This new biennial award is given to an author or illustrator of child...ren's books whose body of work by has made a significant and ongoing contribution to children's literature in Australia. Andrew's huge body of work includes many award-winning and well-loved classics. 17.01.2022 A great day today with Leigh Hobbs at the Melbourne Book Market at Abbotsford Convent. Horrible Harriet was beside herself! Leigh was Celebrated by enthusiastic readers and Mr Chicken is definitely well on the way to being All Over Australia. We have lots of signed copies just ready to become part of good homes!

12.01.2022 On Wednesday evening, October 26, our Australian Childrens Laureate, Leigh Hobbs, was honoured with the Distinguished Alumni Award, Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture, at a very impressive ceremony at Monash University. The tribute read aloud, was a marvellous and memorable tribute. Significant too to have a practicing artist, teacher, childrens author illustrator and Childrens Laureate, receive this honour in such distinguished company. We are so proud of you Leigh.

10.01.2022 Weve just had a tour of the new Geelong Library by the lovely Deanne Verity. Its very impressive with personal reading and working chairs, the fifth floor dedicated to events rooms and a fantastic view of the city!

08.01.2022 Books Illustrated has a fabulous letterbox given to us by Lee Burgemeestre! Our first window was a 3D version of an illustration from Bird and Bear and the Special Day. We popped it in there for the locals on the daily walk looking for bears! Now we have a new collection of characters who are waiting for their story to be told. I visited him and his family over several days and they w...ere extremely generous to have me in their home and studio, and show me some of the way the artists in the family work. The techniques and the heritage is amazing, and who knows how much longer it will be around. Id like to get him out to Australia. I have some ideas about that, but Id appreciate your thoughts.
