25.01.2022 A special thanks goes out to Maighan Downes from Scholastic Australia who compiles our book catalogue long lists three times a year, to the Book Selection Committee who reduce the long list to the short list of titles that make it onto each catalogue, and to Cliff Watt at Scholastic Australia for doing such a great design job on our various book catalogues.

24.01.2022 NEW ROLE MODEL ALERT: Welcome to Anita Zurbrugg, who is not only a Books in Homes Donor, but also now a Role Model. Like other adults, Anita Zurbrugg is just a big kid (with bills!). Anita has written MY BROTHER IS AN ALIEN, a children’s picture book for ages 3+. She neither confirms nor denies whether it is based on a true story. Anita believes in magic, doing something you are passionate about and unleashing your creativity. The purpose of her writing is to warm hearts and ...cause spontaneous smiles because this world greatly needs more of them. http://www.anitazurbruggbooks.com/

23.01.2022 We have some exciting news! We'd like to extend a profound thanks to children's author Anita Zurbrugg who has just released a new picture book called MY BROTHER IS AN ALIEN. A percentage of every copy sold will be donated to Books in Homes. MY BROTHER IS AN ALIEN is a children’s picture book with a humorous take on the arrival of a baby into a family from a big brother’s perspective. This book carries a heartfelt message to children who are expecting a new arrival into their... family and the emotions that can sometimes arise during this change in the family dynamics. If you'd like to support Books in Homes via Anita in a fresh and exciting way, then please grab a copy. You can order from here: www.anitazurbruggbooks.com

23.01.2022 Congratulations to all the children’s writers and illustrators, as well as their publishers, who were selected for the CBCA Notables. Full list here.

21.01.2022 NEW ROLE MODEL ALERT: Welcome to author Elizabeth Foster who hails originally from Brisbane, but now lives in Sydney, where she is hard at work on the final novel in her Esme trilogy. She read avidly as a child, but only discovered the joys of writing as an adult. Reading to her own kids reminded her of how much she loved getting lost in fictional worlds, and once she started writing, she couldn’t stop! Much of her inspiration comes from nature, especially the ocean. The Esme trilogy is a warm-hearted fantasy adventure for readers 10 years and over, set in a magical Venice-like city, with dragons! http://www.elizabethfoster.com.au

17.01.2022 Read about how a team of librarians at Cumberland City Council Library who, as a tribute to a beloved staff member the late Robynne Winley, raised funds to place 15 students on the Books in Homes Program. The vision, mission and core values of our charity aligned with one of Robynne's greatest passions... to provide the gift of books and reading to children who might not have the opportunities that many of us take for granted. Thank you to the team for thinking of us as a w...ay of celebrating Robynne's life and her many kindnesses. Our sincere condolences to Robynne's family and friends on her loss... our thoughts are with you. https://booksinhomes.com.au//cumberland-city-council-libr/ See more
