04.01.2022 5 Healthy Changes You Can Make Today! 1. Be more active - Increase your physical activity level by doing regular exercise. Exercising doesn't have to be time-consuming, you can break your daily exercise routine into some bite-size routines (eg.10 mins in the morning, 10mins in the evening or 3 x 7mins mini-workouts). 2. Drink plenty of water - Most of us are working from home at the moment, keep a bottle of water next to you to remind yourself to stay hydrated. This is also ...an effective way to reduce emotional eating (snacking!). 3. Reduce sugary foods and drinks - Consuming too much sugar can lead to health problems, sugar is a big NO-NO. Pay attention to what you eat and check the sugar content on the food label, you'd be surprised how much sugar the food/drink contains. Is there any sugary food or drink you can ditch today, for example, fizzy drinks or sweets? Start from one today. 4. Include more vegetables and fruits (low sugar content) in your diet. - Look at your plate, are you eating enough 5 -a-day, can you add one more green vegetable in your meals today? The nutrients in vegetables are well preserved when eaten raw or steamed. 5. Destress - Don't forget to look after our mental health too. Be sure to get some fresh air everyday, staying at home doesn't mean you are restricted to do so - You can simply do so by opening your windows and fill your lungs with fresh air, it makes a difference. Practise one-minute-deep-breath exercise a few times each day, start by inhaling 6 counts and then exhaling 6 counts, doing 5 cycles of this only take you one minute.
