising their creativity and autonomy. We look forward to our next visit, as we embark on this incredible learning journey!
