21.01.2022 this initiative from #englandschooldistrict in Arkansas. Students at EES are just loving our new book vending machine. This was a big purchase for us, but so worth it! Each week every adult in the school (teachers, paras, cafeteria, maintenance, office staff, etc.) gets a gold coin. They can give that coin to any student they want to, for any reason they want to. Maybe that student was kind, helpful, showed courage, worked through a difficult situation. Whatever the reason, the choice is theirs. Students then take that coin and use it to get a free book. This means we are giving away at least 60 free books a week!!! We just love seeing the excitement on the kids’ faces as they put their gold coin in and choose a book. #kidsandbooks #literacy #bookvendingmachine

I’ve just taken all the books out of @bookawarra because it’s not a good idea to be bookswapping at this time...but having said that, these books have been in there a while and there are some decent reads. Sooo...I’m happy to operate a click and collect if any of them take your fancy. Send me a message of the titles if you want to collect one (or seven) I’ll pop them back out there and you pick up, take & keep. 02.01.2022 I’ve just put a whole stack of picture books into @bookawarra (guess who used to be a primary teacher). It seems #streetlibraryaustralia are operating all over the country...and I know how tough it is with the library closed (ps we’re doing FB live storytimes on Wed at 11am & we’ve just got @storyboxlibrary too!)
