20.01.2022 To our friends, customers, and Facebook family Merry Christmas! We hope that your stockings are filled with books and your evenings are filled with reading (paired with some chocolate and wine, of course). And now, some thoughts on the year that was 2020 has been a wild ride. Even here in Darwin, where we have escaped the worst of the pandemic, we have seen life changing before our very eyes. But one thing that has not changed (and never will) is our passion for good book...s! For this reason we are extremely proud to say the Bookshop Darwin did not close at all in 2020. We followed all government direction and offered new ways to assist our customers, such as a drive-through pick up lane, a newly developed online shop, and more! It has been a pleasure to see these options being utilised, and to do our part to support the community. After all, what could be better for surviving a lockdown than some new books and puzzles? (You’d think George R R Martin would have used this time to write his next book, but alas) All this aside, the main reason we have been able to stay open is because of you, our customers, and the amazing way you have rallied behind us. Thank you for supporting a store with a door that employs local, and that spends our money here in Darwin. Thank you for supporting the Australian publishing industry, and helping to keep hundreds of authors, editors, and designers employed (instead of relying on cut price department stores or eBooks). Thank you for helping us to stay open, so that we can in turn work with schools, book clubs, libraries, and the Writers Centre, to help bring a love of literature to readers all across the Territory. We couldn’t do it without you. And even if we could, it wouldn’t be any fun. Thank you, and Merry Christmas, from Anna, Sean, and the Bookshop Darwin team
